The obvious divide between people who are 2A proponents and gun control folks is now getting very personal for me.

I use Facebook quite a bit and have "liked" many Pro 2A sites and Gun companies. Occasionally I "share" some interesting item that's been posted on one of these sites.

I have gotten some positive feedback from these posts and shares, but I have also gotten some really shocking negatives. From people who I honestly thought were a lot smarter than they apparently are.

I have one friend who is a raging liberal, pro Obummer person who's married to a retired Army Officer/Attorney. She's constantly spouting about the lack of need for "Assault Weapons" and protecting the chillens.

I have another friend who I would have sworn was as conservative and pro 2A as Bawanna, who posted something the other day about "No one needs an AR15 or 30Rnd Mags and we have to ban these now to protect the chillens"

I have gotten so pi$$ed off reading these posts I have "unfriended" both these people. I have tried to no avail to express the true meaning of the 2nd Amendment but it's falling on deaf ears.

I am truly shocked at how ignorant these people are. I rarely discuss politics in gatherings, since it usually degenerates into a pi$$ing contest but this is above politics in my opinion. When we start throwing away our constitutional rights, it's elevated to a completely almost sacred level.

All of this bothers me quite a lot and aside from putting some distance between me and them I don't know what else to do. Talking reason hasn't worked. Showing statistics and trying to explain that once a sacred right is gone, others will follow falls on deaf ears. It's very sad. Sorry for the vent but appreciate the forum to do so.

I don't have a facebook account or even any friends for that matter (except for my kahrtalk friends.) I don't need any of my old friends looking me up.

Now the wife on the other hand is a social media person, pro 2A, and likes arguing about it, especially with her left coast relatives. Sometimes she gets so mad though I have to tell her to turn that thing off.

Forgive them, for they know not what they do.

My Sister in Law is a raging 0bummer Liberal, and sometimes "shares" pro-0bummer and anti-GOP crap. When she does, I immediately post something red-blooded, conservative, and that I know will twist her panties so tight she'll need surgery to remove them.

She's never commented on my posts, and I've never commented on hers.

I have another friend, ex-military (Veet nayam) who is gung-ho 2A, but sometimes posts pro-0bummer nonesense. I can't figure him out. I usually "like" his pro-2A posts and ignore the rest.

I see it as a good way to gauge the other side's mood. It's an intelligence tool - make good use of it.

Anger is good for you. It raises low blood pressure and aids digestion. Lately I find myself is a state of perpetual anger. :)

Ditto! I (we) do not have facebook accounts for the same reason. If I wanted every jackass that I've known all my life getting in touch with me, then I'd have one I guess. But no thanks, the few friends I want, I have and keep in touch w/ them in other ways.

I participated in Twitter for awhile for business purposes, but have since (after a couple years) pulled the plug on it and deleted my account. Just not worth the headache.

The problem is the nature of things like Facebook and Twitter and the heterogeneous nature of any given persons friends and followers. Unlike a 'topic specific' forum like this, those platforms are EVERYBODY and EVERYTHING and unless you keep it private and in essence make it like a single topic/subject forum, everybody sees your stuff and people feel the need to share everything like what they had for lunch and the difficulty of their last bowel movement. But once you hit a hot-button-topic, the poo-storm starts. It's just not worth it.

By and large, the Facebook, Twitter, social media community at large is liberal, screaming liberal...so you are just asking for a fight there. Yes, you'll get some people to come to your defense. But I opt to keep my blood pressure down and stick to 'birds of a feather'. Most people tend to hang out w/ people like them, but making a statement on Facebook or Twitter is like doing it in the middle of a wedding or a party. Not exactly the same thing.

No thanks! Glad we have avoided social media and will continue to avoid it.

I was leery about Facebook but did join to see pics and stories about my family. I also kept apace of the privacy hacks and tried to warn off my real friends from playing the Farmer game and others explaining that those not only exploit them but everybody whose site she visits. The crap kept up so I revoked my membership and forced Facebook to delete all my data (took 3 months). I don't miss it a bit.

Wynn posted the link below but I'm not sure everybody got the message that all the information came from on-line searches of the folks in the video.
