Limits of all ammo!

Not surprised. Everyone has reported the same thing at all the stores. Once all this frenzy ends, I bet they'll go back to letting you spend all the money you want.

The Walton family is from Arkansas and I've never heard them (or Walmart corporation) speak out in favor of gun control. I agree with JustinN that they are probably doing it to keep one or two customers from scooping up all the ammo and will go back to unrestricted sales when the supply comes up to meet demand.

Walmart has millions of customers in their stores every week and these limits are nothing new. The WM store I visit most frequently is right across the street from the WM corporate office and the 4 box limit that was put on in 2009 (last ammo rush) has never been taken down. They do it to keep one or two people from sweeping the shelf clean and then reselling the ammo in their retail location or at gun shows for a big profit. Also, they want to give all their shoppers a chance to spend their money and not just one or two.

The walmart near me has had a limit of 3 boxes per customer for about a week now. Not doing much good because the stuff people want isn't even on their shelf. It was about a month before they got 9mm on the shelf and it was gone in less than 24 hours. I bought 2 of the 5 boxes, though. .223/5.56 has been out even longer, and now they don't have a single box of 22lr on the shelf either. Only 22mag and 17HMR.

I was at a Cabelas about a week ago, and they had a 10 box limit there. They did have quite a bit of 9mm and a decent amount of .223/5.56 considering what has been going on lately. I suspect if there was no limit some people that are well off financially would just come in and clean out a retailer in no time. I honestly can't say that I have considered busting out my credit card that doesn't have a balance and buying up a gratuitous amount of ammo with it....

Like Wal-mart ever has ammo, let alone three boxes at once.

I was just at Bass Pro and they had PILES of 380 ammo, 40 S&W ammo, and a few other calibers. They also had a good amount of PDX 9mm and .223! They too have signs up limiting your purchase to 10 boxes of ammo, a case of shotgun shells, 2000 primers, etc etc.

I look every time I go... I have been surprised and bought MY three boxes... 3x100-rd Value Packs of Federal .45 FMJ @ $32.17 each. 9mm was too high at $13.97 a box of 50!

Must be nice living so close to Bass Pro HQ!! :Amflag2: Wish we had that amount of selection in the rest of the country.

We have Gander Mountain, but they have been outrageous in normal times with prices!

I would hazard a guess that they haven't LOWERED their prices to compete with the high "shortage" prices!

I haven't seen .223 anywhere. Cabela's has a shelf that extends the whole length of the aisle that has .223 across the top shelf and continues onto the second shelf. It's been 100% empty. Sportsman's has had none and Wal-mart doesn't have any ammo.

Here's the solution to the 3 or 4 box limit at WallyWorld

Walk in and buy your 3 boxes. Go pay. Go to car, put this on and go back in and get 3 more boxes. Repeat as necessary

Went back to Walmart today. >10 boxes of 410 PDX1 and >10 boxes of 7mm. That's it. Empty other than that. 3 workers behind the desk bored out of their minds.

Then JACKPOT! Stopped by Academy and they had loads, relatively speaking. Most Ive seen in months. 150+ boxes of 9mm FMJ. 100+ Monarch, 40 Gold Dot Lawman, 10 Remington. About 30 boxes of 40cal. 20 boxes of 45. Same of 308, 223, lesd of 10mm, 357, etc. Only one I didn't see was 5.56, haven't seen that since November, at least.

Hopefully we're seeing a flicker of light and the end of this ammo shortage. Maybe not. Still only allowed one box per caliber, three boxes total. Ugh.

Walmart ... yuk. Always feel the need for a shower after the rare times I go there. Bad selection, bad clerks, bad customers (sorry - I'm assuming I have never seen any of you there).

My local farm store has always been really good on prices and selection - much better than what I have seen at Walmart - but this week, for the first time, their shelves were starting to feature more dust than ammo.

This too, shall pass. I hope.

picked up another 3 box limit of .40 federal today & was talking with the lady, she told me there talking about lowering the limit per day down to 1.
she said that there no longer getting there shipment statements showing ammo listed on the incoming manifests, due to employees giving info out to friends or customers asking to scan the bar code to see if any are on the next truck.
she said the government is behind this action on the limit amount to only 1 box.

