NRA Life Membership is currently discounted to only $300! The regular price is $1,000.
I had just renewed my yearly NRA membership over the weekend. But $300 for a Life Membership was too good to pass up, so I am now a PROUD LIFE MEMBER OF THE NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA!
I don't know how long this discount is good for, so I encourage you to call now.

A big thanks to Tom Gresham of GunTalk Radio for posting this on Twitter.
This thread really properly belongs in the RKBA section, but I thought that in our current perilous situation that all KahrTalk members should hear about this...even those who normally avoid the RKBA area. Sorry Bawana and JohnH. Move the thread if you need to.

a super good deal, I joined back in 19 1962 and backthen it was $150 and I have 3 years even to pay it. One of the best investmentsw I ever did. I recentley this last fall paid up on a special offer to get endowment status. I think the NRA is looking for ways to bring in addtional revenue, Which is fine with me.:cheer2:
congrats
I got a buddy who is a life member at the Federal pen in terre Haute. I think he just had to shoot his wife to get membership.

Welcome RJT123 as our newest Life Member to the NRA.
Why thank you, Sir!
I wish I had done this sooner. I was tempted when they offered it at $600, but at $300 I just couldn't say no. At current prices (plus shipping), that's just a little bit more than a 1000 round case of 9mm ammo goes for.

I'm going to start saving some pennies towards that, Jocko. Maybe a bequest in my Will as well.

I got my life membership for $600.00. But now that it's down to $300.00 I think we are going to budget the money and my Husband will also become a life member.
It's worth eating beans for months to put the money together.

Way to go rjt123! I had the chance to get a Life Membership for $150 (I think) when I was 16, back in the mid eighties. Married a woman who had never touch a gun and now she is a member of the NRA.

I haven't received mine yet. Took them a couple of weeks to even charge my card. I don't think they (or anybody) had the infrastructure in place to efficiently handle about a HALF-MILLION new members in the last 5-6 weeks. Nice problem to have, I suppose.

I would suspect the NRA is way behind in all membership stuff. Patience is golden, IMO the best money u can ever spend. if u love guns.

Even at my advanced age now is the time they need money. I did mine a couple of weeks ago during Obama's "gun violence" speech.
I just upgraded from patron to benefactor level, at a very affordable price. I don't mind giving a couple of 100 dollars to the NRA, but it's also nice when you have a little something to show for your money.

u have satisfaction CJB, what else are u looking for. I don't see the NRA backing off of congress over these stupid gun decrees. I know they have flooded my state with mail to get ahold of our legislators both house and senate to voice how we feel.
Jocko, what I meant was instead of just giving them money, getting the upgrade was nice. I think most lifers are loafers. I always tried to give a little more. I think today's transactions with the NRA was mutually beneficial.

ok, got that. I kinda figured that afterI posted it. Thats how I gotto the endowment stage. NRA had a nice offer, and eventually I willtry to get to the next stage, just becuase I do wanttyo support them. I just joined my son for live at the $300 special offer, He is 25, so he will reap that benefit just from the magazine for the rest of his life....
When I placed my order for the $300 lifetime membership, I was asked to select a magazine and told it was a one year subscription. I questioned that, and the gal said she would confirm with her supervisor. When she came back, she stated it was just a one year mag subscription.

Still waiting for a welcome package, letter, card, whatever it is that I'm supposed to receive.
I'm getting lots of emails, but nothing that specifically relates to being a member.
Anyone else been officially "welcomed" yet?

Haven't received anything, except the CC charge. I did however go on the Membership site and noticed I am being carried as a Life Member. That's different.
I suppose I'll receive a packet of some sort. Likely a beg letter from Wayne too.

It took quite a while to get my actual paperwork (as in well over a month).
I'm wondering if the "one year subscription" means you get "American Rifleman" for one year, then you have the option next year of choosing it again, or switching to "American Hunter", etc....know what I mean? You're not locked into one magazine for life?

