The ads on top are taking forever to load everytime you change a page. It is very cumbersome to use now. What is going on?

Hmm. I'm not seeing it in IE, only in Firefox and only on Kahrtalk. Hopefully, it will go away. Goodnight.

Well, I'm using 18.0.1 and it is still messed up this morning. This doesn't look like a software malfunction. It looks like an intentional thing with Bs and smilies placed in menu bars and headers. IE is the only other explorer I have, and this is not happening with it. In the post edit window, it is elongated and the green and yellow smilies that are appearing all over the place are missing from the Smilies box on the right. The Smilies popup window is all screwed up and I cannot find those 2 smilies in there, either. Here is a screen print.

Well, I cleared all cookies and looked closely at a list of files created since this happened - found nothing. Still messed up. Where is the tech help?

John,
I am using 18.0.1 and have no issues. Try disabling some of your plugins and addons. Anything update recently?
Clear out the cache? Browser history?

Nothing has updated recently that I know of. Firefox does automatic updates. Here's my addons list.

I still have Java Console and Quick Start in my addons. I saw those warnings awhile back. Should I disable/deinstall Java?

I disabled my plugins and ran CCleaner to clear the caches and stuff and, WALLA!, the bug is gone! :D I will start turning plugins back on 1 at a time. Thanks Tinman! :yo:

Go to Tools, Addons, Extensions.
Disable and re-enable one at a time to see which one is the culprit.
This whole java vulnerability is causing lots of issues.
I honestly don't think it's the forum software, I think it's localized on your machine

Tinman, I edited my previous post. Cleared out the bug. Now turning pluggins back on. I am going to leave Java disabled.
It happened last night when I was viewing an old thread of mine about purchasing my TCP. As I was going through the pages looking for a post, this thing suddenly appeared. Could there have been an infected picture file or something in there?

Possible. Run some virus checks and stuff just to be sure.
Firefox 18.0.1 disabled java internally I believe.

It may have been in the Java stuff, which I left disabled. Interestingly, my Firefox is now working better and loading pages faster, too! Yay! :D
Thanks again, Tinman!

I disabled Java but see Quicktime and Shockwave Flash. What are they for?

Those are very necessary pieces that run video and animated content on web pages. I turned those back on and there is no problem with them.

Interesting, very.....
Java Plugin 7 update 11 and lower (click-to-play), Windows has been blocked for your protection.
Why was it blocked? The Java plugin is causing significant security problems. All users are strongly recommended to keep the plugin disabled unless necessary.Who is affected? All users who have these versions of the plugin installed in Firefox 17 and above. What does this mean? The problematic add-on or plugin will be automatically disabled and no longer usable.
When Mozilla becomes aware of add-ons, plugins, or other third-party software that seriously compromises Firefox security, stability, or performance and meets certain criteria (http://wiki.mozilla.org/Blocklisting), the software may be blocked from general use. For more information, please read this support article (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Add-ons%20Blocklist). Blocked on October 30, 2012. View block request (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=829111).

Well, since I deactivated and deinstalled all of the JAVA plugin stuff, my Firefox is superfast. Sometimes, the forum server is a little slow, but now I know most of my slowness issues were in my Firefox. I also cleaned up some other plugin stuff I didn't need. Then I used CCleaner to clean up the registry issues after the deinstall. Did my own DIY PC Cleanup. :typing:
