Strange thing with my PM9 happened to me last week as I went to unload the pipe to put away for the evening...my extractor fell out!!??? My reaction as any normal person would be was "What the F*ck!!!".

There has not been anymore than 250 rounds through this thing!! It is now back at Kahr for inspection and repair..my question to everyone one is if they have ever experienced some thing like this before?

Not that I've heard. Seems like one of the pins had to have been left out. I'm surprised it would have worked for 250 rounds before it fell out though. Theres the extractor, then the spring and then the plunger rod thingy for lack of the correct term. Those keep pressure on the extractor, take one away or a horribly weak spring and it would just fall out. Let us know what you find out. Kahr will most assuredly take care of it without doubt.

Wow! I sent it out to them Tuesday morning and just got it back today :) Turn-around is pretty impressive on this one.

In just taking a quick look at it and to compare the details done, they replaced the assembly part along with lubing and polishing any parts that they deemed necessary and from the looks of it..the feed ramp too :)

Will know better after hitting the range sometimes next weekend and see how this all feels.

It kills me to have to say this but more than likely BAWANNA is right. I would bet that they left out of of those 3 needed parts to keept hat extractor from coming out. If indeed those parts are all in there, the extractor can't come out, oh my,,, off to see my "shrink" doctor to discuss how in the hell I could ever agree with BAWANNA or let alone the fact that probably he hit the nail on the ol head even......

Hope the shrink can help ya. I'm currently batting about 2 correct and 37 WRONG if my records are correct. Long as your goin could you ask what it means when the little people are in like different corners of your head, I started to say brain but didn't want open a whole new discussion, and they are arguing with each other.
I also note earlier that you mention cosmetic with regards to the finishing of those magazines that nobody told me about. I think rather than cosmetic we should perhaps inject "looks cool". Maybe I'll add it to my notes we'll abbreviate LC for Looks Cool. My ccw edc lc. Don't gotta a ring to it.

I'll console myself with the fact that you remember the first time (meaningful) and I'm humbled to be sharing the same air as you sir. I was like totally out of line seeking the gold star thing on only a second swag. I apologize and will happily remain in your shadows as one of the adoring little people.:photo:
You da man, you rock.

ok bye.

Perhaps the extractor pin was turned the wrong way, or even inserted upsidedown. That would still put pressure on the pin to hang around a while, but not lock it in and prevent it from being forced out eventually. I dare say if a part were missing, the spring or one of the pins, the extractor would have blown off before 250 rounds. Just a WAG.

At the risk of being wrong, I thought the same thing. It should have blown off very early if something was missing. I don't recall the pin or the spring being directional at all, they are round. The extractor itself only goes one way. Might have just hung on by pure luck??? Doubtful. Would have been nice if Kahr would have been more specific about what they put it in it. As long as it works I guess all is well.

I don't recall the pin or the spring being directional ...

That's my point. The pin is directional; it has a front and rear and the front must be turned to the correct alignment with the extractor. The front edge is contoured to nestle on top of the extractor, preventing it from coming out.

The pin that actually holds the extractor is directional in two directions. End to end there is a notched out section in the end that sits against the extractor; and the notch goes to the inside so that the tab is to the outside holding the extractor in.

There are instructions somewhere on this site on how to do a full disassembly of the slide. In Kahr-tech sub forum I think. Not hard if you have three hands or a vise. But you have to do a full disassembly to refit the extractor.

I don't know if it was my computer or the site but I didn't see ripley's reply before I posted mine. Man do I feel like the one late to the dance. Good info ripley.

I might take mine apart again. I recall that pin having to be correct to align with the extractor, so there must be extractor, a pin, a spring and then another pin on the back which is what I thought in the first place. If the pin was install incorrectly or backwards seems like the extractor would fall out. Maybe that front pin just wasnt cut right? Wish we could know for sure.
