View Full Version : My Confession
Forgive me fellow KahrTalk bretheren for I have blasphemed against the mighty Kahr. Subsequent to a most rewarding range session with the PM9 today, I made the fatal mistake of visiting the showroom of the store. The "serpent" spoke to me from across the room and laid the foundation for temptation from which I was powerless. The power of the dark side was much too strong to resist, try as I might. I have no clear recollection of the events as they occurred, however I now find myself assimilated by the Glock Collective and have assumed the identity of Gen 4 number 26. Luckily I have the ability to morph into multiple personalities, therefore the PM9 will not be lost to memory but simply required to move over and make room for a new addition.

Congrats! Nice. I too have been feeling a disturbance in the force of late and its name is Darth Glock XIX. I can't seem to stop thinking about adding one to the collection. I toss and turn at night thinking, Glock 19, second Sig P250 compact, or save my pennies for a Sig P229 or worse a new Sig M11-A1 (basically a P228).
Too many guns, not enough money.

Dang! you guys have ME thinking about another danged 9mm... right after I bought the P9 and a ported barrel. I keep thinking about a HIGH Capacity, somewhat compact 9mm... the G19. At least I can get it ported and put Trijicon HD Night Sights on it! I never wanted a Glock... but 15+1(?) sounds pretty good for another pistol for my wife!:D
I just ordered a ton of ammo... again. My wife just had dental work Saturday... $715! I just spent over twice that on MORE ammo... again! I'm going to have to talk to her about those danged questionable dental repairs! Next Saturday may be the last chance to add to our armory!

I must admit that the dark side got me recently as well. I have a couple of Kahrs but a voice kept talking to me about higher capacity. I am now an owner of a Glock 19 AND a Glock 23...both Gen 4. The Force really got a hold in this weak minded individual....oh well....I love them. They make great additions to my collection.

Nice pick up. I have the Gen2.5 G26 & love it. Mine came with 2 10-round mags & I added 2 15-round mags to the arsenal. Hard to beat the versatility of the Glock family. Enjoy! :D

I kept the Glock side, er dark side, at bay earlier this year w/ the purchase of a Sig P250. Tremendous gun for around $400-$450. At around $100 more, the Glock 19 is a great 15 rounder too. I've been looking for one, not seriously, but the current lay of the land have pushed them upwards of 650+. And mags, forget about it. They are STUPID expensive.
I pretty much gave up and just picked up more mags for my P250 for the time being. If I run across a good deal on a G 19, might snag it, but more likely than not...I'll just end up w/ a nuther P250. It's just dreamy to shoot, if you like smooth full pull DAO.

Magazines for the G19 seem scarce. I've got my XD45 and 12 "standard" mags, but one more 9mm with great capacity might be nice for wifey! I saw a compensated one online for $589+3% for CC + shipping, but mags are hard to find. I guess I'll just leave it to chance until this Saturday and the minor gun show here. Something tells me it will be busy! I'll try to be flexible! I was thinking about an XDS so I could get the Trijicon HD NS, but that's another LOW capacity pistol that I have plenty of.
Just feeling a little like TEOTWAWKI is at the doorstep! Money won't be worth as much as guns, bullets and food/water, etc. You'll need plenty of the first two to get or hang onto the last stuff... and they are good for barter, too.

While I'm not that into Glockage I do feel the pull of a Beretta 92. Specifically the Centurion inox.

I have my battle pistol... the XD45 Tactical with Trijicon HD NS and love it, but it's a huge cannon... not for CCW. I kind of would like to get something like the G19 for my wife... 15+1... kind of a smaller "battle pistol" for her... maybe ported. She doesn't really like any of them... says the 9-shot H&R .22 revolver is plenty... with 9 Stingers loaded. Her training was with the S&W M15 with adjustable sights. That's what we had for aircrews and the command post... along with the 12-ga Rem 870 in Europe for the command posts. Aircrews had shorter barreled revolvers the whole time I flew. The Berettas came in later.
I'm not really into Glocks, either, too blocky, but they work reliably and it's easy to find parts and mags, etc., except for THIS shortage!

Congrats
I picked up a Gen 3 Glock 26 about a year and a half ago used from a friend. It's place of residence is in the garage in a jacket pocket or in a M/C saddle bag. It's a good gun and shoot it pretty well but it's not one of my favorites.

My older son carries a G26. He likes it alot. I admit, I shoot it quite well and could go for one if my HK ever broke. I've had a G17 for years but almost never shoot it. I just never liked it much. The grip and I don't mesh like those of some other guns I do like. The G26 is the exception. Maybe that hanging pinky has something to do with it.
While I'm not that into Glockage I do feel the pull of a Beretta 92. Specifically the Centurion inox.
My 92fs of choice is the Vertec model. The grip suits my hand better. The action is so glassy smooth... ahhh, perfect. The INOX 92s are beautiful guns IMHO.

A single stack Kahr and a double stack is the perfect diversity in your carry options. I just prefer the S&W M&P line. I have matching CM9s and matching M&P9cs. I have 6 17 rd mags for the M&P with the grip extension, so the gun can pose as a 9c or a 9 full size. One of them is next to my bed.

