After some reading and recent purchase of a black PM40, I have decided to make my CM9 black as well.

I ordered a black PM9 slide, back, and slide stop lever from Kahr. Trigger will stay as is.

When the parts arrive, I will detail strip the CM slide and install the CM parts including barrel into the PM slide. Will also be adding dovetailed night sights and 5# striker spring.

Cost not much more than duracoat. Wish me luck. Range report to follow if all fits well.

Good luck! I hope that works out for you and the post update will be welcome.

That's why I advise guys to think about what they want in the way of features... cheaper to buy the P or PM to begin with. Not everyone will be satisfied with the "C" models.

I would like to see some more barrel swap tests... longer ones with possible updates to threaded for suppressors... just in case that becomes something I want to try. I did compare all of my 9mm's and barrels when I got the ported barrel for my P9. It "seems" to fit the K9, but I'm not going to fire it like that! The P9/CW9 barrel would NOT fit the PM9... too thick and larger, longer barrel shroud, etc.

While I prefer the DLC or black, I also like the SS satin finish... still beautiful pistols!

The lowers are identical. So is the barrel except for the rifling. Should work.

I still like the cosmetics of the CM with the SS slide, but have a few extra fun tickets in my wallet post holiday season so what the heck. At a quick glance I'll be able to distinguish the .40 from the 9 by the trigger color. :)

I'd like to know if I bought a pm40/cm40 if I could switch it to 9mm if the recoil was to much.

I wouldn't think so. There are lots of size differences... barrel shroud and slide barrel opening... and more, I'm sure. It would be better to sell the P/PM40 and get a 9mm.

Got my parts in from Kahr today.

If you want a black CM after the fact, this is an option to consider.

Took all the parts from the CM slide and installed in PM slide. Installed matching black PM back on slide, and also black PM slide stop lever.

There is absolutely zero difference in dimensions between the CM and PM barrels. They are identical in length regardless of what is published. And of course the polymer frames are identical as well.

I like it. EZPZ.

Vid should be up and running in a few minutes. Second vid is first firing at the range after the barrel and slide swap.

Nice vids.

Still never ceases to amaze me that for some gun models you pay a premium for bi-tone and for another gun you pay a premium for black.

Great job!

Can you try to see if the 9mm and 40 barrels interchange?

They say once you go black you'll never go back. Seems to have worked for Obummer. He got a second term. I used to like black, but the black in the White House has changed my opinion.

Swapping Kahr barrels from 9 to .40 doesn't work. It would be cool if Kahr could design an interchangeable barrel.

True dat, but I can impeach my blackness anytime it disappoints me. :)

Got my Wolff 5# striker springs in today.

Some guys have said they really don't feel a difference. Since I have the 9 and .40 which are the same trigger and springs, I did one pistol before the other. Eyes closed, my wife randomly placed them in front of me to guess which was which. Picked the 5# spring every time.

Nice easy upgrade to the trigger.

The package from Wolff came with 3 springs. If anyone lives in the Tampa/St Pete area and wants a 5# spring, PM me. I'll even put it in for you.

I could definitely feel a difference and the difference can be seen on a trigger pull guage.

This is absolutely exactly what I was looking to find an answer for. I applied for my CT permit, but haven't gotten it yet. But I've already test-fired and decided that I will be buying a CM9 when the time comes. And as I was pouring over the Kahr website, this very question of swapping out a "black" PM9 slide came to mind. An email direct to Kahr didn't end up being helpful, so I decided to Google-search to find a forum. And after registering on Kahrarms.com, this was the very first question that I wanted to see if I could find an answer to. So now I know exactly what I'm going to be doing. Thank you very much.

If u want a black cm9, just send the slide to a custm refinisher, It will be as good much cheaper as anutter slide and u know the side u now have works fine. A waste of money to buy anutter slide. U can't buy a lowerif u ever wanted to make two guns.

Not sur eif htat was in ur mind to do either but just sayin,IMO dn'tbuy a dlc finished slide.

Kahr 003PM9BS Slide $145.20
Kahr 004PM9BS Slide Back $26.40
Kahr 028PM9BS Slide Stop $24.20

Complete CM9 pistol cost $398.

I now have a black PM9 that can shoot lead bullets (CM barrel). Total cost $593.80

It all depends on what your intentions are. I wanted it black and with the more versatile barrel. Got both now for less than the cost of a PM9. Add night sights if you don't have them and then you are closer to the PM9 cost.

Just a side note FWIW: The polygonal(PM) and standard rifled barrel(CM) are the same price.

I'd like to do the same to my P380 to match my black PM9.
