I am trying to figure out if there is an issue with my newly purchased PM9 or not. When I release the slide slowly, with the magazine out, there is a bit of a catch about halfway through. I know that you don't really need to do this slowly, but I noticed this when I was trying to hand rack a few times to help break it in. Here's a video showing what I'm talking about.

I have shot this gun 56 times so far and plan on shooting at least another 150 in the next week or so to help break it in. So far, I have had no feeding issues or any other issues at all. So maybe I'm just being a bit paranoid.

Edit: and no, I am not aiming this gun at my roommate's dog.

I think that will smooth out immensely with some range time. Slide riding over the cocking cam I suspect.

Nice dog!

My cw9 does it, but I have 300+ rounds down range and it is smoothing up.

Nice hound.

I'll attempt to move this to the PM section per your request. Didn't recognize the handle in your PM.

No worries.

Normal. It will get smoother. You're feeling the cam engage to move the barrel up and lock into battery. Just shoot it. Don't ask too many questions, get range time in instead.

Edit2: and just realized this is in the wrong sub thread, gun is a PM9, not P series. I'll just leave it here anyway instead of making another one though.

trainer, I can read that airdales lips and he is telling u , "just shoot the fokker like u stole it" and quit worrying about it.:boink:

I am in way an expert, but - 1. Did you clean the gun before taking it to the range?
2. If you have not read this thread, it is advised -

3. After taking my CW9 outta the box, read the above thread, cleaned and racked the CW probably a couple 100 times before firing first round thru it. My http://www.usamustangs.com/forum/images/smilies/2cents.gif , Kel

yeah, i followed that thread except I probably only hand racked it 50 or so times, mainly because I dislocated my shoulder the day after I bought my handgun. I can rack it fine now, but it still is a little uncomfortable for my shoulder unless i have it stable against my leg while sitting.
Thanks for all the input.

It is a perfectly normal condition. What you are feeling is the barrel camming up into lock up with the slide.

Yeah the cam is engaging and partially cocking the striker.. totally normal.
