It took a while for it to get to me because the shop I bought it from was at Shot Show for the whole week.
I took it to the range yesterday and it was surprisingly accurate when I did my part. The DD's are still my favs though. :D

I've always been fond of DD's myself. That's a nice looking AK Melissa. I'm more partial to the wood furniture versions but like the looks of that one very much. Right about now anything would be really nice. Glad you got it in time.

Looks great Melissa!
My Arsenal SLR-106U 5.56 pistol will arrive Friday UPS from Vegas.
Got 1000 rounds of Lake City 855 penetrators arriving tomorrow.
Bunches of SSA TSX and TAP T2 in hand.
I've got 10 mags on order with DSArms.
But they don't seem to answer the phone or email?
This may not end well...
No worries though. I've got a few mags already.

Barth, is that a new one or did you have to send yours back for some work?
Happily, my AK47 didn't have a single hiccup with Wolf Poly.

Happily, my AK47 didn't have a single hiccup with Wolf Poly.
It's the same one.
Sent back to the mother-ship for warranty service.
The mil spec Bulgy rant through 300 rounds of FMJs like a champ.
But SSA TSX and other HP rounds FTF about 1 in 10.
I can see shavings on the feed ramp where the tips are hitting.
Arsenal is fixing for free.
My polymer front grip gets pretty hot.
I'm thinking of holding at the mag well and hold the mag with my weak hand.
Do you know if that's alright to do?

Sorry...I don't know. Does your front grip have a heat shield or is it just polymer?

I don't know if it's got a heat shield or not.
I think it does as the hand-guard its self isn't hot.
But if my fingers stray off the guard at all I get burned.
I've got dark wood lower hand guard,
But the wood one definitely has no heat shield.
Guess they heat up real good too.
Likely worse...
I can wear my Under Armour tactical gloves and it's no problemo.
Update: Yup, it's Bulgarian mil spec polymer and appears to have a heat shield.

Looks like it's OK to shoot like that.

I agree with the gloves, Barth. The parts on the AK are a little rougher on the hands than the parts on an AR.

Melissa, that is a fine looking AK. Well done!:)
I like how that Midwest Industries side mount is fitting quite low on there. What's your evaluation of the mount?

Greg

Nice Melissa. I like the mount as it sits lower than mine (a cheap QD UTG). But it has held true to zero.
I'm wondering if that wrap around the front guard holds up to the heat. I know folks who have melted poly grips and polyurethane finishes on wood up there under excessive fire.

Yes, it will work as long as there is not much play with the mag. If there is excessive wobble, it can cause failure to feed.
And yes Bawanna, DD's rock.:D

The 30 round Bulgy Circle 10 waffle mags fit tight as a drum.
Almost too tight.
There is no wobble at all.
I'm going to give it a shot.

Thanks GB!
The MI mount seems to be really solid and well made. It fits tight with no wobble. I haven't taken it off to see if the zero changes after putting it back on. I still need to zero the iron sights so, I'll let you know in a few days. I think I'm going to move the optic forward enough to put a magnifier behind it if I can find the right mount for a magnifier.

I haven't fired the AK with the wrap on the handguards yet. Guess I'll find out the next trip to the range. :D

My polymer heat shielded hand guard doesn't get hot at all.
Even with the barrel smoking - LOL.
But if I'm careless.
And my fingers stray off of it the other parts of the gun.
It's like putting my hand on a hot griddle!
After that,
I started to notice how many folks are wearing gloves shooting their AKs.
Now it makes sense.
On a happy note my 1000 round case of ammo just arrived!

Thanks for the chuckle you old rascal.
I was going to say something, but then again I have been accused of having mind in gutter too.

You guys always swim in the gutter. Melissa by cyber bride said they were her favorite too. Come up for air once in a while and stay on track.
DD's are sweet.

Thank goodness there's at least two of us here on the forum with minds not always in the gutter. Sex and perversion, that's all you think about.
I'm locked in on guns, knives, survival and occasionally DD's.

If I wasn't at work, I 'd make more than a handful of jokes. Tinman I need a visual of Homer Simpson drooling comes to mind. But I will say this, is there anything more to life than DD's?
Melissa, sorry for the shiny, your AK looks good. Have fun with it.
