Hi everyone! I've only been a member here for a short time and I have to say that this is the coolest forum that I've been a member of. I'm on forums for bass guitar, mountain biking, scrap metal collecting, ect. and I have to say that as I've been scouring this forum I have seen absolutely NO elitist attitudes or general d-baggery of any kind. It's a rare thing nowadays.

So, I just wanted to say thanks to the mods, admins and participants for making kahrtalk a great place to learn and share. Cheers and happy shooting.

Where do you mountain bike and what do you ride? Me and my friends tear it up here in southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas. I ride a Kona Hei Hei, full suspension 29er. Lots and Lots of fun.

Right now I'm on a Scott Scale 50. It's a nice bike but it's an '07 so it's starting to get kind of old. However, it's fast and the handling is razor sharp. It's basically a hardtail racing frame with mid level parts. It climbs like a beast. Soon I'll upgrading to a 29er.

I ride mainly at Cameron park in Waco, Tx. 20+ miles of single track on 400 acres. It's considered one of the top 2 or 3 mountain biking destinations in TX. Beware: if you don't like to climb(I do) then Cameron park is not for you. Kona makes good stuff.

The last time I was on a bike of any kind I believe was in 1961. I think it was a Western Auto brand.

Welcome aboard.

I had one just like that too, didn't have the saddle bag, I think that was extra.

Awww man, you found my bike! I had it chained to a fire hydrant but some low life stole it some how anyhow. Been a hell of a long time. It still looks in perfect shape.
Go ahead and keep it for your own, I don't peddle much these days.

What the hell did we do with all of our time before we started wasting it here? A curious mind wants to know. I seem to have a vague recollection of something called sex. :)

I still remember when I was a kid going with my grandparents to visit relatives back in the hills, we would see cars from that era (and of course other classic cars that followed) off the road rusting in creeks. Wonder what all of those autos would be worth these days? Funny to think folks would crash into a gully and just leave it there.

I've seen a bunch of very old family pictures (in Missouri) where a bunch of family is standing in front of some of them really old but sweet cars. I always find myself wishing they'd stand off to one side so I can see the car.

Cars all dirty and dusty, they don't think nothing about it. Just transportation.

My favorite episode of the Waltons is the one where they are climbing into the old truck about the same vintage as Jeepsters daily driver there and the old man tells the kids not to get their feet on the seat. Gotta love that.

First and only bike I've ever owned was a Schwinn, cica ~1950. I remember doing all kinds of extra chores to save up to buy a bike. Saved about half the cost and was surprised one day with a Schwinn bike. Family - Mom, Dad, Aunts and Uncles all chipped in the rest of the money having been moved by my industry to work and get the money for a bike.

Bike was green and white paint with a tan colored seat. Looked something like this but I don't recall whitewalls...

we sold schwinn and columbia bikes, backi the day, Then Schwinn left chicago and then schwinn's started to show up with stickers on the down tube (madein taiwan). then today they are in all the discount stores. backi my day u had to kiss schwinn ass ( I was good at that though, as I had a baby doll girlfriend, so I had prior experience in that area)) to be a direct dealer but they made a great bike back then as did columbia. Both gone now..

Once again a serious post takes an OL "Look shiney" turn.

Back in the day, would have given my left (well you know) for a Schwinn.

Was that on that side of the pond or after the voyage. Aw, you said Columbia, I thought you said Columbus.

My bad.

Thanks. Funny enough, my first firearm was a Western Auto branded lever action .22 given to me by my grandfather.

Nope. Someone broke into my grandfather's house and stole it along with his Enfield chambered in .303 British.
