Whats going on guys - Im a brand new member here - Im actually going to the gun store TONIGHT to pick up a brand new Kahr CW45 that I verified they have in stock today. They are quoting me a price of 399.99 including tax - Im hoping I can try to work them down to 380 or so...
Anyway, I am an absolute beginner and this is going to be my very first gun purchase and will be my ONLY gun that I play to carry daily as a concealed carry.
Does anyone have any tips on these CW45s? Anything I should know before or shortly after the purchase? Everyone keeps talking about a "New Gun Guide" and a list of things to do with a new Kahr before you take it to the range for the first time but I cant find the thread anywhere..
Anyway, any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Welcome aboard. Any new forum can be a maze trying to find your way around, I still stumble frequently.
Here's a good start.

Others will be along shortly, there are video's, all kinds of stuff to help you. Lots of guys and gals here to provide any support you might need.
Being brand new absolutely don't be afraid to ask questions no matter how dumb. That's my specialty, I address the stupid simple questions, the other take on the more indepth technical stuff.
Enjoy your new gun, it's a good one. Get familiar with it and you'll bond up nicely.

Follow all the prep advice and keep a firm grip on the pistol when shooting and you're be fine. I've had two CW45's along with five other Kahrs, and with proper prep, I've never had a problem.

I was going to get the Rubberized Talon Grips for it since I heard about the cheese grater grips on these things, also debating on the trijicon night sights that they sell also!
I figure 200 rounds of some 230g FMJ WWB for breaking it in and call it a day

Welcome to the forum, Joe.
Welcome to the Kahrtalk forum supported by Kahr Arms.
Here are a few essential links and things to do BEFORE you take your new pistol to the range, and ESPECIALLY BEFORE taking it apart and trying to re-assemble it! The Kahr is a different design… 6-7 unique patents cover the Kahrs. I’m not trying to imply that you don’t know anything about guns, but many don’t know anything about the Kahrs and some of the things you can do to damage or cause malfunctions of your new, or new-to-you Kahr pistol.
First, if you don’t have a manual, yet, or one didn’t come with your pistol, you can download the pdf file here:
http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf
Impatient? Watch one of these videos FIRST! These videos can point out possible problem areas and emphasize correct procedures!
Take down and re-assembly videos:

There are many links on fixing problems listed in several places… under the New Member or Kahr Tech sub-forums.
A very handy one is the Kahr Lube Diagram:

Many of your questions can be answered in these areas and you can learn how your Kahr works and not damage it with improper handling.
Frequently asked questions: http://www.kahr.com/faq.asp?
There are many helpful members here most of the time who might be able to help you, but as anywhere, there are many opinions and not all are correct. Be mindful of this before doing anything drastic to modify your pistol!

I heard about the cheese grater grips on these things,
I love cheese. I love my CW45 too. It's been my carry piece since the weather has been cooler (took the place of my CM9.)

I'm a new guy here, been lurking and reading. I picked up a new CW45 a few weeks ago for $369. It's the second semi auto I've owned, can tell you that following the advice on this board has worked so far. After 130 rounds there hasn't been one problem, the pistol flat out runs. I shoot a couple different revolvers but I have to say this gun is quickly becoming one of my favorites, enjoy the new CW45.

I to am a first time gun owner. Like you I also have been looking around this site. I picked
up my cw45 for 399.00, then went to the outdoor range to shoot in Wisconsin in 10F. After 125 rounds not one problem. Thank you all for the forum and advice.

Hey Joe, cougarvan and JR, welcome to the neighborhood.
Congrats to you all on your new CW45"s. You're soon to love it, I'm sure.
Just installed a Wolff 5# striker spring in mine and took it out to the range recently.
Have had mine a few months and had 2 minor FTF issues during the first 200 round break in, but those may have very well been shooter related.
Took it out last week with the new spring in it and put 106 more rounds through it.
The first mag was full of Win. PDX 1 HP to test for possible carry ammo. No feed issues.
Then put 100 rounds of Aguila 230 gr. FMJ down range. Again, no issues.
This gun keeps getting better and more broken in and I love it. It will be splitting time with my CM9 for winter carry.
This thing is a beast and so bloody accurate out to 25 yds. It's starting to make me question my loyalty to my CM9 :)
The 5# striker spring is awesome and I would recommend it to any of you. They're inexpensive too.
