I've been carrying my CM9 in a Blackhawk IWB holster for about 6 months. It had terrible retention (my gun fell out on the floor of the restroom at church and I was sure that everyone in the sanctuary across the hall heard it). Since I carry with one in the pipe, I wanted something more secure. I considered a PJ holster since the reviews are so good but I really wanted leather. I bought a Galco and was unhappy because it hung up on the slide release. Then I saw a leather Kusiak holster on a forum for the S&W Bodyguard 380. The quality looked good and they listed on for the PM9 so I took the plunge. Minutes after ordering, my bride said, "I want one for my gun too!" so I called Pepi Kusiak and he included it in the same box with no additional shipping. I placed the order on Tuesday and received the holsters on the next Monday. He makes the holsters himself and guarantees satisfaction. Price is just $35 or $45 with a built-in mag holder. Here is a link to their site: Kusiak Leather (http://www.kusiakleather.com/) Pictures follow. The last one shows my CM9 with my bride's Bodyguard 380.

I also have this Kusiak leather holster for my CM9. I agree with you, it's a great carry holster. Just as comfortable as the PJHolster, and what I really like is it rides higher than the PJHolster, giving a slightly better grip acquisition. Now, I'm not bad mouthing the PJHolster by any means, as both holsters get equal time when I carry the CM9 IWB. Easy on & off too, always a plus. Enjoy! :D

While dropping your gun is a no no, you could slam your Kahr against the wall as hard as you want and it won't go off because of the internal safety. That is a great looking holster.

Thanks! I wasn't afraid of the gun going off but the sound of it sliding onto the floor seemed louder to me than it probably was. I could just see in my mind returning to the sanctuary with everyone pointing at me and asking me if I had dropped my gun in the bathroom. It wasn't a pretty thought. :o

I really like is it rides higher than the PJHolster,

This Kusiak looks to be a LOW riding rig to my eyes... does the grip sit ABOVE the belt level?

Just at the top of the belt. Very comfortable and I can still draw quickly.

Thanks for the pix.

What I thought... and typically this is regarded as LOW ride.. which I like :-)

So ... PJ rides even LOWER ... BELOW the belt????

Yeah, I guess it isn't really a high rider. To me, the Kusiak rides a little bit higher & straighter due the the PJHolster cant of about 15 degrees. I checked both holsters for you, and I get a better grip acquisition because the trigger guard on the Kusiak doesn't come up as high. The backside of the Kusiak also doesn't come up as high as the PJHolster. The Kusiak just has more of the grip exposed for acquisition. I just get a better grip with the Kusiak. Hope my explanation makes sense. :D

How good is the retention? I'm guessing it must be good since you switched to it because of a retention issue. It's a nice looking holster, thin, simple, right up my alley.

Retention is great. It takes a deliberate draw to remove it from the holster. By that I mean that it won't fall out even with a lot of movement (jogging, bending over, etc.) but comes out quickly when you need it to. Gives me a feeling of safety while not impeding using my weapon quickly if required. I also appreciate that when I draw or re-holster it does not hang up but allows a smooth motion - something I could not do with the Galco.

+1...well said. I do love this holster for when I carry the CM9 IWB. :D

I wouldn't worry too much, as the holster gets used, it loosens up slightly, allowing the CM9 to seat a little farther down, hence, a little more trigger guard coverage. I wear this holster frequently, and have never worried about the trigger being covered. If you want "Full" trigger guard coverage, then check out the PJHolster. It too is a great holster. Either way, I think you'll be fine. Let us know which way you decide to go! Good luck. :D

I ordered a PJ pocket holster a week or so ago. I may order his IWB after I get the pocket holster and see how well I like it. But I'd prefer something in leather, tuckable, rides low, and doesn't add much bulk. They don't list a tuckable Kusiak on their website, but do have them for other models that are tuckable, so I'd think making one wouldn't be a problem. I just need to contact them and see.

