I am still finding my slide lock difficult to release on my CM9, even with no mag in the gun and also with a full mag at the range. I am not sure whether it is just me, or whether there is a problem.
I know this is a subjective thing, but I now have 280 rounds through the gun. Is this normal and will it loosen up with more use?
Yes they are stiff. Yes it will loosen. RELEASING it a bunch will make it looser. That is, shooting 280 rounds, thats 40 releases from full mags.... you'll need a few more than that.

My first outing, it chewed up my thumb. Next time out it was much easier. 375 rounds so far and not a single problem!

It is designed to be more difficult WITHOUT a magazine, to indicate to you there is NO magazine and it is NOT going to fire, once closed.
Also, with an EMPTY mag inserted, the pressure of the MAG spring is also pushing up on the release lever via the steel button insert in the mag follower.

It's designed to be difficult with an empty mag. Removing the mag or inserting one with at least 1 round makes it easier.

You may want to try pulling on the slide a bit instead of hitting the slide release

It will need a bit of a workout. They are such tight tolerances and stiff springs that they need some time. It will be fine. my pm45 and p380 have same issues. Better with age I say . :)

With an empty magazine inserted, the follower pushes on the slide lock up to hold the slide locked back. If the slide release is still hard to actuate, just rack without riding the slide... without reducing the forward momentum... a clean release as the slide is all the way back should work every time.

Thanks guys. I will try racking the slide next time I get to the range if the slide lock continues to be a problem.

ive locked and released mine repeatedly the last couple days since ive got it. probly done it at least 75-100 times and i feel no difference in tension. if anything it get harder as my thumb tires out and gets torn up haha(i actually took a file to the corner that your thumb catches. they sure machined the edges on the gun frigin sharp. not complaining but theres a couple corners they could've rounded off a bit.) but i feel like a few more ranges sessions should loosen up the recoil spring enough to make it easier. ive considered leaving the slide locked to try and break in the recoil spring but as its my second line of defense after my shotty i dont feel comfortable leaving it open all the time (even though all i would have to do is release the slide lock mech but still thats a few seconds that could make all the difference).

gotta remember to we are all different in how we think a guns hould operate to. What could be har dto u could be normal to me. Recoil is often discussed here and we get all kinds of replys back from owners of the same make and caliber as to it is Ok, or it is a bundle to handle,
I wold thinkLProf slide lock lever is probalby normal, he just has not gotten used to it yet, which he will and I do think after 2 to 500 rounds down ragne, the gun will indeed smooth out more and that includes the slide lock lever...Just sayin

That was my experience at the range. The more I shot, the harder it was to get the slide lock to release.
Hopefully, it will get easier as I put more rounds through it.
