View Full Version : Gun Ban Answer

We have been going about gun ownership all wrong. If we really want to make gun ownership secure for us and in the future, this is what we need to do:
1) Have a yearly gun registration. Thats right, take your guns once a year to a state approved inspection facility where they will be serial # matched to the owner, saftey checked and you pay a fee per gun per year.
2) In this inspection, you will need to have proof of insurance for theft and liability.
3) also in this inspection you would have to show proof of a state approved gun saftey class that has to be taken every other year.
If these things would happen you would never hear about banning guns again. The magazine capacity issue would go away. In short gun ownership would be much like driving a car.
You would create whole new industries. The state has a revenue stream, the insurance industry and their lobby is in support, the inspection/ training facilities would need to be created and licenced(read $) The computer nerds would be employed to build networks to support such a plan. It creates jobs.
The American way is that you have to pay for your rights. You have to spread the love ($) to enough people that your right will no longer be in question. If you get enough people feeding at the trough, they will not want that trough to ever go away. That is how you protect gun rights in America.
I hope you do not think that I want this to ever happen but I am looking for feedback to see if others here agree that if the aforementioned should happen, we wouldnt have the struggles we do now.

Very strongly disagree with this.

I do too. I am just making a sarcastic yet accurate(?) projection of how sheet works.

Gun ownership is a guaranteed RIGHT, not a PRIVILEGE therefore no license or registration should be required. What part of "Shall Not Be Infringed" is so hard for our legislators to understand. I'm a dumb redneck, but even I learned the definition of Infringed by the 5th grade.

I don't think it would help. It would pacify for a short time, but then they would still want to limit certain things, or tax you more on them....just like do automobiles.

agreed +10000 but my question is: If this were to happen, do you think gun ownership would be demonized as it is now?

That is kind of my point. As long as you pay you can play.

But now they're limiting automobiles based on MPG....manufacturers are supposed to be getting their MPGs up or stop producing AND they do stupid things like basing it on the Number of Cylinders which is just silly (luckily my truck has 5 so I'll always be safe :D )
Also, I don't think the Pay to Play rule would work for something that was there to make sure we didn't fall under tyranny. Only the rich get the guns, and I can guarantee you the Senators and Congress, etc would all be exempt from the rule, getting the guns they want.
I think personal property tax and property tax are ridiculous. I can never truly own something....Even if I paid for it 100%, I have to pay for the right to keep it, or they will take it away from me....

The Gub'mint thinks electric cars are too quiet now and should add sound so that the less-aware people can hear them coming, though it would have to be pretty loud with all of the idiots that have headsets and earplugs on when they should be AWARE of their surroundings... approaching footsteps from BG's or the usual DUI drivers wandering about... or the OTHER distracted idiots TEXTING and YACKING on their electronic devices!

They would only use the information to find out where the guns are so the storm troopers wouldn't have to rely on media maps to find them.

Criminals don't register guns.
yep they dont. This is about you and I having guns.
Again, I dont think this is a way to have things done. It seems some do agree yet think that money will buy security in the ability to have arms but only for a short time until the man wants more and more $$. Then the rich will have them and the rest wont. I agree BTW.
Just stir'n the pot and getting my brothers/sisters thinking and blood pressures up.

Yessir, the Jews have six million reasons to be against gun registration. The Chinese have 60 million reasons.

Absolutely!!! Gun owners are demonized by the left because gun ownership is viewed as an individual right and they hate the idea of the individual. To them everything is about groups. Registration, safety checks, and training will do NOTHING to appease them, and who wants to do so anyway.
I strongly vote, NO, NO, NO!!!!!!!!

End Game for the liberal asshats is complete elimination of firearms from citizens hands. We must not give an inch.

I also have to disagree! This is not about doing whats right for society, its about gun confiscation at some future point. Here is one suggestion I have -- If the white house was serious about helping the problem, the prez would have signed an executive order imediately requiring a $25 fee to accompany all background checks. Every single penny of this money would be used to help fund our lack of mental health facilities and mental health professionals and to help those who are unstable to get proper help. I don't think too many people would object to this if they knew that the money was truely being used for this purpose and not being used to fund the next golf trip to Hawaii. Imagine the amount of money that would have been raised to actually make a difference.... oh well...

Folks, on a plus note (not that it really helps), but just read a Drudge article that said MagPul is saying they have 1 million PMAGs on back-order. I know things are bad, but the good part off all this is that this latest insanity on the part of liberals have pushed more guns and more ammo and more high capacity mags into the hands of gun owners than would have been purchased in a decade probably.
Furthermore they have CREATED more new gun owners than would have been created in a decade.
Silver lining. I'm in a good mood today I guess.

Noticed your board name. I was a loser college student that thought I had more important things to do when you were doing your country a great service. Thank You!!!

You are very welcome. I mean, I was productive and did well in school, but it's my one and only regret in life (having not put school on hold and joined up at that age). I've always been a loud-mouth marginally militant conservative, but for some reason when I was able I just wasn't willing to join the military. Young kid more interested in cars, goofing off, and getting a job. It all seems so trivial as I look back, especially now. Wish I had done my part back then.

HELL NO. .
They want info on what you have so it will make them easier to confiscate or to label you as a threat under the NDAA. It is ALWAYS the first step in confiscation!
Remember, this is a RIGHT, not a priviledge like driving an automobile.

I disagree. How about add an a $25 tax on every bottle of prozac/riddlin perscribed to go towards mental health instead. THERE is where the problem is.

How about banning prozac/riddlin and declaring the fake conditions they treat as illegal to diagnosis as well. Then get those kids out from in front of the TV and their video games and get them some freakin' exercise. Give them some chores. Hand them a copy of the Constitution to memorize. Toss a backpack on them and run them out on the AT for a few days and nights.

Yesterday I noticed my calendar has the renewal of my CCW posted for this year. Seems like just a short time ago I renewed it. The DMV renewed my drivers license by mail for over 15 years and I never forgot the laws, how to drive nor did I run over anybody. Now after only two years I have to pay $65 for a refresher class and over $100 to the Sheriffs Dept for the next two years.
Just wait, Obama will executive order a huge expensive database and pass the cost to CCW holders at an additional cost of only $100 per YEAR.

Funny y'all should mention this. My blood pressure is running high lately as well (really...I just checked it with one of those automatic wrist meters). Thing is, I'd just been reading some news articles about the gun ban stuff...which inevitably leads to me muttering bad words under my breath and being generally outraged.
Getting upset like that really IS bad for my blood pressure. I think I oughta take a break from reading the news, but I just can't seem to help it. Quick! Somebody pass a law to save me from myself before it's too late! :)

My op was to express what the gov MIGHT try as a way to slowly pull us from our God given right so that the constitution will, overtime, be marginalized. As many have said. We cannot give an inch. I bet we give some millimeters instead. There is no way in hell they will walk away from the table without something. It might be 10 rnd mags nation wide or No AR/AKs or?? I am cnvinced they will not seek a complete citizen gun ban though.
