Well, you won't believe this... I saw an eagle fly over my house this morning, but that's not the news.
My .45 ACP ammo shipment finally got in this afternoon and I went to the range to test ammo, especially the Remington Bonded Golden Sabre 230-grain that I'm switching to for my Pm45 and S&W 645.
The ammo arrived and was scanned just after noon on Friday, then a couple of hours later it was scanned out for Orlando. The next Morning it left Orlando and got back to Jacksonville Saturday, and I finally got it today. Weird. Huh

The News:
I just got back from the range and checked email... it's coming!! My P380N from AGR is on the way with a scheduled arrival the 31st... 11 whole months. Woohoo! It's almost anticlimactic, since I've bought two other Kahrs and don't lack for a carry gun of decent size any more.

Unless I hear differently, I'm getting it for the price 11 months ago:
KP3833N
Quantity: 1
Details: Kahr Arms: P380 2.5 inch barrel, black polymer frame, matte stainless slide with night sights
Stock# Kahr 380 ACP
Each: $ 568.80
Item Total: $ 568.80

Sub Total: $ 568.80
Shipping Total: 1 units (Blue Label - 2nd Day Minimum) $ 25.00
Total: Any additional shipping will be added to this total. $ 593.80 PAID

It was a long wait and ammo is a b!tch to find at a decent price online these days. I was at a gun show this past weekend and sold my 500 rounds of MFS for $180 -- about $10 more than I paid with shipping. Now I need to find replacement ammo for range fodder. I still have my 200 rounds of Aguila 95-gr FMJ. Several kinds of FMJ were selling for $22 a box at the show and they wouldn't take $100 for 5 boxes so I'll wait for a better deal on the Internet.
I did order 500 rounds of Blazer 380 FMJ that's backordered at Sportsman's Guide. I renewed my membership early and got free shipping and used the usual $10 coupon for members buying over $100... and I'll get two anytime, no-strings $10 coupons to use later... a pretty good deal on the ammo with all the discounts:

Shipping would have been at least $15, based on past orders. AND I get the 2 unconditional $10 coupons.

I wasn't worried about the possible June 11 date on the backordered ammo, because I wasn't really expecting the gun, yet... It's only been 11 months!

When I saw that eagle flying towards my house this morning, I wondered if it was an omen. I think so!

I'll try to get to the range report in a little bit.:D

Wow, took long enough huh? I can see that shiney new PM45 with a huge look of dissapointment on its barrel crown. :hurt: I'm not the new kid on the block anymore. But I'm still the biggest and baddest MF in the valley. (any valleys in Florida? ) Always kind of thought of it as a downspout for the whole country, no disrespect for the inhabitants mind ya.

Better send the PM45 up for some thereapy sessions. Send er right back when the healing process is over.

You're getting it just in time for the release of the P380 w/DLC. Oh well, better late than never.

Gotcha!!! I wanted to get an early April Fool's Joke in...lol

Congrats, Wynn! Sounds like you made some pretty good deals. I paid $50 more for my P380 with regular sights than you. .380 shells were $22 at the gunshow, cheapy off brand, which I would not pay. Hope your gun is as good as mine. It shot fine right out of the box after cleanin' & lube. Worked the slide about 200 times by hand. Not a malfunction yet! Accuracy is unreal for a gun that small! I did hone the slide lock just a little, as it was just barely touchin' the bullets with the slide off & a mag in.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, it only took 11 months and I hope the extra time let Kahr get a few things straightened out along the way. I still have the FFL dealer's fee and all, but he is a really good deal at $25 out the door, Instant check call and all. I bought a couple of cheapie Uncle Mike's holsters from him.

I'll definitely go over the gun before I go to the range with it.
I love my PM45, but if that tiny .380 shoots as well as everyone says, I may be carrying it a lot... wish I'd sprung for the horsehide on the Minituck for it, though. I hope the mink oil helps with my sweating. The P380 will weigh almost 10 ounces less that the PM45. I weighed that again today ~ 23.35 ounces loaded with 5+1 230-grain ammo.

The gun store/range I use had some of that Prvi Partizan Ammunition 380 ACP 94 Grain Full Metal Jacket Box of 50 for $34.99... it was one of the $21.99 deals at the show that I thought was too high. The defense ammo was $39.99 a box of 20! I'll have to find some better deals, 'cause that 200 rounds of Aguila FMJ I have is going out the tube the first trip to the range, along with a few boxes of BB 90-gr JHP +P. The Aguila I bought on a trip in Tennessee at about $98 out the door for 4 boxes, including about 10% tax, when I thought I wouldn't find any .380 for break-in.

Guns and shooting sure are expensive. I hope that Blazer .380 I ordered comes in on time. A lot of that ammo keeps getting later and later on the dates. I'll keep looking for another deal in the meanwhile.

I'm going to start on my ammo test and range report under Ammunition.

Thanks, guys. My "gun situation" is improving, but my wife ain't happy with me sitting around all day trying to entertain you guys... and myself, instead of doing a lot of repairs and stuff around the house... a lot of which should have been done years ago. Now that I'm through buying guns for a while... gotta think about next Christmas! I had better get some of the boring stuff done around here... long, long, long list of repairs, renovations, and yard work. <sigh> My plan to win the lottery isn't working out, so it looks like I need to get started on something for the domestic tranquility.:D
Overall, I have done better with the lottery than the stock market. I'm getting close to even with the lottery, but going in the wrong direction since January 2002.
We probably lost 40% or so on the stock market overall, but we were still way ahead of bank savings account. The 30 to 40% gain for two or three years really makes a difference. I opened a money market account to park money for my daughter's wedding at 1% ANNUAL PERCENTAGE RATE -- WHOOPEE! Now it's less than that!