I sent NRA an email, yesterday, asking about the status of my Lifetime Membership. I got the following reply:
Thank you for contacting us.
The first issue of your magazine will arrive next month.
Due to the overwhelming amount of support we have received from both new and existing members, we are currently experiencing a backlog with NRA membership packets. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience and understanding. At this time we ask that you allow at least 6-8 weeks from the date that we processed your membership payment for your packet to arrive. If after that time you have not received a membership packet, please let us know and we will be happy to have another one sent to you.
In the meantime if you need to access your NRA membership and its benefits, please visit www.NRAMemberServices.org (https://service.mail.com/dereferrer/?target=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.NRAMemberServices.org&lang=en). Once you have logged in you can print out proof of membership on the “View Your Membership” page, change your magazine selection, change your mailing or email address, update your email newsletter preferences and much more.
Please note that if you have not logged into NRA Online Member Services before, you will need to create a login account by going here: https://www.nramemberservices.org/login.aspx (https://service.mail.com/dereferrer/?target=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nramemberservices.org%2F login.aspx&lang=en)

I got mine last week as well.
One concern, though... I can handle all the emails and letters asking for action on this or a donation for that...
But before I ever received my membership packet, they sent me a "training DVD" with the stipulations that if I liked it and wanted to keep it, simply send them the money. If I don't like/want it, send it back (no pre-paid return postage).
Does this happen a lot? Can I opt out of things like that in the future? I joined the NRA, not Columbia House (for those who remember that mess).

That's the problem with all of the charities and causes... it's like you bled in the water a little bit and a feeding frenzy started. You show a little "weakness" and the "predators" all come running to participate in the "feast". There are many worthwhile causes and charities, but donations just seem to lead to them asking for more and more... and their 'buddies" join in with the requests for more money.
What REALLY annoyed me was that when I gave money to the Republican Party and the leaders, they must have spent 4 times what I gave them in sending me expensive new requests for more money! That's just such a waste that I stopped contributing.

I've gotten stuff like that too. Videos etc. Never got around to watching them and never sent them back either. I think it's just an odds maker for them.
A certain percentage will pay to send them back or better yet pay dollars for a product that cost pennies to save the trouble of sending it back. More than covers the cost of guys like me that just don't do anything.

I don't think they send much of the stuff that needs to be returned. They will nag you if you don't buy or return it, though. I took a while to return the unused DVD and did it to shut them up! I think there was a prepaid return envelope along the way or with the original offer. Unless you sign some agreement you don't have to return unsolicited junk, but sometimes it pays to send it back.
Calendars and return address stickers galore, I keep or pitch. You can only use so many of those!
I've received dollar bills as part pre-payment for surveys and stuff, so it pays... sometimes... to look at the "junk mail" before tearing it up or pitching it! One survey gave me a dollar up front and another after returning the survey! That's RARE, though!
Wynn:)
I received my lifetime membership packet, as well. It came in a few days ago. I haven't received any videos or solicitations, as G23 reported. That may be because I adjusted my account preferences to decline all their mailings. You can edit preferences from the Member Services page.

the video they sent actually was not that bad. I watched it with my son who is a newbie to guns in many ways. I even learned sumpin from it to, so it was worth the watch and then we just pre mailed it back to the NRA. Was not a deal reaker to walk it to a mail box..
It showed what so many here preach, and that is to practice close. most of the shootin was in the 3-5 yard range.. Most of the shootin was preached also as POA shooting at that range. He discussed the reasons and it made alot of sense. I couldhave preached this to my son but it wouldhave fell on deaf ears but seein it on a good video, it sunk i with him somewhat.:Amflag2:
I think the ideo was very beneficial.

No sweat, boss. The stuff they mailed me (and everybody else who got this deal, I'm guessing) has a 30 day offer to sign up family or friends for the same $300 for life membership. I'm pretty sure the offer I posted here originally is done, but at least for 30 days you can still get in on it. Seriously, let me know if you're interested.

Harry only nixed bringing up the ban because he knew that he only had about 40 votes on his side... FOR the AWB! Had he thought that he had enough votes, he would have gotten it PASSED! he doesn't need to pacify the NRA anymore... he got 6 more years... unbelievable, but cheating and/or dirty tricks usually work for the Dems!

Totally agree!
It is that type of behavior that has totally put me off of joining or contributing to any organization for a long time now. That includes political parties, religious organizations, charities that supposedly fight specific diseases ... and (dare I say here) even the NRA.
The root cause is that human organizations - like living organisms - have "self perpetuation" as their main goal, thus they concentrate first on fund raising and membership growth, with only leftover time on supporting the goal that caused them to exist in the first place.
So no organizations for me. But I do support my causes with individual effort, sometimes lots of it.
PS. I did think of one recent exception: I donated a car to the DAV last year - a worthwhile cause that so far has not disappointed me with follow-up.
