I have a friend who found a good deal on one of these. He was asking me questions about it but I know little about this gun. Does anyone have experience with this one?

I don't have the whimpy nine.....but the "real caliber 40" and it works real well, no complaints what so ever. No failures of any kind and accurite.

I used to have an XD in .357 sig that was an OD frame. Fun little gun, but the ammo was annoying to purchase at the time...don't know if it got better, it was the only .357 sig I've owned.

I've got an XDM 3.8 in .45 ACP. For me it is the absolute largest and heaviest I would go for IWB carry. The 9mm might IWB carry a little better.

I have this in the 3.8 compact .45 acp model as well. It is a joy at the range and groups up quite well. So far no issues for me as far as functionality goes. Some don't like the passive grip safety, but I don't mind it since I shoot the 1911 model.
I agree it is pretty large, especially compared to the Kahr CMs... nearly as large as the Glock compacts in size, but with a much shorter overall height.
The flush 9 round magazine makes it more manageable for carry with its 4.55" height. I see the same model in 9mm with the flush 13 round magazine is a little taller at 4.75" so for me with that grip height it is approaching my top end preference for ccw.
I prefer that my ccw pieces are less than 5" in overall height and closer to 4.5" is about right for me. Do note, that I have found some companies don't include the magazine and/or the sights in their measurements, so do your own measuring.
It certainly is quite doable for carry and I use mine in my carry rotation. IMO, for the most comfortable IWB carry mode for something this size, a dual belt clip type holster is needed to spread the weight and for extra stability, be it a hybrid holster or something in the style of the Milt Sparks Versa Max 2 model.

My brother loves his XDm 9mm. Comes with a flush fitting 10 round mag, and extended 15 round mag. A little wide in the grip for me, but on a larger fellow should conceal ok.
