As in for carrying firearms and the use of self defense. I know like some states have stand your ground laws and some have castle doctrine. Then there are states with duty to retreat and some without. I am just curious.

Wyoming is by far the least restrictive.

Illinois has a castle law with no requirement to retreat and protection against lawsuits from the BG's family if you shoot and/or kill the bastard.

However, we cannot (legally) carry in public.

Google search is an amazing tool.

http://handgunlaw.us/ is better than Google to answer your question.

I think Vermont has very few restrictions, not sure about stand your ground or castle doctrine, but you don't need a permit to carry there. But it's an island of sanity surround by states with very strict gun laws. I think you'll find the least restrictions in the southern and western states, until you get to a state that borders the Pacific ocean.

In Az. you do not need a permit to carry concealed or open. Anyone who is a citizen & no felony conviction can carry. Any business that asked you to leave you must or you can be charged with trespass. We have the Castle Doctrine also. A good shoot cannot be sued civilly. Bars may post a State No Gun sign by their license.

I know Gov. Tom Corbett from Pa. is very pro gun and NRA member. He helped get the Castle doctrine and stand your ground laws passed in Pa.

Florida was one of the first states to go shall issue with permits.
Our permits are for weapons and not just firearms.
We can basically carry any weapon or firearm we can legally own and conceal.
The firearms carried need not be registered or tied to the licence.
And we have reciprocation agreements with something like 35 other states.
Plus the license only requires a live fire test when you initially apply.
We also have stand your ground laws as well as castle doctrine.
And If I want a suppressor? With the right paperwork I can have one.

There may well be better states for concealed carry.
But Florida is one of the best.

I like this site (http://www.usacarry.com/concealed_carry_permit_information.html)to compare conceal carry practices in different states.

This is a good discussion with good potential information. I'm gonna move it to RKBA. Need to have at least one good thread there.

California has no provision in it's state constitution that provides any right to self-defense. Just sayin....

How does your state (http://www.bradycampaign.org/stategunlaws/)stack up?

My state scored a 6. Not very restrictive. Others are better. Many are more restrictive.

"Find out if your state has strong gun laws to prevent gun violence" They really believe it.

Awesome! My state gets a zero in every category!

dang.... I just found out that even here in Texas we are cautioned against firing warning shots into the air to scare away the boogeyman....seems there's something about wreckless endangerment in the laws..... maybe our all knowing VP can fix that for us poor restricted peasants:rolleyes:

The latest idiotic thong to come out of his mouth.

My first response was:
We can shoot our shotguns in the backyard! Uncle Joe says so!

The person he said that to should have followed that up with:
No. We're responsible gun owners and we don't do that. That would be unsafe and very dangerous to kids. You obviously don't know anything about guns or self protection.