So WalMart is a government tool? Maybe they are, in which case there would be even LESS reason to go to one, but it's hard to believe that WalMart clerks would know that, one way or another.

Much more likely due to dorky WalMart internal policies having to do with preventing bare shelves, which always look bad at a retailer.

Then again, I have only been inside a WalMart twice in my life, so I might be full of ****.

I think that they "made a deal" with Obummer and crowd to keep the gub'mint from coming down harder on Walmart for a LOT of other stuff. Liberals hate Walmart and want to bring it down. Walmart got big and rich by bringing people what they wanted... mostly cheap stuff from China!

I shop there a lot, but buy MOST of my ammo online... cheaper and no tax. That has changed and all of the taxing agencies want to start "milking" that cow... and drain it to death. The states will want to tax it to and from the state and the gub'mint wants to tax all transactions. After all, it's THEIR money and THEY think we get to use TOO MUCH of it. They tax it when we make it, when we spend it, and when we die, they want the rest!

In the last 4 days, my wife and I bought 2000 rounds from WM. It was a mix of 9mm, .40, and .45. Supply is catching up with demand.

Same here in Central FL.
I don't think they even lock the ammo case any longer at my local WM. :(

Some WMs here have a lockable ammo case and others have it on the shelf for you to touch.

I was in the Brooksville store at 10:00 last night. The shelves were bare, with the exception of some odd-ball rifle ammo. But, on the floor, still on the pallet, was a case of WWB.

I didn't buy any. I'm traveling and didn't want the hassle on the plane. But it is yet another sign that ammo is finding its way to the stores. It's a matter of being at the right place at the right time.

Our local Walmart gets shipments almost daily of ammo. They will tell you the day before what is coming in and how many boxes of each caliber. They usually put it out by 6:30 the next morning and it is then first come first served with a limit of three boxes of ammo. The prices are are fair, WW White Box of 100 9mm $24.77, WW White Box of 100 45ACP $35.77, Winchester 100 rounds .22's for $6.77, .223 box of 50 $27.77, TulAmmo 45ACP box of 50 $14.77, ect.

The ladies are friendly and encourage you to call in to see what they will have for us the next morning. Each day is a little different in what they will get and how many boxes, but they seem to keep it coming and are making lots of friends along the way here in Northern California.

The local Walmart here was on a 6 box limit before all this crap happened. I got lucky last weekend and was able to get 3 boxes of 9mm including a 100 round WWB value pack. I say lucky because 4 people were right behind me wanting the same thing. lol

During these difficult times I don't have a problem with it. I was at our local WW last week at 7am and was lucky enough to pick up 3-100 round boxes of 9mm. It was gone by 8am.

Dad happened in the other day and it was totally bare here, about 3-5 boxes each of 30-30, 30-06, 270, 243. Not a single box of centerfire handgun of any caliber, obviously no .22. But, bottom shelf, all the way in the dark in the back, they had stashed a dozen or so boxes of Federal 5.56. He grabbed his 3 limit and called me, I dropped by and they had 5 left. Grabbed 3 myself.

It can be done, just have to get lucky and know the truck schedules so you can be there the next morning.

Problem w/ Walmart is they get trucks all week. Keeps you hopping :-)

Walmart has been out of stock in most useful calibers for quite some time now in NE Ohio. So the box limit is pretty irrelevant to us. I don't make any extra effort to check anymore. Maybe I'll get lucky and catch them unloading the truck. Three boxes of 9mm... Wahoo!

cokeman, the store managers bonus is based on sales and he/she isn't gonna cut back on items like ammo if they sellas fast as they come in. they just have no controls. I am sure some employees figure how to get around this ammo stuff but the gal at my wal mart where my wife even works and has for 27 years, tells me the 3 box limit is betonville decision and not sotres and their sales registers are geared/programed tha tif she rings up a sale of 6 boxes of 9, mm it sends a red flag real fast to the store and tha tperson is asked to explain if possable. My wife even cannot buy ammo there unless she actually checks out and buys it and then jcekcs backin to work, and she can't actually do that during work hours. I am sure there are ways around some of this to but I would not ask an employee to break the rules when I know their job could be on the line to and most will not break the rules for really no gain. Gone are the days when I could walk in wal mart and buy a case of 1000 wwb and never a word was ever sadi as there was cases still in stock...
