And in NY that crap just might pass. Quermo and Bloomturds ultimate goals are irradication and confiscation.

Once again, if no one complies to an unconstitutional law, they can't enforce it. Screw em is what I say.

One more reason to stay the heck out of that state.

I saw a show on Fox of the CCW holders that were published in NT and they said no way they were giving up their guns, period.

So, with a "Republican" (and I use that term loosely and sarcastically), NY will be banning the vast majority of semi-auto handguns along with "assault" weapons.

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/01/14/ap-sources-new-york-has-tentative-deal-on-gun-control/

The expanded ban on assault weapons would broaden the definition of such weapons, banning semiautomatic pistols and rifles with detachable magazines and one military-style feature, as well as semiautomatic shotguns with one military-style feature. New Yorkers who already own such guns could keep them but would be required to register them with the state.

What exactly ya' think is a military-style feature? I have to suspect a rail, anything that COULD hold a mag w/ more than 10 rounds (even though they are banning > 7 rounds as well), maybe anything all black?

As I've said before. All it's gonna take is a mass shooting with a revolver + speed loaders or someone w/ a <= 7 round semo-automatic and a brown bag full of mags and ammo and handguns in their entirety will be the NEXT to go in NY.

It's now a law, not a bill. It was pushed through in 3 days, start to finish. No public hearings were held. Gov. Cuomo has already signed it.

Here is the link to the law:

http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/S2230-2013

And here are some of the highlights:

* Magazines over 10 rounds now illegal to possess. Yes that means selling them now, confiscation, or you become a criminal.
* No more purchase of magazines over 7 rounds.
* If you have an old magazine that has 8-10 rounds you may keep it grandfathered in, but it is illegal to load more than 7 rounds into the mag.
* All ammunition sales to be regulated with a background check each time.
* If you order ammo over the internet it must be delivered to an in-state vendor who is capable of doing a background check before it can be given to you.
* All private face-to-face sales of guns are illegal. Background checks for all sales.
* All assault weapons are banned henceforth, and the defintion of assault weapons are expanded (more on that below). You can grandfather in currently owned weapons (but not the mags; see above). And you can't sell grandfathered in assault weapons.
* The new defintion of assault weapons is follows (long so I inserted the exact language below. Note that you only need one characteristic to be considered an assault weapon:

S 37. Subdivision 22 of section 265.00 of the penal law, as added by
chapter 189 of the laws of 2000, is amended to read as follows:

Sadly, some former pro-gun legislators switched sides and voted for this bill (now law). Do not assume that any legislator is safe. Contact all of your local, state, and federal representatives & senators even if you believe they formerly were on our side!

Oh, I should add, this law does not exempt hunters. All hunting rifles and even shotguns must be registered. 22s also. Even to buy a pack of shotgun shells will require a background investigation - each and every time.

"VIII.
(II) A SEMIAUTOMATIC RIFLE THAT CANNOT ACCEPT A DETACHABLE MAGAZINE
THAT HOLDS MORE THAN FIVE ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION;"

So a tube-fed Marlin Model 60 .22 is now illegal? What a stupid Nazi law.

Make Cuomo & Bloomberg's goons plus all the LEO's carry 7 rounds or less and none of the features mentioned above. That's fair.

Weapon, ammo, and accessory manufacturers should boycott sales to LEO's of the state of NY. Actually, they already have started, and I hope many of the big names do the same. DISARM THEM, or at least make it hard for them to get anything.

This is going to spread to other states. On Friday we expect to see my state (MD) introduce a raft of new gun laws. We're aware of other states planning the same. And it's about 45 mins. from when it is reported that Obama will introduce what he's going to do at the federal level.

We're going to need the help of hunters, sportsmen, and other outdoorsmen. We need their support. The self defense and target shooter crowd alone aren't going to be sufficient. If you know any venue in which you can convey that message I urge you to do so.

The anti-gunners would like to split us apart. But I like this quote that someone else crafted about splitting apart the gun community:

Hunters know better than politicians what happens to those split from the herd.

Not all republicans are conservative and not all democrats are liberal. That's only true in the majority of the cases.
