cheap gun, pretty finish

took 8 months to get it back

Dolling up a M1991A1 is akin to making a silk purse out of a sow's ear, but it was all I could afford at the time.

Hey, why not? I've done crazier things in my life.:o

Mein Gott, what a beautiful gorgeous thing that it.

That would be the perfect home for one of them GB Greg wide spur hammers I love so much.

That turned out gorgeous. I don't think that's crazy at all.

Takes my breath away.

That's a fine looking pistol doc540:)
I picked up a slightly beat up 1991 recently and plan to refinish it this coming week. I'm leaning towards parkerizing at the moment, but doing a rust blue is still a consideration.

Greg

Nothing to be ashamed about there. It's a fine piece made even finer. Beautiful job.

I'm changing strategy, it's a sows ear! What a pig, I'll give you a hundred bucks you cover shipping.

Note to Santa, I've been good.

Can I take that as a strong maybe, or perhaps I'm thinking about it?

Beautiful bluing job! Might I ask what such a procedure had cost you? You can PM me if you don't want to put it out in the public. And would Colt consider doing something other than a Colt?

Not sure about what they will or won't do, but I know Ford refinishing can do anything and just a well. http://www.fordsguns.com/

CS prices are on the website. They swapped out the plastic trigger and MSH, so the total with shipping to my FFL was about $425.

Yeah, that's a sows ear too. Might as well send em both together to keep your shipping cost down, I'll send an extra 50 bucks.

Are you sure that thing is even solid? Sure looks like some kind of liquid, or gel at best! I'm going to have to look up that link you posted!

Whoa! Those turned fantastic. And nothing wrong with those 1991s, I had a Commander that was an excellent shooter.

Gorgeous finishes! Too bad the Colt has such a hideous roll mark. Almost makes RIA look good.

I don't think it's all that bad myself. Still a sows ear. I'll try to doll it up some when it arrives. Maybe put some lipstick on the pig so to speak.
