Did my first breakdown and reassemble of my new CM 9. I have not fired any rounds. I cannot get the slide to go all the way back in order to install the locking pin. Very surprised with the problem after watching videos of doing this several times. Any clues?

You mean you can't get it far enough to line up the marks or the barrel lug?
It doesn't need to go all the way back and shouldn't.
Make sure the recoil assembly is centered up well in it's place. I find sometimes if I just move mine a little bit the slide will go on.
If you're having trouble.... things to check.
First make sure the recoil spring/guide are correctly positioned. It should NOT be centered on the feed ramp, because the ramp is offset. Center it in the slide. Mis-centering will cause it to hang up on the frame, disallowing the slide from going into position.
Next, what I do is "start" the pin by looking thru the hole, then when the barrel underlug lines up, I press the pin thru the hole... just enough to get into the barrel underlug. At that point, its an easy pull back of the slide, to align the dis-assembly notch, and press the pin all the way home.

That's precisely what I do as well. Catch the lug hole soon as it lines up, then go for closure.

I wiggle/pull the trigger a bit as needed to get the slide aligned and centered on the frame before inserting the slide lock pin, holding the pin slightly tilted to the front to get past the left side of the SL spring, with the lever at about 4 o'clock, then I make sure to get the pin in as far as it will go until I align the index marks or just eyeball the SL actuator through the slide cutout, rotate the lever to 3 o'clock and push the pin home with my thumb over the forward part of the lever over the pin. The slide should be centered on the frame before putting the pin in so that it goes THROUGH the hole in the lug under the barrel... NOT in front of the lug... which is BAD.

The other guys are right. At first it doesn't go all the way back to where the marks line up. First before you start, ensure that the little spring beside the slide stop hole in the frame is all the way up, so that it doesn't catch on the slide stop.
Second, put the slide on the frame and watch the hole where you insert the slide stop. As you slide the slide back, the barrel lug will clear the slide stop hole and you'll be able to see it do so. At that point, insert the slide stop in a little but not all the way. What you want to do is carefully work the slide stop up and down as you insert it so that you can tell when it's inserted enough to catch on the frame.
Once you have the slide stop in far enough that it barely catches on the frame, push the slide back further in order to line up the marks on the it and get the half moon slot lined up with the slide stop; once it's in alignment with the slide stop resting down on the frame you can push the slide stop the rest of the way through. This ensures that you get the little spring beside the slide stop hole ABOVE the slide stop as it should be. You can confirm this by lifting and releasing the slide stop while you have the slide back slightly; it should spring back down.
Now you should be back together correctly with a functional slide.

Thanks to all of you who have replied. Prior to logging back on, I did find that it was all about the alignment of the recoil spring/guide. I sort of happened onto the solution. If at first you don't succeed.....
Also, went to the range and did the break-in. Fired 200 rounds without a single issue. I think I'm going to enjoy the pistol.

I had similar problems, but when I made sure that the recoil spring and guide rod were properly aligned...... it worked.

The best holster I have found for forget-it-is-there comfort 24/7 with my CM9 is the PJ IWB Holster (http://pjholster.com/?page_id=37). There are so, so many members here that will concur. Paul is a great guy and a real gun lover, and he performs magic with kydex - making the holster incredibly comfortable to where you can't tell it is there whether sitting, standing or moving about. It is like the mass of the gun disappears, becoming one with your body. I carry mine with a 15° cant just behind my hip - the sweet spot. I prefer the linked one with the over the belt clip. It is available with j-hook, c-hook and velcro attachment method, and tuckable is an option. I have a tuckable one with velcro for if I need total concealment, but normally wear the above under a loose shirt.

I always figure that first dis-assembly and cleaning of a new gun is going to take a bit of extra time. At times, it goes smoothly even the first time, but that is just a bonus. Have fun with the CM9!
