View Full Version : Looking at these holsters for my CM9 - Opinions?

I just bought my first Kahr (CM9), and was looking at holster options for CCW. I'm considering these three holsters, two for pocket and one for IWB, all by DeSantis. I'm familiar with their Nemesis line of pocket holsters but not the other two. They only list these as for the PM9, but I'm assuming that anything that will fit that gun will fit the CM9 as well.
1. "Pocket-Tuk" (Can be used for both pocket or IWB).
2. "Nemesis" (Pocket)
3 "Cozy Partner" (IWB).
Anyone have any experience with these holsters? Any other recommendations from different manufacturers? I don't have my heart set on any particular make or model which is why I'm asking.

"Pocket-Tuk" is no good for anything.
"Nemesis" is a good pocket pistol.
"Cozy Partner" I have no experience with, but seems like a good IWB.
The best holster I have found for forget it is there comfort 24/7 with my CM9 is the PJ IWB Holster (http://pjholster.com/?page_id=37).

If you need it fast, I would get a Foxx Trapp, I think the wait is a month or more for a PJ and Ray will have a Trapp to you in a couple days.

You really need to consider the Remora holster. When comparing to your choices, I would have to say it's the best. Simply an amazing product for IWB...clipless but it DOES NOT move an inch. And the material is so grippy, it's great for pocket carry...that is if you can get it into the pocket. It sticks that much.

I have a P9 and it's easy to carry a gun the size of a P/CW9 in a Trapp, a PM/CM9 would disappear.

PJ holsters are nice but you will wait probably 6+ weeks to get one. Harwell and Foxx make a nice holster you should check out. i have both and use them all the time.

If you are considering that take a look at this
https://www.harwellholsters.com/products/clip-n-go-holster-appendix-carry
Very nice holster and you can adjust the cant anywhere that you want it. I found that the clip was a little longer than I wanted so I put a longer clip on there but otherwise it's a great sturdy product. I have a number of double clip holsters but I think the design of this one is going to put all the others on the back burner as something the size of the cm9/pm9 can really be supported by one clip over the gun. Just a suggestion, sorry I haven't gotten any actual pics of it up but I highly recommend it. Also, the picture in the link makes it look like the kydex is sloppy but it's not, it fits great.
The PJ holster is great if you know what cant you want your holster to be at.

That look kinda like the Little Foxx, but with 1 screw holding the clip. The 1 screw for the clip would be a deal breaker to me, I find that 1 screw is usually not enough to keep something from moving in undesirable ways. YMMV

I wouldn't disagree with you about two screws versus one. I tried emailing Foxx Holsters a couple of questions and never heard back from them, meanwhile the harwell holster came to my attention and I went with it based on it having good reviews. So far if the screw is tight it's not moving. I really went with it BECAUSE it was one screw because I figured then I would have the most options for raising or lowering the holster as I need by drilling holes in pre existing clips I have left over or borrowed from other holsters. Either way, it seems like a good design for a sidearm the size of the kahr.

That is unlike Ray, every time I have emailed him he responded in 1-3 days. The first Foxx holster I got was a black hybrid, and IMO the back of the leather was to rough, he told me to send it back for a full refund, but I had fond his video for the Trapp and just did an exchange. A little later (months) someone here mentioned taking out the spacers behind the clip to make the Trap thinner. I gave it a try, the screw set was to long. I contacted Ray again asking if he could help me find the screw set I needed to eliminate the spacers and he responded asking for my address so he could send them to me and telling me that the Trapps are now made without the spacers.. I guess what I'm saying is I've found Foxx's (Ray's) costumer service to be top notch.

Short Bus - how do you think the Trapp holster compares to the PJ holsters? I realize the Kydex is the same thickness, however does the clip on the Trapp make it bulkier?

I've never seen a PJ besides pics. From what I've seen I think the Trapp would be close to the tuckable PJ (basically yes, but only the thickness of the kydex the clip is made of, that's a minimal difference IMO) and yes the Trapp is tuckable also. I normally don't carry tucked, but IMO the Trapp is much easier to tuck than hybrid holsters that I've had. From wearing the Trapp I don't see a need to get a PJ because I don't even feel like I carrying a gun with the Trapp. Also I use a 1.75" belt, it's a tight fit, but the clips do work with it.

Welcome to the herd!
I have tried a bunch and always go back to Sticky or Remora and PJ or Foxx Trapp. For me, the Sticky wins slightly over Remora and Foxx Trapp wins easily over the PJ. Foxx is less expensive, adjustable, has kydex in all the right spots, and just fits better. There is no wait for Foxx either.

Yes he does, I had a Theis horse hide for the LC9 I had, but after using the Trapp with my P9 I'll never go back to a hybrid holster for a small gun. Theis would be my choice for a bigger and/or heavier gun, but it's just to bulky for a Kahr.

It's good to hear from someone who has both, I don't think there are many of us that have a Trapp or PJ that feel a need to buy the other. Is your PJ tuckable? Can you explain a little more what makes the Trapp work better for you. Are my assumptions right that the Trapp is slightly thicker than a standard PJ but close to the tuckable?

I do not have the tuckable PJ, but it does have the cant. The two holsters are exactly the same thickness. The Trapp is a bit wider, but mainly because there is more kydex covering the trigger and guard. The kydex on the Trapp covers the trigger guard completely while the PJ is open. I don't know if one is safer, but could imagine an AD from getting a shirt caught on trigger if trying to holster while IWB. For me, the Trapp just sits better and gives me the option to adjust cant. There doesn't seem to be any weight difference. Trapp also gets edge for availability and cost. Both have excellent customer service. I just don't see any advantage to the PJ. I hope this helps.

I had a Theis for my LC9, if you like it you'll fall in love with a Foxx Trapp. I'm not saying Theis is bad, I liked it a lot!!! But after having a Trapp I would never go back for a small light gun.

I was looking at the PJ holsters untill I read this thread. Now im over on Foxxs website looking at the Trapp. I think im going to go with the Trapp since I was wanting a tuckable holster anyway and the price is better. I cant decide if I want the slide guard or not?

I recently ordered a pocket holster for my CM9 from PJ Holster. I had it within two weeks. It's my fourth PJ Holster and I'm extremely hard to please. Paul is one of the best and goes out of his way to please his customers.

I have both the DeSantis Namesis and Super Fly pocket holsters. They work well for my PM9. I don't pocket carry very often but when I do, the DeSantis holsters work fine.

Get the slide guard. It's an IWB holster and you don't want your gun riding against your spare tire. PJ does tuckable, too, but not adjustable cant. The Foxx looks like a good holster. I don't have one. My PJ fits so comfortably that my CM9 disappears from my perception whether I am sitting, standing or moving about. I have to reach back there and touch the gun to confirm it is there! Let me know if you find the Trapp that comfortable.
