View Full Version : A Glut of Magazines?
Today, the governor of NY, signed into law, legislation that bans the possession of high capacity magazines. Pre-ban mags will not be grandfathered.
Citizens have one year to destroy, or sell their mags out-of-state, or be in violation of the order.
Will citizens comply? Will this suddenly create a glut of magazines on the market?
What do you think?

I would not comply, but I'd also be taking the year grace period to sell my house and tell NY to go **** themselves.

I'd be pretty pissed, and I'd probably respond by boxing up my magazines in a guaranteed waterproof case with some silica gel and burying them. And buying some smaller magazines. Then I'd start making plans to move out of state. But then, I'd never live in NY anyway.
I was going to ask a similar question about "assault weapons" in general. So let's broaden the topic, if that's OK (I'll delete my post if it's not).
What about JUST mandatory registration of firearms? Let's say that a new ban goes through, and it doesn't make you give up your AR-15, but it does make it illegal to own one without registering it with the state. What would you do?

Not me. I won't register nothing. I'm gonna stock up on some large PVC pipe and some end caps and keep the shovel handy.
I also plan to mount a heavy duty metal box in my van as I may want to take a few with me in case they want to crash the house during the day to collect. I predict they will do most of that **** on the East coast and California so we'll have plenty of advanced warning to prepare.
I'm actually starting to relish the thought of another civil war. I don't see any other solution to fixing all the stuff the dumbocrats have spoiled.

I'm not selling anything, I'm not registering anything and I'm not burying anything. If the government wants my guns let them come and take them.
I'll be selling, my services to the Confederate Army. I'll be registering with the CSA draft board, and the only thing I'll be burying is damned liberals.

The only reason I would bury is I can't possibly pack them all with me all the time and I'd not put it past them to sneak in while I'm at work (something they wouldn't understand, work that is) and take em.
If I'm home it's give me liberty or give me death to protect the shovel.

I have fifteen pistols and a carbine but I only have three mags over ten rounds. They belong to my HK USP 40 and are 14 rounds each.

Problem for you O'Dell would be NY took the limit down from 10 to 7. That is, if you lived in NY.

Glut of high cap mags?
You can't be serious.
Just try to buy a high cap mag for anything right now.
The $150 price gouged Glock 33 rounders, on CTD, vaporized in days flat.
Brownells, the world's largest supplier of firearms, has reportedly sold three-and-a-half years worth of magazines in just seventy-two hours.

America is afraid right now.
Very afraid.

+1. Absolutely !! Move up here to North Dakota. You'd fit right in !!:)
I agree, absolutely no glut. In addition to the above, I know S&W is reporting the backlog for 25 round magazines on their M&P 15-22 (yes - a simple 22!) is 6 months to one year. I saw one of those mags sell on ebay for $100. (MSRP is $20.) I saw another one sell for $150! Even the 10 round mags are selling for $60-70 right now. It's just crazy. One Fox News report I saw said that one vendor (missed the start of the show so I didn't catch the name) has a one million magazine backorder.

Now see why I am tempted to cash out my M&P 15, magazines, and the ammo?
Also my M&P 15/22 and magazines.

Aside from a huge profit which is of course the American way I would see that as giving into the man. I use the word man very loosely. All I could do to restrain myself from using the M word.
I'm history, lurking to do my duties but my hip boots aren't high enough to ward off all the current BS.

at this time even the senate does nothave the votes to pass obummers b.s.. If u red some of the fine print, an assulat weapon merely has to have a pistol grip and it is deemed an assualte weapon. Certainly wiser people than obummer and holly joe biden will see through that sh!t real fast. His executive order sh!t is merely sh!t that the federal government should have been doing in the first place.
In a few words ol jocko says fokk u obummer and the horse u road in on.
I tll u after seeing some of the Hitler photos, obnummer just needs a mustach, which really takes a real man to grow but he could pass as Hitlers clone. Just sayin

I suppose it could be seen as giving in, if people thought I was motivated by fear.
It's just that I want to get my mortgage paid off and buy a nice diesel pickup and travel trailer, and the money I'd get from those two guns and accessories in this market would be a nice jump toward that goal.
But I probably won't do it. I guess I'll just focus more on trying to get my customers to upgrade/replace their old crusty servers, and generate more income that way.

I believe it is still coming.... in two years. Lately, our pres has been blaming the repubs in congress (always has) for all of the problems with our debt and now he has put forth gun laws for them to vote on. I don't believe congress will approve these and as we all know, gun violence is not going to change. He is going to continue to blame the congress (repubs) for every death for the next two years and continue his fight to make them look like the cause of all of Americas problems. There will be a huge push for the dems to take over congress and then the next major violent situation, he will once again come out and try to save the world, only then he will have all of the votes he needs to get it done. On top of that it will be congress's fault and completely legal.
remember folks...he supports the 2nd ammendment - I heard him say it so it has to be true :der: IMPEACH!!!

As I recall, you were/are, at most, ambivalent about the gun anyway. So sell it.
The half of my collection I really don't care about is available for sale 'cause, well, I don't really care about it and there's panic buying.

My M&P Sport is listed on gunbroker. In the past 2 days, I've seen them sell for $1700 to $2000. Of course, I've already spent that money on an AK. :)

I know AKs aren't American.
But the elegance in their simplicity and design is undeniable.
Even though my Arsenal has gone to Las Vegas for some feed ramp work.
I'm still very impressed with its overall quality and function.
I fancy myself as a conosure of fine firearms triggers.
And my 100% Bulgarian AK trigger is nothing short of outstanding.
If there is a silver lining to this 2nd Amendment attack?
Forcing my hand and getting a FU Obummer Commemorative AK is it for me.
