Favorite Ammo for the pm45. I was just wondering what ammo people like for target and self defense. I have some Winchester White box 230 gr. fmj, Remington 230gr. fmj, Federal 230gr.fmj. I also have Hydra-Shock 230gr. fmj.
I went by the Gun Shop and picked up some Winchester Ranger 230gr. T-series, Hornady 185gr. XTP, and Pow'RBall +p 165gr. :33:

Make sure you report on any failures and with what ammo caused it. I have had problems with Win Ranger T-series JHP in my PM45. Several failures to feed. Hve not run any Hornady or PowRBall through it yet.

Will do on ammo reports. Thoughts on what to look for in ammo from a shooters point of view.

Specifically exactly the type of malfunction/failure. Position of round and slide after pulling trigger. Also in the case of slide locking back... whether the round could have touched slide lock lever. Also how you cured malfunction - like on slide lockback whether you hand rack or release slide lock to chamber round and whether it fires when trigger pressed.

I'd like to know about trouble free ammo too.

I have 230gr Federal HST in my PM45 for carry. Due to cost I've only put about 50 rounds of HST through it, but it's shot very well. The gun has about 3100 rounds of mostly 230gr FMJ through it total.

My P45 really likes the WWB self defense rounds, Speer Gold Dots and PMC Starfire ammo. I haven't tried the HydraShocks but want to as soon as I get my hands on some.

Hey All,
Went to the range today and shot my pm45& g36,thought I'd compare the ammo in the two. I loaded up the glock with Pow'RBall and the same in the Kahr. 5 rounds each. This is +P 165 gr. No problems with either one, could feel the snap of this round when fired. Next was the Hornady 185gr. Again no problems with either one, it did seem to be a little more accurate. Probably me though. Next was the Winchester Ranger T-Series 230gr. Both guns had issues with this round. :(Glock stove piped 1 time out of 15 rounds an ftf 2 times. The Kahr liked them even less, Stoved piped 3 times and ftf the same, also the slide didn't lock open when the mag. emptyed. I then ran some Winchester 230 gr. Taget ammo through both no problems with that. I had fired Hydrashok 230gr. through both at an other outing there were no problems with that either. :84:

if this is your first session, more rounds might smooth out the Ranger T ammo even, but that being said, you did a good comparision test. Just avoil Ragner T. there is just to many other good rounds that will do the job in that 45. Find the defense round that works perfect and just stick with it. I would think pwer ball would do excellent to.

Nice report, more rounds the better the guna dn you will get to and the better you two will mate up also...:israel:

Speer GD Short Barrel always performed without a hitch when I owned a PM45.

Crap!!! That sucks about the Ranger T as I can get the cheapest with LEO price. Heck it is nearly the same price for 50 as the "other" stuff is for 20 rounds. I was just about to order a few hundred rounds for my .45's. But since I have read several issues with it now I guess I'll limit my order. I have a couple of 1911's i can use it in but I really wanted it for my carry PM45.
Still have some Hydra-shock and a box of the old EVIL Black talon. ;)

Bonded Remington Golden Saber 230-grain for my .45s. Better penetration in tests than the regular. Penetration was the only problem with the regular. performance is good. I did flash and recoil tests on a range report. Pix: http://kahrtalk.com/ammunition/1718-remington-bonded-golden-saber-230-gr-45-acp.html

This is where I ordered mine... shipping or tax or more mark up at the GS.
Golden Saber Bonded 230 gr 45 acp 50 rds LE box (http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?ref=hotpig27&ct=65202&pd=303261)

He was selling Talon ammo, but after my order the notice changed LE Dept orders only. I saw that stuff selling at the last GS for about what MAH is/was asking. i wanted the non+P and he only had +P .45, so I got the BGS.
I need .380 now. I sold my Critical Defense and MFS FMJ and shot 3 of my 4 boxes of Aguila. That Aguila shot well and I passed up that at the last GS for $22 a box... wouldn't sell it to me for $20($100 for 5 boxes).