For me, the G19 has too chunky a grip. Great gun. Versatility, parts availability and selection of hi cap mags are plusses, too. But I went for the Walther PPQ 9mm when a batch of them became available last fall, and I sure am glad I did! I got it at a great price. Now, availability is scarce and prices have gone thru the roof. The PPQ is every bit as robust and dependable as the Glock, it is the champion of ergonomics with a grip that works for me and large fore and aft slide serrations to aid in racking, the factory trigger is superior to expensively customized Glock triggers, and it has all controls ambi including the dual paddle mag releases like the HKs (I'm a lefty). The gun is a tack driver. Right now, availability of guns and parts is thin during the transition from S&W to Walther America, but they will be up and running in a month or so. Some people think the PPQ is ugly. I think it is beautiful because my engineer's mind understands the reason for every feature. :D

;)Fortunately, I don't have to confess,or deal with the 9MM temptation. Six years ago I was smart (lucky) enough to be seduced by a beautiful CZ75; IMHO still the finest full sized 9MM on the planet. So my decision to fill my 9MM compact gap with my second Kahr, a CM9, is a simple choice without guilt or remorse:D:)

CZs ROCK!
I've got a Phantom. 18 +1 rounds.
Just found out that a used one went for $890 on Gun Broker.
Yikes, I only paid $500.00 in 2010 for new.

But I went for the Walther PPQ 9mm
Other than (as you said) parts and mag availability, I think the PPQ is hands down the BEST 9mm striker fired pistol on the market today. It was tough for me not to get one when I opted for the Sig P250. Totally different guns. But I handled a PPQ at a couple of places in town right after it came out and that trigger was just too perfect and the ergos even more so.

For a full size, high capacity, service pistol?
I really like my HK P30.
They come in 9mm.
But mine is a 13+1 40 S&W with HKs DAO light LEM trigger.
She's hammer fired with ~4.5 lbs trigger for every shot.
Plus deadly accurate and bombproof.
It's a little blocky for concealed carry.
I prefer my P2000 357 Sig (12+1), P2000SK 40 (9+1)
and HK45C (8+1) in that role.

I love my Gock g23. It is my prefered carry piece. With the PM9 being a close second. I feel best when I have both. The G23 IWB one extra 10 rd mag. (the biggest I can legally carry) and then the pm9 in the pocket or ancle. That gives me 21 rds of 40. If that fails I have 7 of 9mm as a last chance backup.

My preferred carry piece is my HK45C.
8+1 with twin 10 round HK45CT mags gives me 29 rds of 230 gr +P 45 ACP.
And that's in a package about the size of a G23.

It could have been worse my dear mser, I had a similar outer body experience and ended up with a Ruger LCR in 357 not to long ago.
Talk about an ugly puppy , Oh well it does make for a convenient camping/hiking gun in any case.

Love the Glock 26 but alas it got pushed aside by my PM9 pocket carry. Now, if I'm going to belt carry, its my .45 XDM. Not as easy to conceal and not as comfortable to carry as the G26 but hey, its a 45.

The LCR has been tempting me a LOT lately.
My personal favorite pocket pistol is the now out of production
S&W 342 ti Titanium 38 +P.
11.1 oz empty it's the most comfortable pocket pistol I've got.
(She's just 13.5 oz loaded with 135 gr GDHP SB +P rounds)
The older I get the less I seem to care about comfort and replaced
it with a S&W 640-1 357.
Although in dress or tactical pants, these days, I mostly pocket carry a HK P2000SK 40.

I too had to fight the temptation of the big G machine. When I was shopping for my EDC in 9mm, my choice came down to the G26 and the CM9. I was having problems choosing between the two when my lovely wife says..... Just get the Kahr now and if you want the Glock later, by that too! WOOHOO! What a wife! Only thing is, now I will be going for the G19 instead so that I can get into IDPA with a little more capacity. Until my CM9 gets broken in, I still EDC with my Taurus PT145 Mil Pro (looks like as of 2013 has been left out of Taurus catalog. )

I am late on this thread as appears to be dead, but after reading the comments I thought I would add 2 cents.
Glocks are far from the dark side. They are ultra reliable pistols at a reasonable price. My opinion they offer unmatched performance at any price. If you own a Glock you have chosen wisely.
Every gun has a purpose. If I need deep concealment I take my pm9. If I want to look at something pretty I would reach for my polished cz75b. But for me the ultimate question is, if forced to defend your life or those you love, what do you want in your hand? I would grab my G19 and not think twice.

I love my G19 and the only reason I would grab it if I could would be the 15 round capacity. So it is my home gun and nuttin more. It fills that missing nitche for home use. That being said I do not dress to carry and I will not dress to carry, so my PMJ9 fits inmy front pocket 24/7when I walk out that door every day. It fits that nitch perfectly to. Glocks are great performers but don'tkid yourself they have issues to. My G19 went back once.. Our Indiana state boys carried the Glock 22 (over 1200 ) of them and they had so many issues that glock finally stepped in and replaced them all with G17 and thatis their carry weapon to this day
I also guess that if a choice is given me to defend my self or home front, a nice 8 round shotgun would be more useful. but the fokker will not fit in my pocket..:amflag:

My G19 sits on the nite stand along with it's attached light/laser combo. Only reason is, it's never failed, ( someday it will ), in 13 years. It's sole purpose is to allow me time, to get to my AK with light and red-dot.

Resist the G and go S&W M&P9c. If you add the 17rd mags with XGrips, you have the sub-compact with ability to has FS grip. Couple that with a PM9 or CM9 and you have the best of all worlds and super reliability. IMO!
