I've said this for the past 10 years, these prescriptions are tied to erratic behavior (Much Like excessive alcohol consumption) and this is where the mental health issue needs to be addressed. Big Pharma represents big $$$$, so it's been hands-off on this subject! Just about every off the deep end shooting are directly tied to this epidemic of mood altering scripts!

I don't know why anyone needs a permit to exercise a God given constitutionally protected right. I carried for years without a permit and never had a problem. They issue a license to the people who prescribe and dispense drugs and that doesn't seem to prevent anyone from going off the deep end.

There is a time coming where if you take stuff like that you will be denied gun ownership. And I agree, those mood altering drugs are an epidemic in this country and far too many doctors are too quick to put people on them.

If you mean a gun permit, I don't agree with them and they are not required in most free states. Don't care for the idea of requiring the government's permission to bear arms - since it's a God given right and not a privilege the government will bestow or not.
A very slippery slope with a medication exception gun ban list that can be extended on a whim.
If there are medications which could impair someone negatively to the point they will likely induce harm on others, perhaps more thought on how to deal with that is in order. But wait, wasn't that what Biden's "check a box" meetings were suppose to unearth?
Just issuing a script and walking out of the doctor's office with it does not seem to be enough for some drugs. Any one who gets wonky, be it drugs or just crazy could certainly use something other than a gun to inflict violence on society. How can you ban every single item a person could use to inflict violence on another from this person? If you don't lock them up in a psych hospital, good luck with removing all items.
So to answer your question, no, the whole idea needs to be addressed in some other avenue rather than via some national gun permit scheme.
