Does anyone think they should have more metal in the rails than the 2 inserts in the back or is it not an issue? I notice the sig p 290 has a lot more metal.

The two inserts are actually one piece that is embedded in the polymer frame from one side to the other. Actually pretty significant but hidden within the polymer.

...or is it not an issue?
Not an issue. There are many polymer designs similar to Kahrs that have been extensively tested and proven to be robust and long lived.

The Kahr pistols have steel rails both front and rear. The polymer rails are only used as guides for reassembly. The slide does not run on the polymer rails. Try reading your owners manual.

Never seen one back rail ever come aparet. It is a one peace rail similar to the front rails. Good for sig, maybe they haven't found a either way yet. Kahr has and it sure works great.
MY PMJ9 has over 32k THROUGH IT AND U CAN'T SEE ONE IOTTA OF WEAR ON THE RAILS, ANYWHERE, almost like the slide is not even touching them. I think the famous glocks has only two sets of rails.. The rear rails on kahrs do most all the work and they are very beefy and strong...

Hello rhd04 and welcome to Kahrtalk....Now you listen to old Jocko there cause he knows of what he speaks and after a while here you too will be able to read and understand every word he says (by the way Jocko, nice job, that post was almost perfect) you see poor Jocko lost all his fingers in a terrible accident involving a Harley and a chocolate milkshake and he's only left with stubs for hands and can't type too good....Don't pay too much attention to that there feller Muggsy either, he's a mean one until he's had his afternoon pill, you see he's old and kind of cranky especially when he ain't had enough fiber and gets the walkin poots...
Don't worry none about wearing out your Kahr pistol and to my knowledge nobody has worn one out yet so like Jocko will tell ya, shoot it like you stole it!!!!....Again welcome to our little party and stay a while and enjoy the fun...

:)Look at a Glock and you'll find less metal-to-metal than on a Kahr. I think Glocks are noted for being reliable.:D

The Kahr manuals are a little hard to understand sometimes because they try to make one manual for all the pistols and there are some differences like in the take down of the polymer guns....DO READ IT and pay attention to the part about witness marks and slide stop installation and it's location in regards to the slide stop spring so you don't bend it.....
The steel frame insert question comes up pretty frequently but it's not an issue with these guns...Pay attention to the lube chart sticky and be sure to hit all the spots shown but don't put any lube on the striker channel because it will gunk up....Some folks here like to use a little grease on the frame slide contact points and it will help keep the slide rails lubed up and free running longer...
I was just kidding you in my response and if you have any questions about anything at all please feel free to ask...This is the nicest forum anywhere and we kid and cut up with each other but we are serious about guns, shooting and safety...There are lots and lots of knowledgeable and friendly folks here that are more than willing to help...
Check out Jocko's custom PM9 pictures and yes it's true he has that many rounds down range and his PM9 is still one of the nicest pistols you will see....Kahr pistols are fine well made firearms and will stand up to the test of time and provide many years of performance and shooting pleasure (no I'm not a Kahr representative but I did play one once on a Holiday Inn Express commercial)....Glad you found us and stay tuned for more!!!

I might have heard that wrong to, as Bawannqa is the one that posted this to me and I did kcheck with my inside contact at kahr and one fella dis say he knew a guy by the name of sh!tsome (probably ur brother) who use dto work there as the janitor. again I might be off on that name a tad to. At first blush lots of people think that "Plastic" guns are just that...plastic with a couple of pieces of steel imbedded in them. I used to run into this when I sold high end industrial power tools.
Remember your dad's old Milwaukee drill with the metal housing that would shock the hell out of you? In the 80's the power tool companies got smart and started molding plastic around a smaller metal housing. The visible part of the power tool didn't take as much finishing as the metal ones and the finishing processes were a lot cheaper. The tools were as rigid and stiff as the full metal counterparts but they were much less expensive to build. Problem was that people thought they were a cheap substitute for a "Real man's power tool."
The same thing holds true with "Plastic" pistols. There is a metal frame (or maybe 2) in there that is inserted in an injection mold (hence the notch in the rail for location in the mold) and the plastic is pumped in to completely imbed the metal frame. These are as strong as a full metal frame and don't require anywhere near the machining or finishing of a metal frame.
I think it would be cool if Kahr would post a photo of a frame before it's got its plastic coat.

to remembert back while just researcing soe ofkahr's patents that their patent diagram showed exactly what ur referring to. It was quite interesting to see how it was designed. Alot of engineering went into that design etc and one can certainly see the hidden strenght in that patent diagream .I think har has 7 different patens in theor poly guns to.

Far from trying to get away, I heard that Monica initiated the nastiness. Her friends back home quoted her as saying "I'm going to have to buy some new knee pads." when she learned she had been selected as an intern.

not buying the initiated part. He had a woving eye, no doubt to blow the presidnet had to be a big coo for any intern, probalby males to. She will make some day millions form that little knee bend action. She might also have know perfectly well what she was doin to. But he was our presidnet with his geeky wife sleeping somewherein the whitehouse. He probalbyfelt safe that she was not sleeping with anyone. Have to be a totally blind man to do that. Buyt tricky billy boy knew what he wanted.
He was a scum bag deluxe, she was a young gal and probalby was priveldged to even think of working as an intern. I never knew she was an intern even but that makes some sense. I suspect when she licked her lips one day at lunch and horny Bill see that, he knew it was lover at first sight. I suspect the lat time Hillary was on her knees was when she dropped a quartrer on the floor.
I hope she publish her book about 3 months before Hillary announces her run for president, so the public can see what a stupid butt ugly woman she was. Its all about power to those people. Just sayin
now all that above being said, if he was running against obummer today, I wold vote for horny bill in a heart beat. At least u could talk to the man and he had our cuntry first well over what obummer is doing to us now.

A young lady did that and posted it. Misfire or something then fired another round! When in doubt, remove the magazine clear the chamber and then check the barrel for an obstruction! Otherwise... Kaboom!
I've had a few case ruptures from factory re-manufactured 9mm ammo with one particular brand of case... "AMER C". I lost two extractors and the side plate flew off on my P9, but found one out of three extractors... now carry spares for all caliber Kahrs!

kahr callsit that but actrualy thatplate had tobe thereforkahr to slipin the parts for the lower grip area. Thatis the real reason. no doubt if u have a kaboom that back plateis gonnago flyin, but probabyso will the rest of the gun. Never a need to takethae pate off IO. if the gun is working OK u can spray clean it frght from the top of the frame.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
