to me that looks like it happened after manufacturing. since its out of the box I suggest returning it.

Looks like someone tried (or maybe did) swap the front sight out, and didn't use the proper tool....

The dealer wanted to send it back but I feel it's fine. Gives it character. They did knock off $20.

It won't hurt the function of the gun one iota, and if you don't mind it, so be it. I still don't think that came from the factory, but sometime after it left...whether at the distributor, or your dealer, or where....who knows

Yeah, the dealer was kinda shocked when he noticed it. He said, " and that's outta the box!" The only other one he had was the 2 tone or the black diamond with meprolites

Stuff CAN happen at the factory!

Before the NS version was released, I ordered, paid up front, and waited 11 months to receive my P380 with night sights. It arrived with scratched sights and the front was D.O.A. I'm pretty sure that I could have done better with whatever tools I have on hand. I'm sure the FS was damaged by improper handling during installation by an amateur... or someone learning how to install sights!

Kahr sent for the pistol and it went back the next day, unfired. They only replaced the front sight.

This pistol would go back one more time for slide locks prior to empty magazine, but it's a great pistol now and at my side most of the day... usually IWB, but close at hand!

My second P380's rear sight fell out one day and I just "glued" it in place with Permatex RED Threadbolocker.

Do you like the trijicon over xs sights?

I'm curious, are there any similar marks on the other side?

Seems like you could sand those out a bit. Might have to do both sides of the slide to keep it all even, give it a brushed finish look or bead blast it to make it look new.

I agree it's not that big of a deal one way or the other.

Can't imagine it rubbing on something enough during transit to make that kind of mark.

I prefer Trijicons for several reasons... most NS are illuminated with Trijicon Tritium vials. Trijicon will re-lamp your TRIJICON (only) sights for a nominal fee. I had my 1998 K9's factory Trijicons re-lamped back in 2010 for $58 which included return shipping. I sent them the slide by USP Priority, so total cost was only about $60 or less.

Then there are their other products... the new HD... Heavy duty or Hard Duty... intended for the "demands of LEOS or the military". I would love to put those on my P40, and I did get them on my XD45... fantastic... did a thread with many pix on this forum... yellow-outline front sight. I want the Orange FS this time and ordered those for my Glock 23C from Optics Planet, paying the $20 premium for quicker delivery(1-3 days vs. 1-3 MONTHS!). I've ordered the sight installer($60) and front sight/disassembly($20) tool from Glockstore. I hope all of that stuff get here soon and I'll try my own installation.

XD45 and HD NS:

but if it left the factory that way, then it is terrible, A shame he did not notice it when he bought it, course I am not sure if he had it to see before he bought it either, but it looks like hell. Wouldn't bother me but still it ain'[t right either.. I am kinda thinkin like Justin, that front sight for some reason does not look like Kahr. U guys who own one can tell me different..

Jocko needs to read all the posts before commenting. Or does he have trouble with comprehension too?

Who said somebody missed it?

figured u missed it. I u acceptedit that way and got 20- bucks off, then I would say u were agreeable to the condition. I would not have accepted that had I seenit just for the principal of it. If the gun works fine then yup ur home free.it is a service gun, not a show gun and maybe down the road u might want to get the slide refinishedin a black or some utter finish, and thernur $20 ahead of the game..

sorry I meeded that one part.:Amflag2:

When I pay a premium price for a premium firearm I expect to receive it in premium condition. There is no excuse for this not to have been caught by the factory. Was the gun marked as a blemished firearm or used firearm? If so, it should be stamped with a "B" or a "U".

rhd04 saw it, noted it, accepted it for the 20 dollar savings. It's his choice to make. It's an easy enough fix if he chooses to fix it too.

Just out of curiosity I'd look for a U or a B just for fun. I'm thinking the shop, well no matter what I think, it don't really matter.

I might as well wait to have it refinished since I'll probably scratch the slide up more when I put the steel punch to the sights as soon as my big dots get here! Lol

Good logic in that too.