Jeez, I've really been rambling... forgot where I'm at! They ought to give out awards for number of posts and words. You-know-who easily gets the # of posts, but I'll bet I got the words... especially if you deduct for spelling and typos... ouch! Low blow, I know. I'm anal with editing my posts for spelling and syntax, though I intentionally use some bad grammar sometimes. Most guys treat their posts like bullets... once they leave the barrel.... Mike, Jeep45238 would probably beat out Jocko for the most useful stuff with the pictures and videos of "how-to" stuff. It's sure fun here!

Dang, I had better get the wash going and try to get rid of some of the probably 10 days of unread newspapers(COMICS!).:D

You guys and gals take it easy... or any way you can. Later!

The latest P380's seem to slightly tweeked over the earlier...

Dang... sounds tempting but what would I sleep with in my TV chair? I could almost part with that old stepchild... almost. If that .380 were DLC, that would sure be nice and it would really be hard for something that tiny and cute to be a stepchild like the PM9.
I'll have to get a family photo of my little Kahr family. Maybe that can be my avatar. My DLC-Like Finish Kit turned out to be too shiny and a little less durable a finish than the regular DLC, or I could fix the .380 up for the family photo so it would fit right in. I think I could rig a plasma "source"... I have 220 or 240 volts available, but the vacuum for the process is a little troublesome... and I'm not sure if there's a special Tungsten used to make the nice black finish.
It would be my luck that I'd create a small black hole and poof... or whatever sound a black hole makes when it gobbles stuff up... 'course that's usually in a vacuum... hmmmm... could be dangerous and might damage my baby.
My mind sure can wonder... or is that wander... probably both.

I think yoiu will like it, I do think the later models like yours has now got all the little tweeks done to them and they seem to be really smooth working little guns. I think you will also find that this 380 is just one hell of a great shooter to. It will hit where you aim. Is the night sights xs on your 380 or what???

Naah, no noticification. Takes away the surprise factor! As often as you see the Fed Ex, UPS an Mail truck just tell em to leave it on the porch so at least it's waiting for ya when you get home from the range. So I guess your not gonna send the PM45 up to Zena until the little runt gets back huh?

I doubt it, but I thought I'd ask about trying to get the DLC. It's not just the nice black finish, it's the added hardness and corrosion resistance, too. I would like all three PMs to be DLC with Night Sights.
That little 380 only weighed 13.6 ounces with 6+1 90-gr BB JHP +P. That's less than my SS .22 TPH with 6+1 Stingers(14.53 oz.). The PM9 is 19.5 oz. with 6+1 x 124-gr GDHPs. The PM45 is 23.4 oz. with 5+1 x 230-gr Bonded Golden Sabers BJHP, and my K9 is 29.4 oz. with 7+1 x 124-gr GDHPs. I'm using 124-gr Speer GDHPs +P Short Barrel or the Double Tap 124-gr GDHPs +P in the 9mm's.

Yeah, I need to get going. I was talking to my cousin up there in your neck of the woods. He calls about once a week and sometimes we talk for several hours... not always at the most convenient time. he lives a little north of Montesano(SE WA) and has ten acres "in the country".
I've been prepping the gun and I'm a little concerned that the magazines don't always get released when I push the button. It takes an exaggerated or very deliberate push of the button and I have to hold the slide in my palm to get enough leverage or force -- not good for reloads. I'll fiddle with that a bit more and try to get going.
I have to cook tonight and entertain my wife... one more night before she goes back to work. I don't want to ignore her. She's about to go shopping and we decided what to have for supper, so I can start getting ready. I guess I'll just shoot the P380... try to get my 200 rounds, but I don't know, yet. I hope this bay shoots well, but I have to get crackin' here.

Thanks, guys. No it's not a whiner. I hope the mag release gets easier. I used a toothbrush with 400-grit sand paper doubled back over the brush and tried to smooth things out a bit. That and a long shinny triangular file... getting a bit indiscriminate with the file, though, in the tiny dark well.
Anyhow... I'll get ready and see how it shoots. I made a tube grip cover for it like the larger siblings. I made sure the mag catch was free of the cover on both sides.

i don't have time right now to do a report, but here are a few things. I shot 150 rounds of Aguila 95-grain FMJ... no problems whatsoever.
I interspersed Bufalo Bore 90-grain JHP along the way. While it shot well, i had to failures to fire... rec0cking fired the bullet. I had failures to feed with the BB as well. I certainly don't trust this for carry, yet -- the BB. It definitely makes a bigger boom and recoil, but it was manageable... no problem, but you knew it was more powerful, which is the idea!:D
My first magazine or two were not so accurate and I think the pistol shoots a little low. You can definitely adjust for that with your sight picture. I enjoyed shooting the little .380 and got quite good with it. I look forward to getting it more reliable with the BB, or something else that doesn't have feed problems.
As for accuracy, I put the PM45 first and the .380 a close second. I need to learn how to shoot the stepchild PM9, though.
Most of my shooting was at 7 to 8 yards. 15 yards was a little harder. I could hit the poster-sized board with my left hand and a little better with the right, but I need a little more practice at 15 yards. Inside 25 feet I'm pretty confident that I can hit what I need to, and quickly. The .380 is definitely a keeper!
I'll do a range report with pictures and flash comparisons later. It's wifey time now.:D
Later!
