View Full Version : VT Gun Club bans LEOs
The Burington, VT city council voted to advance a measure that is basically their own AWB. The would ban semi-auto rifles and large-capacity magazines.
So, a local gun club has banned the local LEOs from using their range.
Burlington, VT Gun Club (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/01/28/cops-barred-from-gun-range-over-semi-automatic-rifle-ban/%20?test=latestnews)
Unfortunately, the only ones that loose out here are the cops! :(
Coming from a 26 year LE career, I most always back the LEOs but in this case, I say good for the gun club fighting back at the actions of the city council.

As some point common sense has to prevail (I hope).
Unfortunately,
It make take some extreme action on the pro gun front
to address equal and opposite action by the disarm law abiding citizens group.

Well I know a business that I would take a long time to repond to if they called for service.

Not sure how I feel about this. I'm leaning toward a bad idea. 1) Puts gun owners in a bad nit-picky light 2) LEOs had nothing to do w/ it it seems, all politician driven 3) um, I think I want the police as well trained as me, so that they don't injure someone or themselves due to lack of practice.
Ban the politicians? Most certainly...and not just from the shooting ranges, from any and all businesses that are pro 2A. If I had a customer facing business (restaurant, retail, etc) I would make it my business whenever possible to know if a patron was a politician and would bar them from my institution if they were of the liberal persuasion.

I see this as the same kind of response as Barrett gave Komifornia & co., that is to say that if we the people aren't to be trusted with that kind of thing than neither is anyone else. It goes back to Peel's priciples.

Can't they publicly ban city council members from the range instead? I doubt any are members but the publicity would be a kick. Perhaps pro-gun retail & restaurants ban them also with big signs in their windows.

Probably not. The brass probably sleeps with the council members and mayor etc. Any attempt at reprisal would not have a happy ending.
Not always the case but the gold badge and stars or bars usually transforms an otherwise fine officer and public servant into a political puppet controlled by folks that know nothing at all about law enforcement or life in general far as that goes. Usually after 4 or 5 years they too are out of touch and no longer know anything about law enforcement so the cycle continues.

I wonder if the city rents the range for official training days for the police dept.
If so I understand the range not renting time to the city;that said I would allow the officers free time as individuals, not as city officials.

I have no issues with the brass sleeping with city officials unless it is a mano type mano thing.. aguy has to sleep somewhere. Just saying

It just goes to show that we all have to be careful of for whom we vote. The gun you save may be your own.

That mano mano thing usually only happens in california although there are exceptions. There it is so common it's no longer mentioned in the media mostly cause they sleep and are involved with the same group as well.

Yep, like Barrett and Komifornia. Also like several weapon/accessory companies that will not sell to any LEO agencies in NY state.

I am aware of a private company that is the "straw man" and allows a work around for this. Sadly but the almighty dollar trumps all.
