CM40 Range Report

First, I thoroughly read the owner's manual and the new member and tech sections before ever heading to the range. Stripped, cleaned and lubed per this forum. Hand-racked somewhere between 2-300 times (I lost count :D ). Also did some minor sanding on all three mag followers as all of them were slightly hanging up when passing the mag release cutout (also recommended by this forum).

First range day was yesterday. Cold and windy, but I've had this gun for a few weeks and just couldn't wait any longer. First shot (and several subsequent) was almost dead center at 7 yards, so the gun is as accurate as I can be with it. Shot 50 Winchester 165gr FMJ... not a single FTF or FTE. Slide didn't lock back after every mag, but it was random throughout all 3 mags.

Went back again today and put another 50 Winchester 165gr FMJ and 50 Winchester 180gr JHP. Still not a single FTF or FTE. Again, slide randomly did not lock back on a. Empty mag. However, hand-racking with an empty mag (all three) inserted locks back with no problems, so I'll just chalk that up to a very stiff recoil spring still breaking itself in.

Overall, I am very pleased with this gun! As for recoil, not nearly as much as I was expecting...and I'd even say that the recoil/snappiness is the same, maybe even slightly less, than my gen4 Glock 23.

Very happy new Kahr owner here, and this will absolutely be my EDC if our state legislators ever get around to passing a concealed carry law.

nice report. try tighteningup ur grip more to seeif by chance that helps any. I would betin anutter 100+roundsit will lock back OK. Even40 cal fj amo is hotter than hehand they use the same poundage recoil spring as the cm9 does to.

I am curious, when u have the slide off, countthecoils i the outter spring. should be 13 coils not 15.

ur good to go, If it doesnt take care of itself try the 20.5 coil. Thats all I have in my 2 PM9's

I've thought about having this done... how much of a difference does it really make? And about how long does it take? I didn't see anything on their site about turn-around time.

Put another 50 180gr JHP onto some paper yesterday. I did go ahead and replace the stock spring w/ the 20.5# Wolff a week or so ago. Took about 3 mags for that spring to break in... now the slide locks back when it should.

And I'm getting more accurate as well... just a few rounds outside of a 5" circle at 7 yards. And the trijicon night sights should be in next week, which I think will help as well, as I'm much more used to shooting with 3 dot sights.

Will add another update once the new sights are installed.

Congrats! That sounds like my new Glocks... over 750 rounds between them without a mishap... except for my not inserting a full magazine all the way with the slide forward for a +1 test. Had to fish my mag out of the the firing lane with a broom... okay, though... didn't even lose a bullet! Just got to make sure I get the click... and use more force!
