So I have a trijicon front sight that I painted white with testors enemal paint to make it more visible. What do you guys think? Still considering getting big dots in the future. Sorry for the blurry iphone pics.

I think that's pretty good. It will be more visible during the day.

It definitely is. Not sure how the paint will hold up to holstering and cleaning. Part of me wishes that I had left the bottom of sight black so that the front lines up better with the back. I have a tendency to dot the I using the bottom of the now white front sight, which would mean aiming a bit high. Working on using the dot of the tritium window to dot the I. Plus it was easier and looked better to paint the whole thing. And it is more white surface to draw the eye.

Good job. I judge my sights by how well I can pick up the FRONT sight on the drawstroke. You may go a step further and get some fluorescent paint at Walmart in the craft dept. and put it over that nice white base coat you have. If you are going to change the complete sight set anyway, you may further enhance the speed of sight acquisition buy slightly enlarging the width of the stock rear sights ala. Trijicon HD or Ameriglo's. I have ameriglo's on a S&W Shield and they are great for old eyes.

Thanks!
If I do replace them it will be with the XS big dot front and rears.
The only issue I am having is the enamel is still not hard...apparently it can take days to weeks to fully cure! It's dry, but you can still leave a mark on it.

Always clean the surface to be painted with acetone or other quick drying solvent, then apply a primer coat or two, then the top coat!
I've done the same thing (paint the whole front sight). Does take a bit getting used to dotting the i.

I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol. Then did a few coats. They say not to do coats after 3 hours or again until after 48. For enamel anyway. The paint is still curing. Tonight is 48 hours.
Probably still going to do big dots but this was a way to gauge if I would like them.

They look like Ameriglo I-Dot's. I have them on a S&W Shield.

I've used Testors model paint on several handguns to aid my aging eyes. It works great. And because it is formulated to resist RC model airplane fuel, it stands up extremely well to cleaning, etc.:)

Result. Good. (My group is in the black :) ) The wife shot it for the first time. ( hence the scatter of holes on the outer areas). But was first time ever shooting. So. I was just happy she put em on the paper. :)
