I just got a new Kahr CM 9 and the magazine catches when you put it into the mag well. Not by much but just enough where you have to pay attention to how you put it in. Specifically the lower lip of the mag just under the front of the follower catches on the lip of the front of the grips. My friends TCP 380 is more forgiving on how to insert magazine meaning it goes in more naturally. Is it the nature of the beast as the TCP grips are only about 2 mm thinner and the mag for the CM 9 is quite bigger than the TCP mag. Any opinion is welcome and anyone have the same issues. Also there is some plastic grinding/shredding where the glockish rear cover and the plastic grips interface, such as the frame rails. Hope this is not confusing. I know i am a nit picker and most important is how reliable and accurate my CM 9 will be when I have a chance to test her out.

I bought a cm9 two months ago. I have a friend who carries a pm9. I was looking for a pocket pistol especially for summer months. It is my first kahr. I wanted more than a 380. The cm9 wasthe exact size I was looking for. And if you have priced a pm9 , you will understand my excitement toward the cm9! I carry a ruger sr40c a lot. The kahr has such a smooth trigger!! Ihave shot around 600 rounds through it. Sweet gun.. perfect size. I am interested in a cm45.. I havehad some of the same issues inserting magazines. Can be finicky.

Thanks for the badge!! I appreciate it. Small price to be in the club. Considering how much a laptop costs, and how long these Kahr's keep their value compared to laptops i choose the Kahr over a new laptop.

Like i said earlier i am the picky type. I have some photos of how the way bullets sit in the mag, how the mag inserts into the gun, and then what appears to be a crack in the frame near the slide release.
This photo shows the flare in the mag lip and the distance between the 2 bullets

This photo shows the angle between the top and next bullet

This next photo compares the kahr mag and a TCP mag . I understand that the design maybe different therefore the difference.

This next photo shows that the front lip in the mag gets caught on the front magwell when the mag is tilted towards the rear, its exaggerated but shows how it catches.

The next photo shows how the mag has to be put in just right before it goes in as supposed to without catching.

Finally this last photo shows what appears to be a crack or seam in the frame near the slide release. Intuitively this area get alot of stress due to mag catching after last shot and released to load.

I do not want to be sounding to be nagging or anything. I know how i should have caught these things during inspection but these are minute details that can be over looked . Also the way the bullets sits of course are not known until i got home and loaded. There is one last item that i forgot to take a pic of which is the opposite side of ejection port seems to have machining marks, I know this an economy model for Kahr but i was not expecting to see it. Again it was missed during inspection.

The bullet orientation in the magazine is completely normal. As the follower pushes the cartridge up it tips that top one up some, I assume to help in chambering.
The only issue I see is the crack. Can you see that on the inside or flex it and make it move. That is not normal and if indeed it really is a crack versus a scratch then you should probably send that photo to Kahr to look at.
We've seen at least one other that had a crack right at the slide lock pin hole but it was vertical straight up and down and not angled back like yours. Hard to tell from the picture if it's a crack or a scratch.

When I have a chance i will field strip and then look closer. I hope its not a crack. Again its a high stress area i believe. Surely i will not fire it first for safety and so that Kahr cannot claim that i used bad bullets or the such. what a bummer. I want this to be a perfect piece and so far Im having a bad first impression. Hope that its nothing.

The magazines on my CM9 will also catch at the front if you insert them tilted in that direction. It's not an issue for me though, since you can just tilt them the other way and they slide right in. Plus my purpose for the CM9 was for EDC and I don't plan to carry additional magazines, so it's a mute point. But I do think the majority of the issues with the Kahrs seem to be directly related to their magazines.

can see witht he slide off if the crack is on the inside of the frame. It is a strange place for a crac k, but also a strange lace for a scratch. I would send that photo to kahr for sure to get their opinion.
The utter stuff u mentioned is normal for a kahr. The bullet orientation is normal. It is by design. I am maybe assming it is becuase of kahrs patented off set feed ramp, but who know, it works fine. Not a design flaw.
The magazine catchingthnng, fromthe photo just looks tome like ur trying to insert the magazine at an angle and it needs to go in straight. I see no flaw there other than the shooter needs to do it right. I realy don't care what other brand may or may not do. It is what it is. Ur one of the frist that I ahve read of having difficulty with magazine insertion. The only thing I cans e ein all ur photos is my concern over that scratch/crack or what ever. Not really a high stress area either. It came that way from the factory..

Looked closer at the crack/scratch with a flashlight and it seems to go under the slide stop, so it cant be a scratch at least not by me because i have yet to field strip it, meaning the slide stop would prevent a scratch from going under it. I am hoping that it is a seam. I have given Kahr a call and had to leave a message as no one was picking up. I am hoping that if I do have to send it back that they will pick up the tab for both ways because its a brand new gun.

Before you take it apart, please watch the video and look at the manual. There are things that you can do to break your pistol or have to send it back to Kahr for self-induced problems. See this thread, I posted the links there:
