Holding breath, saying a prayer.
Regardless, I hope it stay wrapped up in the courts until deemed unconsitutional. Reid has already said anything congressional will be months before it is addressed as the defecit and economy is the priority.
If BO does anything using executive power, it should be limited, but we know how that goes. He is treading on impeachment if he bypasses Congress on anything 2A. And that is way more extreme than Slick Willie's escapades. And NY's state law should be in court very soon. Blantantly, an rape of the 2A.
This country has not been so divided since the Civil War.

Any and all gun control measures are nothing but BS....... they could care less about reducing crime....... the whole thing about lead and protecting the environment is just another ploy to muster more support for tromping on our second amendment right!

You're right. When everything they do, FAILS, they'll come back and say they didn't do enough. And it will never be enough. They just don't and won't get it.

With regard to NRA membership, I have always gone for the five year program. I just renewed with that last year. At 11:11 A.M. today ( right in the middle of president Santa Claus's speech) I got pissed, and bought a life membership. I will never live long enough to make it practical, but as I said I was pissed. (cue the smoke coming out of my ears).
Damn, I feel better.
You all do the same

340PD,.more peopleshould get pissed like u did. I know their ain't a person on ths forum who wants to end these needless shootings but their approach is notgoingto do it, Unless we wantto become a Nutzi cuntry or like Japan, who has no guns,or military as they let us Americans who kicked their fokking assesalltheway back to tokyo, do their fighting for them, then people are gonna die in this cuntry. When we fight i the cuntry to allow illegals and fokkingtowel heads the same rights asu andI who are legal american cistizens, then sumpin is wrong. When we can'tmention religion in our schools but allow mosks to bebuilt across the street from schools etc, then sumpin is wrong. When this cuntry finally gets their heads out of their asses and starts putting people in office that have COMMON SENSEVALUES, then maybe we will be getting some where. Right now with assholes like obummer and biden and pelois and feinstein, were going backwards. I hope the NRA pulls out every stop measure it can, Theyta re gettingcriticised for their video on obummers half breeds, and I am glad they did it as the same time that obummer stood those make believe kids behid him on the podium today. Iguessit is OK for him to use props but oh my let the NRA use props which by theway they did not sow obummers kinds at all, nor for that matter any kids.Fokk and shame on the liberal media for not trying to see the real message the NRA was saying.
My personal opoinon, obummner ould give a rats ass about sandy sschool shootin, he just seen it as an opportunityt to gather support to go after gun owners, and he hates the NRA.He truly does..
Hell just send the NRA $25, u don't have to pay 300 to become a life member, .

This is Obama's action plan - the things that he feels he can do by Executive Order. This does not include the fact that they will be pushing very strongly for a new "assault weapons" ban and a 10 round magazine limit in the Congress.
(Source: NEWSMAX (http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/gun-violence-reduction-obama/2013/01/16/id/471716?s=al&promo_code=11F75-1))
President Barack Obama said Wednesday he will take these actions by Executive Order:
1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background-check system.
2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background-check system.
3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background- check system.
4. Direct the attorney general to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.

(http://www.newsmax.com/surveys/GunControl/Should-Obama-Increase-Federal-Gun-Control-/id/64/kw/default?promo_code=11F75-1) 5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
6. Publish a letter from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
10. Release a Department of Justice report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
11. Nominate an ATF director.
12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
15. Direct the attorney general to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun-safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.
16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
17. Release a letter to healthcare providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
19. Develop model emergency-response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within Affordable Care Act exchanges.
22. Commit to finalizing mental-health parity regulations.
23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

The question is will congress do it? I don't think they will.....and if they don't, will he then come back with executive orders doing it?

Those are the questions. And appropriate ones. My guess:
1) House will not. No way. Not if the establishment Republicans want to get voted back in in 2014. They cave, Tea Party gets revived and the Republican primaries get mighty interesting.
2) Senate may but it will be hard fought and much smaller in scope and seemingly against NRA-approved Reid's wishes. He reminds me of Grima Wormtongue. :what: But he will be feeling pressure to cave big time from the liberals.
3) Nothing major legislatively will happen then BHO does EO January of 2015. Then the fireworks may happen. It will be the 150th anniversary of the end of the unfinished war, you know. That's what some call it in the South.

The list above from JFootin doesn't address much except to make sure the background checks include mental health. I guess he's leaving the PPT background check for Congress as well as the other stuff he wants. Maybe so he can play politics saying Republicans want to kill your babies while he says conservatives pointing out the he has guards at his kid's school as foul play for bringing his kids into the debate. I think Obama needs a mental health background check!

I don't think he'll have any success in getting any gun bills through except maybe the max ten round mag. A lot of the Dems in the House and Senate aren't behind him. Harry Reid has even run on a pro-gun agenda in the past and I think he has a good rating with the NRA.
As far as the 'instant background check" is concerned, how will that work? An individual can't get that kind of info without violating privacy laws. I guess it would have to handled through FFL's.

I do not think he will touch it if congress shoves it up his ass. He can then blame the republicans or who ever but he did his part. I still say the fight is out of the dog with obummer, He wants to play golf and enjoy his last 4 years... I think the senate will have a hard time with what the presidnet wants even, Seems H.Reed thinks it might be a hard sell, they know the pr!ck is gone in 4 years but many there still want to stay in office.I would hat eot think of a senator from Texas, or the coloradao states teaming with obummer. I don't see much support for the great on in the Midwest either. Sure NY and komiforia will do all they can and cuome has certainly told the people of NYto go fokk themselves. Tjhere might be a realpayback for that move to, I don'tthink he set himself up for a run at any presidency with his strick gun regulations, whent he vast majority of the cuntry feel otherwise.
Just sayin

don't u think someone should check out Sebelius and Duncan before sending them out on a mental health witch hunt? There is just a very fine line between Sebelius and Duncan from a true nut case..Just sayin

Exactly what Old Lincoln said.
I'm sure that a lot of the 23 items are already being done in some cases. Obama didn't do or propose much of anything if you ask me. But he can now talk about all he did so people can fall prone and worship him as the great one that cares soooooo much.
One thing for sure, I'm not answering any questions around #16.

It's funny being in a wheelchair they always ask if I'm being abused at home. Being deaf sometimes helps the entertainment. I told em my wife is sometimes mean to me. They get excited and the wife gets very unhappy.
I was only asked the guns at home thing once and I told them nope, I got em all on me, wanna see? The declined and that was the end of that interrogation.

Should have seen the look on a prostrate specialist face when he dropped my drawers. I'd never had that humiliation before and I had to focus on trying to hold myself up with my arms so he had to down trou.
He let em fall uncovering the PM45 in the ankle rig, he was very polite and respectful after that.
I didn't like the guy I think his grandfather was flying a plane while my grandfather was on a boat back in 41.
My regular doc says I should go see another one, to make sure where we're at. Some high numbers or something in a blood test which I have no idea what has to do with a doc wanting to have his way with me in a mano mano kind of way ya know?

Just from the brief narrative, it sounds like your PSA test was high so you went to the urologist for a check of your prostate for possible prostate cancer. I had the same thing done but I had my hip rig on. Had to remove my Kahr from the holster before I dropped trou'. I could tell that wasnt something that usually happens in the office.

too bad.... my doc was finally convinced that both he and his wife needed to get their concealed carry license...been working on him for a few years:D. Even though he's "affiliated" with a hospital group that ain't so "friendly", the signs haven't appeared...yet. When they do, I guess I'll be doctorless:rolleyes:
