I am a new member and this is my first post.

I am new to Kahr products and my first purchase was a CM9 for concealed carry. I wanted to higlight my experience so far and any comments are appreciated.

Prior to first trip I cleaned the gun
1st trip to range: 50 rounds with flawless operation:),
2nd trip to range: 100 rounds with 7 FTL:(,

I realize that most say run through at least 200 rounds for break in, but I guess I was spoiled by the first trip. Also when FTL occurred, I had to drop the magazine (and the release was hard to press in this condition) which pushed to slide forward. I could not get it to chamber by just trying to slingshot the slide (which is already mostly back in this condition). Is this the right way to correct the failure to chamber the next round?

This is my first small handgun and all I have to compare to is my CZ 75 BD that has been almost flawless for several years now as I don't think I have had more than 10 over the life of the gun.

Welcome to the forum from North Dakota. I'm also a relatively new Kahr owner ( my P380 now has over 400 rounds of flawless operation), and followed all the clean, lube, breakin, procedures, and I'm thoroughly delighted with the "little" Kahr.

Is this where the bullet is partially chambered but sitting at an angle? If so, a simple tap of the back of the slide should chamber it. Clean it, rub some grease into the feed ramp and chamber opening, use some strong ammo such as NATO spec 124 grain, use a firm grip and give it another try.

If your failure to feed was a nose dive jamb there is a sticky that covers that failure. Also, you didn't mention what ammunition your using. Kahr pistols don't like flat nosed bullets. Until you are through the break in period you should chamber the first round by using the slide release. When new Kahr pistols are very tight. Run them wet during the break-in. See the sticky on proper lube of Kahr pistols.

Thanks for all the responses. As far as ammo is concerned I was using Federal 115gr (what my range sells). After reading the sticky I agree it is a nose dive jamb and will probably adjust the follower after the breakin period.

I went to the range again hoping to shoot an additional 100 rounds, but the range was completely out of 9mm! Could not believe it, that has never happened before! However, my friend let me use some of his ammo. Here is what happened:

I shot 3 magazines (18 shots) and he shot 3 as well (with my Kahr) I had 3 FTLs and he had none, so it may just be a newbie problem (e.g. limp wrist) as he is more experienced shooter than I am. He had never shot a CM9 (or any other Kahr) and really liked it. Thanks again for the feedback.

Welcome to the forum... sorry you had problems. Here's some info that may help, if you haven't seen it, yet, especially the appropriate take down video.

Welcome to the Kahrtalk forum supported by Kahr Arms.
Here are a few essential links and things to do BEFORE you take your new pistol to the range, and ESPECIALLY BEFORE taking it apart and trying to re-assemble it! The Kahr is a different design… 6-7 unique patents cover the Kahrs. I’m not trying to imply that you don’t know anything about guns, but many don’t know anything about the Kahrs and some of the things you can do to damage or cause malfunctions of your new, or new-to-you Kahr pistol.
First, if you don’t have a manual, yet, or one didn’t come with your pistol, you can download the pdf file here:
http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf
Impatient? Watch one of these videos FIRST! These videos can point out possible problem areas and emphasize correct procedures!

There are many links on fixing problems listed in several places… under the New Member or Kahr Tech sub-forums.
A very handy one is the Kahr Lube Diagram:

Many of your questions can be answered in these areas and you can learn how your Kahr works and not damage it with improper handling.

There are many helpful members here most of the time who might be able to help you, but as anywhere, there are many opinions and not all are correct. Be mindful of this before doing anything drastic to modify your pistol!
