My new CM9 should be here tomorrow. I have sorta read a little about the breaking in process. Any tips you may have for me would be appreciated! This is my first Kahr pistol I have owned.

What is a good front pocket holster for a lefty?

Thanks,
Mark

Welcome to the forum, Mark4470! :) There is a wealth of valuable information in the New Member Area (http://kahrtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=56) and the Kahr-Tech (http://kahrtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=27) sections of the forum.

And welcome to the CM9 Owners Club! :D Our official symbol is the wide grin smily because we are so happy with our purchase that we can't wipe the smiles off our faces!

Here is your club badge.

I have tried a lot of pocket holsters: leather, kydex and synthetic. The best I have found is the Stays-Put Ultra (http://www.kahrtalk.com/www.concealmentspecialties.com/products.html), just $14.95 shipped.

Welcome to the CM9 club Mark, you're going to love it. I followed the clean & prep instructions, racking my new CM9 to extreme before I ever shot it. Necessary? Maybe not, but my CM9 has not had one hiccup! First range trip I shot 200 FMJ's & 50 JHP's without a single problem. As for pocket holsters, good luck with that selection, as there are many to choose from. I settled on the Galco Pro, my brother has the PJHolster pocket version. Good luck with your choices, look forward to any range report! :D

Welcome to the club! My CM9 is sitting on my hip right now, as it is whenever I am wearing clothes and not carrying my "summer gun" (a Kel-Tec P3AT). Racking the slide as much as possible is a good idea. I cavalierly ignored the prep info and just took the gun out of the box, loaded it with ammo, and hammered through 200 rounds of FMJ and 50 rounds of SD ammo the first time at the range. Not a hiccup. I don't recommend ignoring the prep info; I'm just saying that it turned out that mine worked fine without it.

As to a pocket holster, I don't pocket carry the CM9 often because it is, in my view, a bit big and heavy for the pockets in most of my pants, but when I do, it is usually in a Sticky. If I were pocket carrying often, I'd probably get a Recluse, which is what I use for my regular pocket guns.

Now go to the range and start shooting and smiling. :)

I just picked on up a CM9 last week.

I loaded and unloaded a magazine with snap caps 3-4 times then left it loaded for a few days.

I then broke the gun down and cleaned and oiled it. From the factory mine was clean and properly oiled, but I still cleaned it and went over it w/ my lube of choice.

I then racked the slide about 100-200 times.

Earlier today I ran 200 rounds of FMJ and 6 rounds of Federal HST 147 grain (didn't put more through cause its impossible to find now and I don't have a huge stockpile...). Had no issues except a couple times where I couldn't get the slide to slingshot properly. Since the slingshot is hit or miss I think for this gun I'm just going to use the slide release. Which isn't a big deal cause i'm left handed. I'll just use my right hand to reach over and hit the slide release vs. grabbing the slide to slingshot. With my glock I prefer slingshot even though I put an extended release on because its so small and hard to feel out. But with my Kahr the slide release is huge and hard to miss. Figure I'll just keep experimenting the next 200-500 rounds and see what feels good, is quick, and consistent.

Overall I was worried when I bought the gun due to the issues I see about the gun feeding, but so far it seems solid and reliable.

I recently broke in two of the cm9s. I racked the slides on both prior to the range as suggested. The first one (after cleaning), I ran 200 rnds of decent ammo through it with no hiccups. My brother liked it so much he told me he was buying it from me and I could break another in. So for the second (after the initial cleaning) I ran 300 rnds of the various cheap and dirty ammo I could find with no cleaning in between. Still no hiccups. I'm a fan now.

Mark as the others said do the prep & lube and you will have a smooth break-in period. I did it to both a CW9 and CM9 and no problems with either thru break-in and beyond. Welcome to the club. tom.:D

Thanks Guys! I did the initial cleaning and the racking of the slide this evening. The pistol was quite dirty for a new gun. I have a couple hundred rounds coming. Luckily I have enough self defense rounds. I will try and get to the range this weekend if my ammo ever shows up:confused:

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the Kahrtalk forum supported by Kahr Arms.
Here are a few essential links and things to do BEFORE you take your new pistol to the range, and ESPECIALLY BEFORE taking it apart and trying to re-assemble it! The Kahr is a different design… 6-7 unique patents cover the Kahrs. I’m not trying to imply that you don’t know anything about guns, but many don’t know anything about the Kahrs and some of the things you can do to damage or cause malfunctions of your new, or new-to-you Kahr pistol.
First, if you don’t have a manual, yet, or one didn’t come with your pistol, you can download the pdf file here:
http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf
Impatient? Watch one of these videos FIRST! These videos can point out possible problem areas and emphasize correct procedures!

There are many links on fixing problems listed in several places… under the New Member or Kahr Tech sub-forums.
A very handy one is the Kahr Lube Diagram:

Many of your questions can be answered in these areas and you can learn how your Kahr works and not damage it with improper handling.

There are many helpful members here most of the time who might be able to help you, but as anywhere, there are many opinions and not all are correct. Be mindful of this before doing anything drastic to modify your pistol!

Well my magazine spring was backwards! I hope this is not a sign of things to come!

Took it to my neighbors farm and shot 30 rounds with no problem. I really hate the trigger. It may not stay with me real long. I will finish the break in of it. If I still don't like it I will let it go.

I always take EVERY magazine apart, clean them, check for burrs, etc. and then put them back together after I lightly oiled the spring.

not alibing for kahr but they don't make their magazines and they come to them fully assembled. It is rare to find a spring in backwards but we have seen this before. Anutter reason to "TRUST BUT VERIFY". wHAT WYN DOES IMO is the proper way to go.

Mark4470. Kahrs trigger is looooong by design. It takes some rounds to get adjusted to it. There is no smoother triger out there either. I don't shoot my PMJ9 good at all compared to my
G19 but again two total different trigger systems. Both made by design. The gun will put um in the same hole, just that most shooters cannot. More than likely u would not shoot a double action wheel gun any better then.. advertise the gun on this forum, it will sell if u decide to peddle it.

for shootingit just 30 rounds IMO u are not giving the gun nor yourself a good chance either...

Just sayin in the 30 rounds I am not a fan so far. I'm going to shoot it more when my ammo comes in.
