:)Howdy All,:)
I can use everyone’s help again; I am looking for some spare mags for my CW9. The cheapest I have found is $31.10 each, for K820 factory original mags from Cheaper Then Dirt. Does anyone know if anyone has them cheaper? Or even if I can get some ideals where to look, would be helpful.

Thanks

Best price that I have found on K820 magazines, and he is good to do business with.

31 bucks is a good price for a new mag.....how much more are you looking to save?

Not to change the subject too much, but has anyone noticed that Kahr SS mags are magnetized. I've just de-magnetized most of mine with a video tape eraser. I don't want to introduce metal filings and such into the gun. It's handy for picking up paperclips, but I can't think of anything else.... Oh! Yes I can. I'll try putting one on a floating plastic plate in a plastic container of water and see if it aligns to magnetic north -- you never know when that might come in handy!

Agreed 31's a good price, about what I see around our parts anyhow.

Wyn, magnetized magazines, where do you come up with this stuff? Can't wait to get home and see if mine can be used as a compass also. I had one of them tape erasers but used it up erasing the memory banks in my head.:der:

You know what? I once considered trying mine on my head to see what would happen... I don't remember if I did, though. I was worried about possible weird consequences.
Dang! AFTER I put some clothes in the washer, I'll see if I have a Kahr mag that is still magnetized. I don't want to magnetize one -- that would be cheating.
Here comes the postman and if he's not behind with add-on routes, we talk a bit.

Don't be a quinea pig, I'll have my doc send you my reports. It can happen to you.

+1 on the next Jocko message too. Stay Kahr pure.

+1 when they work!:D

Wifey got back from recreational shopping while I was talking to my postal carrier. I still need to get some clothes going in the washing machine.... It's not all play with my guns and entertain my buds.

Well, I might get distracted, but this was a scientific experiment -- conducted solely for the possibility of utility in the advancement of mankind... and satisfying our "inquiring minds".:D
You be the judge, but this floating magazine corrected orientation after I moved it away from alignment to magnetic north.
I think we have a winner here... a bit unhandy for carrying around, but if you have a still puddle or lake and tie the empty Kahr magazine to a small floating branch or put it in a large leaf, it should point to magnetic north with the base to south.
See how my mind puts things together like this... not unlike Archimedes and Galileo or Leonardo da Vinci, among other pretty smart fellows.:D

(Genius at work... er play)
Pix of scientific experiment for the benefit of humanity... and another distraction earlier. A cat was real interested in the bush outside my window. I took photos and movies and eventually scared off the poor snake trying to get ever closer and sticking the camera in his face. He was under 2 1/2 ft long -- a black runner.
Hmmm. I had better get my scientific experiment out of the middle of the kitchen floor while Wifey is napping. (She's all tuckered out after all that recreational shopping, driving around, getting gas, and getting cash out of the ATM... and having lunch somewhere nice.) Can't have too much evidence of my genius laying about underfoot. You just don't know!

Does your snake bite?

wyntrout

Only if you mess with him. I've caught those in the past but never kept one as a pet. They will bite 'cause they just don't appreciate your friendship and what you can do for them... also, I saved his butt from that darn cat.:D
i don't see so many snakes and Eastern Glass Lizards -- legless lizards that can grow up to 56 inches! Really. I'll post a photo of the Audubon Reptile Book listing.
These things are beautiful, but too many people think they are snakes and kill them on site. I ran over at least one with my riding mower once -- wriggling parts all over the place... I felt real bad. I think they's endangered or something like that... like the horny toads we had in Texas in the 70's.<sniff>:(
The glass lizards don't have scales but are like skinks, skin-wise... and related, I think. They can shed more than the last half of their body -- the tail -- as a defense mechanism... kind of like ripping an arm off an using it to delay an alligator chasing you... or something like that, only the tail grows back... unlike your arm.
Hey! I've got a picture of that! See what's in the gator's mouth! Warning! Could upset your weak stomach!

Thanks so much for sharing that, my stomach needed to be purged anyhow. Guess it was one of the unrecognized good things.
Your glass lizard looks like a snake, you did society a favor with your lawn mower. One plus to western washington, not many things that can bite you cept for bees, the government, libs. Guess there are a few things that can bite ya at that.

What else can we do with a Kahr magazine? After the range trip yesterday, I went through the "Bargain Bin" and found one single-stack .45 ACP magazine -- 7-round by Brolin Arms. I thought the magazine's retention slot was too small but "snick'... it was in like it belonged there. I tried pulling the slide back and the slide locks back on empty every time. I bought it for $10.95 and brought it hmoe to experiment with. I loaded it with 7 bullets and cycled them through the gun with the slide... seems to work. The follower is really different with no part that contacts the inside front of the magazine in the top spot and will fall out of the mouth of the magazine without sufficient spring tension. I'm not sure that I can make this work in the 5-shot Kahr mag. I would have to use the Brolin spring and see if the follower will stay in the Kahr magazine.
The magazine seems to work in the PM45, though. Of course it's not as well-built as the Kahr magazines... trials next range trip.

Since this was about Kahr mags and I'm in the market... Is there such a thing as a 10 shot 9mm mag for the PM9. I know it would stick out, etc., but am thinking if I need a second or third mag why not see it I can get one that hold more than 7. These would only be backup mags so no conceal issues.

OK, so I'll answer my own post. I searched and found a 10 round mag for the PM9 by ProMag. However, I did more homework and learned there's a problem with the slide not staying open after the last round and some quality issues. I thought all the latching, etc was on the top end of the mag but it may be more complicated. So I'll stick with dependable over quantity.

A wise choice I think. I wasn't aware that there was such a thing until now.

A factory 10 rounder is something I have thought about as well. It would be nice to have as the spares when carrying concealed. Pro-mags have never worked for me in any gun tried. I got an AK74 recently and immediately tossed the Pro-mag it came with in my parts/junk bin.

I just ordered 2 of the 7-round K725G magazines with grip extensions for the PM45 at
theurbanarmory.com

They were the lowest price with some in stock:
2x $33.99 + $9.99 shipping = $77.97.

I have one of the TP 7-round mags, and a 6-round with extended grip, but this will give me a 7-rounder that will hopefully not dig into my spare tire so much.

I keep the PM45 at my TV chair with the 6-round mag with the 7-rounder nearby, and when I CCW, I put the 5-rounder in and carry the 6-rounder as a spare.

I love my PM45.:D

Like many gun manufacturers, Kahr doesn't make their magazines. Mec-Gar does. That said, why are these frickin' mags so damned expensive? Mec-Gar also makes magazines for Kel-Tec and those are dirt cheap by comparison. Hell, given the choice, I'd rather have much less expensive blued magazines over stainless. Mec-Gar made Kel-Tec P3AT blued 6 round magazines were $15 when I last bought some spares. No reason blued 6 round PM/MK9 mags should cost any more.
