Being from Texas, Lonesome Dove is my favorite TV movie - this scene with Gus McRae and his Henry rifle in particular:

That's hands down my favorite of all time too. I enjoyed the bar scene where the bartender told them they ought to dust themselves off before they come in.

Blasted the shot glases, and busted the barkeeps nose. I loved it. Real close to eating the chocolate covered grasshoppers.

I liked the scenes in the movie HEAT where they showed what happens when you try to hide behind cars and someone is firing .308 NATO rifles at you! They beat the heck out of .223's!!

The above one is one of my favs...from the movie My Name Is Trinity.

Another classic is the basement shoot out in the German Bar in the movie Inglourious Basterds. That left me with "what the heck just happened" feeling.

Quigly down under has a good scene when he demonstrates his long range skill with the rider going out with the bucket as a target.

I remember that one....it's a classic. Those Italians got a little carried away with their sound effects though.

For me, all time favorite scene in any movie, gun or not. Opening bit of Once Upon a Time in the West with Jack Elam. He traps a fly in the barrel of his six shooter and just sits there and listens to it. Crazy eyes and all.

Then one of my favorite lines right after that. Bronson asks, 'You bring a horse for me'. Reply 'No, looks like we are one short'. Bronson, 'No, you brought 2 too many"...then the lead flys.

The "plastic pistol" used by evil guy John Malkovich in the movie "In the Line of Fire", starring Clint Eastwood. Also used in one of the X-Files episodes. They also made an actual blank firing metallic version - which was destroyed to prevent further use after the shooting of the movie.

I play Devils Advocate. I watch weapon use and pick it apart in the scene as to what they did wrong. I have NEVER seen any movie/tv get it 100% right 100% of the time. They always make mistakes. It is hilarious that many of the mistakes do not need to be made.

The "You're a low down Yankee liar" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NE3mHhpGV2A) gunfight in "Shane".
Most (all) of the gun fights in "Appaloosa", but the last one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6chxVZhmwg) is a favorite.
There was one in a "Southland" episode where a guy walks into a police station with a shotgun and starts shooting (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcGho-B_gTY).
"Ronin" has quite a few good gun scenes (and car chases).

Greg

I'm going to throw a little newer scene out. Clint Eastwood in Gran Tourino. The Garand, and the "Get off my lawn" line. Pure gold.

Longitude Zero, I try to control my urge to do that, that's about the only way I can get the wife to watch a movie with me.

Not sure if this qualifies as a "gun" scene, but at the end of High Noon, when Gary Cooper walks out to face the bad men, looks around ,and he is all alone. That is one of the most powerful scenes I can remember in a western.

For me, hands down, the "Bold Talk for a One Eyed Fat Man" scene from the ORIGINAL true grit.

I know exactly where this scene was filmed up in the Colorado mountains. The two peaks in the back ground are Court House and Chimney peak. The field is much smaller than it looks in the movie.

Am I the only one that likes all those scenes in the original "Superman" series where the BG's run out of ammo and throw the gun at Superman? "Yes sir, if my bullets can't hurt him, hitting him with my throwed gun will!"

No, you aren't the only one. What's worse, Superman dodges it when he throws it. I guess any amount of kryptonite OR large piece of metal, makes him a little skittish.

You also can't rule out the opening scene of Silverado when Scott Glenn goes for his rifle. And also the closing showdown between Klein and Dennehy. Epic, on both counts.

Wynn, Johnny Ringo carried a Le Mat revolver inthe series.
Here's one of my favorite scenes, sorry it's a cop!

I'll have the Round Rock SWAT team bomb squad dawg sniffin' whatever package you send my way....

http://www.seniorark.com/Humor/Ugly%20Dogs/ugly%20dog%2026.jpg

But seriously, listen to that slappin'....it sounds like Rosie O'Donnell eatin' pancakes. Not to mention all the bizarre ricochet sounds in those Chef Boyardee westerns.

PS - as you can see, the RR SWAT team bomb squad dawg is a bit discombobulated from all the evidence he's uncovered from the drug busts on I-35 up from Mexico.

Dang! I can't remember the movie, but Charles Coburn walks out of the saloon for a gunfight... the regular type... two guys drawing sixguns, but... he walks over to the horse draws a Winchester out of the scabbard, lays it across the saddle to take aim, and blows the other guy away from 50 yards or so.

Never fight "fair"! In a fight to the death, second place really sucks!
