That's the caliber of the barrel.

So you don't simply think all 9mm is the same and try to put 9x18 Mak in your gun and do damage to yourself/your gun. I hate to say this, but google is your friend man

There are a lot of other 9mm, too, a bunch that won't fit:

Huh, I thought this place was just as friendly as Google, guess I was wrong.

I don't know that GOOGLE is our friend... anti-gun, but Wikipedia can be helpful.
Most barrels are plainly marked in that area so you know what caliber to use. All 9mm are not the same, as you can see from the "9mm" Wiki link.
BTW, welcome to the forum. We ARE a friendly bunch and try to help each other out. Here's my collection of <hopefully> helpful links and info:
Welcome to the Kahrtalk forum supported by Kahr Arms.
Here are a few essential links and things to do BEFORE you take your new pistol to the range, and ESPECIALLY BEFORE taking it apart and trying to re-assemble it! The Kahr is a different design… 6-7 unique patents cover the Kahrs. I’m not trying to imply that you don’t know anything about guns, but many don’t know anything about the Kahrs and some of the things you can do to damage or cause malfunctions of your new, or new-to-you Kahr pistol.
First, if you don’t have a manual, yet, or one didn’t come with your pistol, you can download the pdf file here:
http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf
Impatient? Watch one of these videos FIRST! These videos can point out possible problem areas and emphasize correct procedures!
Take down and re-assembly videos:
T, TP, CW, P, & PM/CM Series:

MK series:

K series:

There are many links on fixing problems listed in several places… under the New Member or Kahr Tech sub-forums.
A very handy one is the Kahr Lube Diagram:
http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=14750
Many of your questions can be answered in these areas and you can learn how your Kahr works and not damage it with improper handling.
Frequently asked questions: http://www.kahr.com/faq.asp?
There are many helpful members here most of the time who might be able to help you, but as anywhere, there are many opinions and not all are correct. Be mindful of this before doing anything drastic to modify your pistol!

The 9x19mm, 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum are all the same and commonly referred to as a 9mm

Maybe I should've added a smiley when I said what I said, my sarcasm key is broken on my keyboard. I said i hated to say it because of googles anti-gun stance. But, in any event, welcome.

I come up with 171. What the hell that has to do with a barrel I don't know.
By brother in law had a 171 CW and guy at range gave him some 162's, Makarov's I reckon. Didn't hurt nobody and didn't fire but was all jammed down in the barrel.
Had to vise it and pound it out with a stick.

No worries KKING, I have gotten hammered as of late at my work for my "tone" in my emails and my lack of emotion when talking on the radio. Guess I was just over analyzing out of my new habbit.

Like you said, no worries. I'm pretty new around here myself, but it's proving to be a great place for info
