PLEASE count ur outside recoil spring coils and let me and the readers know if it is 13 coils or 15.
Kahr has recently told a poster that all cm and pm kahrs today now have the 13 coil recoil outter spring in them.
Is that so.
I am getting old and I don't have alot of fokking time for u guys to d!ck around:amflag:

I detect Jocko wants to tell Kahr they don't know what they are talking about. Could it be???

no not really, I am doubtful but again if they made this change to 13 coils for all it is abig score for the kahr owners for now we can tell um to go to the wolffs site to get their springs alot cheaper and a choice of poundage if they choose otherwise.
I hate to think I am right when indeed I am wrong. This is just sumpin new to me to hear this, but we also know that some who have the new stle slides have indeed used the wolffs 13 coils outter springs and reported perfect operation..
I learn sumpin new most all the time on this forum. just sayin

I hope that is the case. I'm actually coming due now at about 1300 rounds.

jocko, your question got my curiosity up. My purchase was about 6 months ago, but my recoil spring has only 13 coils. I have not changed a thing on my CM9. Hope that helps get you started! :D

great, then kahr has dropped the 15 coil recoil spring as was stated
thanks, yes it is a start but I tend to think now they have made this in house change and I would have thought it wouldhave been nice had they made somekind of reference to this in their parts order list as they still show the 15 coil spring assembly, which Iguess wil work but is a real b!tch to instal as many have found out..
again thanks..

You got me curious about my cm9 that I bought when they first came out. Like I said mine has over 1000 rounds through it but when I count the coils from the front end counting back to the flange I have 13 coils to the flange (legnth is 13) and then 1 coil at the flange that makes 1 complete flat loop.
I never counted the coils in the beginning but would that make mine 13?

yup sure would look that way, evidently they made a change awhile back then t.
thanks
wolffs is the place to get um then, they will list it under the pm9 model and give u achoice of 18# factory or 20.5#
two down, a few more should confirm it or at least give a `15 coil owner now the option of buying the 13 coil from wolffs andnot feeling like he has harmed the gun any.
Kahr use dto just sellus the outter recoil sprng but in the past few years they I think got alittle greedy and now want to sell the entire set up which is really not needed at all.

Yep, exactly how mine is. I didn't count the "Doubled" coil at the flange as 2, but only as 1. Now when you turn the coil exactly upside down, you have 2 coils at the flange, and the spring end at the muzzle end. Either way, I count 13 full coils. Make sense? :D

yes and if it was a 15 coil version theree wold be no confustion in the count either, there is a visible differnce. U couldn't count wrong with the springu got now to get to 15 coils, just no way, nor can u count the 15 coil version and come up with 13 either...

Yep, 13 it is. Just looked at wolff's and they're only 8.99

I received a new recoil assembly a few weeks ago for my pm9 and the spring has 15 coils. Same amount as my existing spring but about a half inch longer. After cleaning my gun from going to the range today I put it in and was not too difficult to do. Fyi my old spring has over 2600 rounds and still works fine so I wouldn't be too anal about the 1500 rounds thing.

I replaced my outer recoil spring with a 13 coil spring from Wolff. Not only that, but I've installed the spring with the closed end toward the muzzle to prevent the spring from protruding through the hole in the slide for the guide rod. My gun runs flawlessly with that setup. Zero failures to feed. Zero failures to return to battery.

Well, you're the exception. I wouldn't tell anyone to install it BACKWARDS like that, but YOU made that choice... knowing what's correct, so that's fine... IF it works for you!
I have extra Wolff springs for every one of my guns that they have springs for. I just got a 10-pack of magazine springs for my XD45, and I don't anticipate NEEDING them, but I have them.
I'm just starting out with a Glock 23C now... came with 2 13-round mags and I have ten more in the mail to arrive Monday... probably. I got the extended mag release and slide release because the standard ones SUCK. I tried them repeatedly while waiting on my "worthiness" to be established, so I could walk away with my new concealable "battle pistol".:)
I'm sure there are a few more things that I need, and I'll be trying to run down a set of Trijicon Orange HD NS to complete my setup. My wife can rack this one and I think that I'll keep looking for a Gen 4 G19 for her. The adjustable backstrap would be nice for her... using the smallest piece. She thinks the G23 grip is too large!
I'm thinking that I'll need to divest myself of a few pistols in the future... S.A. Champion and extra P380... maybe!

Jocko,
That depends... If someone counts the way you type, they can get all kinds of numbers!:D
What about k-9 springs? recommendations?
It would appear to me that Eion was correct in what he wrote in his e-mail to me.
Not recent though, take note of the date that he sent it.
FWIW and I know for some here, it won't be worth much however, in a e-mail exchange between Eoin Pryal and myself dated 10.24.2011, Eoin stated the following when I asked about recoil assemblies and the outer spring coil count:
Our recoil asemblies now go out with the same external spring. The determining factor is the length of the recoil guide rod. If the guide rod fits and the firearm functions there is no isue. If there are failures with the firearm we will be able to go from there.
I had just received a new recoil assembly and the outer spring had 13.5 coils. I was under the impression that the new model PM9 recoil asembly had 14-15 coil count on the outer spring.
Eoin advised me the above and that the assembly that I received was correct for my newer model PM9.
As I said earlier:
I have two new recoil assemblies for my PM9 that came in the mail from Kahr only days apart due to a USPS glitch.
One from 4.24.12 and the other from 4.27.12. One has 13.5 coils and the other 13 even.
As far as I'm concerned, Eoin is correct in his statement. ;)
But then Jocko believes that I post the info that I do just to disagree with his position on a subject. ;)

I have more than 6,000 rnds. through my PM9 with about 4,600 rnds. using the Wolff 13 coil, 20.5# spring instead of the 15 coil. It's assembled with the closed end forward with zero malfunctions, except for the broken trigger bar.

list 3 different poundages, The 22# seemsto be themost tried when one wants togo beyojd factory setting. I have the 22#inmy K9 Ported, works fine for me. :Amflag2:

eion is correct, that is why I even ask for this post survey, as kahr still shows the 15 coil assembly in their parts list.they outta now delete that part. I am sure I was not the only one here that thought the 15 coil was still the factory recommended for the new cm and pm models.Kahr IMO did the right thing in simplyfing this recoil outter spring, for at least now it gives the owners a different avenue as to where to buy just the outter spirng, that as of now u can't buy from kahr, and also gives the owners two poundage choices also, which is nice if that is what one wants. No problem from my stand point on this topic Mr. Jim C. Just sayin

works for u muggsy, We have seen where doing it that way can let that open end ride up onver that flat portion of the recoil rod and then that is what normaly causes failure to get the slide off the gun.
I personally wold not recommend that to anyone but if it works for you that is all that matters. As u know it is not rocket science to install that recoil spring with the open end towards the front like it should be and preventing it from coming out the recoiil rod hole. Just sayin
It would be nice if kahr had that open end closed like the one end is, I suspect it is a cost saving measure that done right is of no issues either. The ones I buy from wolffs also have the open end also, and not sure but probalby all kahr recoil srings for the utter models have the open end also.

Mine has 13 coils, of course it is a several year old PM9 blunt nose. Nice that everything is standardized again on springs. Now, they just need a dovetail on the sights that works with either one they have produced.
jocko

I don't see kahr dovetailing the cm and cw series. one of their cost cutting features. IMO that blunt nose version PM9 is the best of the best to. I own two of them .
