After shooting about 40 rounds at the range, I could not get the slide stop to release the slide to chamber a round on my CM 9.It simply would not release. I had already previously finished the recommended break in.

After numerous attempts and a very sore thumb, it finally released, and worked fine as I put another 40 rounds through it.

I was using PMC and Federal Champion FMJ ammo.

When I got home I cleaned and lubed the gun and the slide stop worked fine.

Any ideas about what might have happened?

not sure, maybe a cracked followers, a follower for some reason that is notsliding inside the mag tube with no resistance. Wehave seen some loose metal tabs that goes on the left side of the follower that comes nto contact with the slide stop lever. What ur doing is just eliminatge all the possabilities, so if it happens again u can adress sumpin else to check out.
I always grease the slide lock lever pin that goes through the barrel lub..

Might just be the gun messing with your mind to..

Check the slide lock spring and the tightness of the screw and washer combo holding the spring down. Some of us have had the slide lock pin come out of detent and move outwards a bit, causing FTF or slide lock backs. Be careful with that little spring and tightening the screw... metal into plastic threads... Torx#6 bit... you can strip the threads and really have a problem!