I wear a tucked in polo shirt 5 days a week with no coat except for the winter. I also spend about half of my time behind a windshield. I had originally thought I'd pocket carry the CM9, but I'm just not sure that's going to work out. We'll see once the PJ comes though.

Can anyone comment on this Kusiak holster vs. the ones that have a huge hide backing?

My inexperienced impression is that the backing would help to even out the pressure from the gun so that no sharp edges poked me in the ribs, but that it would get sweatier.

I saw a lot of comments here about how comfortable this is, so I'm encouraged by that. But my comfort threshold is a little higher than most. I wish I could trade in my skin on a new one.

I have no experience with a "High Leather Backed" holster for the PM/CM9, but I have no problems wearing my CM9 in the Kusiak or PJHolster without anything protecting my skin. My normal carry is front pocket or in one these holsters, while wearing a t-shirt for protection. The Kusiak is versatile enough that it can be carried from 2-5 o'clock, and even cross draw while driving. I saw you PM'd someone on a used Kusiak, I think you'll really like it. Good luck! :D

Yeah, I figured it was worth the risk.
Do you tuck in the t-shirt, and how visible does that make the grip?

My reference to a t-shirt means I tuck it in, put on the holster, and cover with a Hawaiian type shirt or light jacket. I can (but rarely do) wear just an un-tucked light shirt over the holster, with the gun/holster against my skin with no problems. Normally in the case that it's too hot for anything more than a t-shirt or polo, the CM9 goes in the front pocket! Once you get the holster, play around with positions & clothing combos (while the gun is un-loaded) and you'll get a feel for what I'm talking about. In regards to the grip on any weapon I carry, I used to worry about it in the beginning, but now I don't worry about it showing, as you'll find most people won't notice anyway! Obviously, the tighter the shirt, the more the grip can be noticed. Hence, exactly why I like Hawaiian shirts in any kind of weather! :D

I "hide" my existing OWB holster with a cellphone pouch in front of it and that helps, but people still notice if I'm not wearing an overshirt. I'm working toward trying to carry with a tucked t-shirt, even if I have to tuck it loosely and let some folds of fabric cover the grip.

I tried out a Desantis holster at the store that was really low, but it was uncomfortable and I had to do some serious digging to get a couple of fingers around the grip.

Well, I'll try this one out and see. Maybe I just need to lose some weight so I can wear a tucked t-short and an overshirt without sweating a river.

From Kusiak's web site, the model we're talking about is for the PM series, specifically the PM9 & PM40. It will work for the CM series also! :D

As I know you're a huge PJHolster fan, as am I, I think you'll like this one just as well. Granted, it's a straight drop holster, but it does allow you to carry pretty much anywhere you want, to include crossdraw while driving (for a righty)! Easy on & off...easy draw & re-holstering...not quite as thin as the PJ, but very comfy just the same! Look forward to your thoughts! :D

New guy here in the Kahr world. In the state of Ohio it is illegal to carry in a place of worship, not sure I would chance it either. But that hoslter is a nice one for the money. Nothing more embarrasing than your piece comeing out at the wrong time. I use the Remora sticky holsters and love them. No belt clip at all, just a sticky outside material to grip to your clothing and it holds tight. The nice thing about not haveing a belt clip is you can position it any way you want to, I love that you can cant at any angle, or place in any position on your waist, you don't have to worry about a belt loop being in the way, ride it as high or low as you want. Very comfortable holster. I have 8 of these for various pistols I own, I like the ones with the Kydex top support the best for IWB. I just received one for my MK40 and it also fits my M&P Shield 40 like it was made for it. Maybe better than it fits the Kahr.

In Washington it is still legal to carry in a place of worship. We attend a small church of 60-80 people. My wife and I are very involved with a 12-step recovery ministry that meets in the church fellowship hall in the afternoon. We started carrying because of (1) the crazy state of our world and (2) because some of the drug dealers in town are a little miffed that we've taken some of their previous customers. Our pastor is aware we carry and appreciates that we are there in case of a problem.

