I found this 1911 buyer's guide while doing some 1911 research. It has quite a few reviews on popular 1911's with plenty of pics. I thought it might be of use to anyone looking for a 5" barrel 1911. It goes from entry level up to pretty pricey guns. The reviews don't go into great detail, but gives an overview of what features you get with each gun.

Bac1023 knows his stuff about guns. Especially 1911's, BHP's and CZ's. Most people would give up a kidney for his collection of guns.

I own A RIA 1911 partically because of his review on the rock. I have to agree with his review. The RIA GI 1911 is a great reliable entry level 1911.

Huh....guess the Springfield TRP I bought maybe 10 years back for about $750 new and only fired a box through is worth more now.

I think I died and went to heaven. Brings tears to my eyes, because I can't own them all.

Great read. He really presents the different pistols well and he has some beautiful guns. That is probably my biggest infatuation with 1911s. Not only are they fun to shoot, they can also look so sweet.

Huh....guess the Springfield TRP I bought maybe 10 years back for about $750 new and only fired a box through is worth more now.Practically worthless now, I'll PM you my FFL's address and you can send it to me so as to clear up space in your safe for something more modern. I'll even pay the shipping costs:D

Now that's a very generous and thoughtful offer Itxi, you might want to think pretty hard on that one. Space is precious.

Glad I bought my SA GI .45 (stainless) for $470 new a few years back - they stopped production on them about a year ago.
