The gun buying panic finally got me. I just HAD to buy one more rifle before the ban so I bought an Arsenal SLR107-63, 1500 rounds of Wolf, and 6 mags. I'll have her in my hands some time next week. She looks like this except she doesn't have a muzzle brake. Also, the stock folds to the left side.

I've heard Arsenal is one of the better ones to get. I like everything else lagged and lost. You got it just in time with plenty of fuel and fuel holders. I'm happy for you.

Mine is a Arsenal SLR-106U AK Pistol chambered in NATO 5.56x45 (223).
It's not 922r compliant and is 100% Bulgarian parts.
Manufactured and assembled by Arsenal of Bulgaria.
I'm new to this stuff and might be totally wrong about it?
But I think these pups are actually AK74 model guns - not really AK47s.

Very nice, Greg! I especially like the Saiga.
You are right, Barth. The 5.56 is AK74. I considered getting that but wanted the heavier hitting 7.62x39. Plus, I'll have one more caliber to look for if things get really hairy.

I think the AK47 variants are some of the most reliable weapons around. Don't expect tack driving accuracy, but you can expect it to go bang everytime the trigger is pulled, even in the worse conditions. The 7.62 round is a little more versatile than the 5.56 round, it's legal to take deer with here, while the .223 is not. We have to use a bullet of 6mm or greater for deer. I've never had any problems with them, no jams, no stovepipes, they fire everytime the trigger is pulled. They are plenty accurate for deer hunting out too 100-150 yards, much like a 30-30.

Barth, I think that's pretty much it. I've got the 4 most common rifle calibers...22LR, .223, 7.62x39, and .308. I need to buy a few spare parts and more ammo/mags when the chance arises.

Looking for kooks, mentaly unstable types, threats of violence. Trying to figure out a way to stop the crazies before they go to the school. Probably will be about as effective as the AWB was. They want the info for the background checks. The guy in CT didn't buy any guns, he killed his mother and stole her guns. I would like to see someone nail him on why he thinks some of these measures will benefit, and especially why he thinks a new AWB and mag limit will help when history proves that they don't.
At least he didn't try to order all of us to tell the doctor the truth if he asks us about our guns. "No, doc. I don't own any guns."

The third guy killed his mother with a hammer.
Spent 17 years in prison (guess 17 years is all a human life is worth?).
And then was released back into the public to kill again.
Would be nice if killers stayed behind bars for life.
Maybe have much stronger penalties for using guns to commit crimes would be a welcome topic of conversation.
But no.
A pistol grip on a rifle, or length of the magazine,
now that's some important stuff right?
I'm speechless at the absurdity of it all.

Thanks :D (Was going to say "That's what she said." Oh wait, I just did!)
It's just a WASR, but a darn good one. Never had a hiccup with it in close to 2k rounds.
I sanded and stained the wood with red dye and several coats of red mahogany Watco Danish oil. I like the looks of the traditional AK grips, but the Hogue feels so awesome - way better than the little stick. Commie's must have baby hands.

Yes, but they make up for it with their nice wood. :p
Seriously though, I just bought two 10-round mags just in case the ban passes (so I can take her out in public if I want to).

I have a wasr 10 I bought last summer just to have one. I love it it has the Russian Cold War look with the slant break and bayonet. Out the door around $400. I could get $900 out of it easy right now. I won't though. Lol

My Bulgy shipped from the mother country, for US import, with a 5 round mag.
legally I think it's a low capacity pistol.
Isn't that nice?

The AK74 is going to be my last gun purchase for a while.

I've lost count how many times I've said "no more guns".
And then folded like a cheap lawn-chair.
It's not really lying.
Just a poorly veiled attempt at self-control.
I did get twenty three 30 round mags.
A boat load of high end NATO 5.56 ammo.
And...

LOL, small hands.....
I have nine 30-rounders for mine, mostly metal commie mags. My wife bought me three Tapco 30 rd mags for Christmas. They are pretty dang respected among AK shooters as far as a poly mag goes. I sent her a link where they were on sale for $5.75 each. It made here sick when I showed her how they were going for over $60 each on gunbroker the end of last month. She said she would have bought 20. :9:
Have fun with the AK. You might end up liking it more than the AR! I shoot mine more than my Colt. They are just built to go & go & go.....

I don't know anything about ak-47's but I have always wanted one. Not sure how urgent to be here in Texas. It's a Romanian Wasr 10 and its all black. It comes with 1 30 rd mag. He is asking $600. Is that a good price? What should I look for or ask about?

Absolutely a great price as of now. WASR's are going for $1000-1500 right now on gunbroker. Local shops are $800. They were $350-400 2 years ago.
Check for front sight post cant, which all AK's can have, and check for excessive mag wobble, which again can happen in all AK's. I fondled an Aresnal back in November that had an inch of play with a 30-round mag
WASR's are imported as single stack mag wells and routed out, hence no AK "dimples". They have metal tabs inside the mag well to secure the magazine.
Century Arms used to have issues, but all of them I have seen in the last few years have been good. Mine has been super, and the finish is really good.
Right now the best AK/AR out there is the one you can find and find at a decent price.

Thx les strat. Any special markings or numbers I should be looking for. How much are extra mags going for and are they hard to find?

No numbers to speak of. You will find them ranging from over 30 years ago forward. It is what gets done to them at Century Arms. Most of the time, if the front sight post is straight and there is no mag wobble you'll be GTG. Some people do say the arrown inside the triangle stamp on the trunion was military surplus and good rifles. A guy with more AK knowledge than me said mine was one that was built at Cugir for export to Iraq in the late 80's. Had something to do with my serial # not being typical. IDK.
Good luck finding mags right now. It should come with two 30-rounders though. If you can find them, the Tapco 30-round mags work well, but I do prefer metal Com-block mags.