I hear what you folks are saying, would just hate to loose my legal right to carry because I did not follow the rules. Note to self.... I don't agree with the rules, just have to follow them. I read a post about someone looking for a Remora holster that fit better than the recogmended one. I have a holster for the S&W bodyguard 380 that fits the holster very nice. if you were to order it with the sweat gaurd and the Kydex reinforcement it would be a nice holster. If I could post pictures I could show you. Fits better than the one I ordered for the pistol.

Answered my own questions, seeing as how no one else would. :( He got slammed right about the time I ordered mine exactly 3 weeks ago. I just got it this afternoon. But WTH, I have my CM9 in the holster now sitting at about 10:00 on my waistline, and it is very comfortable! :D Finally, I have found the right holster to carry my CM9 AIWB! :D Yay! :D:D

This holster is quite unique in it's design. Instead of sewing the edges together flat at the back, he brings the edges together end to end, sews or binds them together in some way and then covers the seam with a very thin strip of leather inside and out so you cannot see how it is done. Look at this pic and you'll see what I mean.

http://www.kusiakleather.com//~stores/435630_preview.jpg

This creates a perfectly shaped pocket that the trigger guard fits into and, in fact, the snug fit of the trigger guard provides the retention because there is no boning at the ejection port or any other form of retention. But the retention is perfect. This method of closing up the back, rather than the traditional method, makes this holster very much smaller and I think that smooth rounded contour adds to the comfort that I am experiencing against my soft lower belly. :p Look at this FIST holster for comparison.

http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/holster/6b.jpg

It starts at $64.95 and goes up with addition of mouth reinforcement. And do you see how much wider it is at the bottom? I'll bet that thin edge makes it less comfortable AIWB.

A very unconventional design, the Kusiak. Very simple. But it works!

I have continued to wear the gun/holster all day every day and the retention seems to have improved as the holster molds itself to the gun. It is still perfectly comfortable at the 10:00 position and I am really enjoying having my CM9 out front where I can see it and so easily draw it, even when seated! The holster is super stable; it doesn't shift around or up or down at all. The great clip makes it like the holster is bolted to my belt, and yet it is easy to put on and take off.

My shiny polished CM9 has found a new home! :D

I love this holster as well as my PJHolster, I just find this holster a tad bit easier to grip the CM9 for the draw because of the straight drop. Enjoy your new Kusiak, but don't forget about the PJ. :D

Glad you like your new Kusiak holster. Sorry I missed your previous question about shipping times. When I ordered mine, it took a week - but since posting pictures and positive comments, Pepe says he's seen a major increase in Kahr sales. I love mine and wear it every day. Retention is still great and even after a full day of running around doing errands, driving in the car, and even taking long walks (weather permitting here in the great North Wet) I forget I have it on.

I've had one of the Kusiak holsters on order since March 3rd and it still hasn't shipped. I would have to say that customer service is terrible from these people. They said they had a lot of orders but It's been almost a month wait already when they said it would be 10-15 days. On top of that I got a shipment notification from paypal on March 14th but they say it hasn't shipped. Why print a shipping label if you aren't planning on shipping the holster????

Reviving a very old thread here but I just have to because I'm so darn impressed.

I carried AIWB with my Ruger SPNY for 20 years but I haven't been able to do so comfortably with my PM9 or PM40. Just haven't found the right rig. Noting that the shape of the Kusiak holster is very similar to the shape of the cheap yet extremely comfortable nylon Assault Systems holster for my Ruger, I figured what the heck?

The holster shipped the very next day after my ordering and I received it a few days after that. It's only been a couple of days but FINALLY, I can comfortably carry AIWB again. Thin, comfortable, unique design, well made. It's like a minimalist design yet still retains great functionality.

I am absolutely gonna order another for my PM45 that is on the way to me. Only decision now is whether or not to opt for the tuckable version. Excellent holster!
