Picked up a new P380 Tuesday night. Ran through the Kahr Tech prep suggestions for a new firearm.

Shot 105 rounds Remington UMC 95 grain and 25 rounds Hornady Critical Defense.

Overall pretty happy with it - the grouping by the end at 21 feet was nice with just the simple sights; the CT laser is still in transit.

With the Remington I got consistent FTF on the final round in the 6 round mag - repeatable about 4 out of 5 mag reloads so occured maybe a dozen times or more during the night.

The Hornady never had a problem with all 6 rounds working and the slide lock back was consistent.

Tried stretching the mag spring part way through to see if that helped, but no difference. It does appear to be installed correctly.

I'll be taking it to the range this weekend for another 100+ rounds with more variety of ammo.

This ended up being the CA version of the P380 with the chambered indicator. I love the indicator (similar to my XDM .40 compact) and it will be handy for the wife, but not crazy about the mag trigger disconnect. Wondering how much Kahr would charge me to convert that part back if it is even possible since I'm in Wisconsin and have zero plans to ever move to CA. I'll give them a call.

I've got two more 6 rd mags arriving tomorrow so will get a chance to see if that makes any difference. The other negative of the CA model is it only comes with 1 mag. But it was the last one in stock for several states around with GM and I didn't want to wait 6+ months for the CW380 to become available.

I thought the springs in the mags were already Wolff and high quality? Are there replacements that people recommend? I assume it is the lack of feed pressure with the final round with this ammo.

Thoroughly clean it, lube it, and shoot another 100 rounds or so. Perhaps a different brand of ammo. Sounds like it just needs broke in fully.
Good luck!!

I would change brands of ammo if rem is giving issues. Just to many other good rounds out there to get concerned over that. The mag disconnect, my question is what is the problem, I have never read of anyone ever loosing their life due to this part being there or it going bad etc. Would I think be a great thing for your wife also as now she can just pull the mag out and leave the live round in the chamber and be totally safe. I would think also that your wfe would have one heh of a time hand racking that little P380 also so again the mag disconnect seems right for her.

Myself I would not touch it in that small gun, leave it alone.

But that being said, I would think a local smitty could take that part out. If would be iffy if kahr would do that. Be interesting to know though..Just my thoughts. good luck
