I just got a Kahr CW40, got it home and broke it down how the instuctions show. i cleaned it and put it back together. Only problem was the slide wouldnt go back more than a half inch. so i took it back appart and took the barrol and spring out to see if the slide would go back without any of that. Now it is stuck, it will move but it wont come off!! what did i do wrong and how do i fix it?
please help

Welcome to the forum. It comes apart easily but it's particular on how it goes back together. One of my pet projects is to try to get everyone to watch the official Kahr take down video.
Here's my introduction to new members:
Welcome to the Kahrtalk forum supported by Kahr Arms.
Here are a few essential links and things to do BEFORE you take your new pistol to the range, and ESPECIALLY BEFORE taking it apart and trying to re-assemble it! The Kahr is a different design… 6-7 unique patents cover the Kahrs. I’m not trying to imply that you don’t know anything about guns, but many don’t know anything about the Kahrs and some of the things you can do to damage or cause malfunctions of your new, or new-to-you Kahr pistol.
First, if you don’t have a manual, yet, or one didn’t come with your pistol, you can download the pdf file here:
http://www.kahr.com/PDF/kahrmanual.pdf
Impatient? Watch one of these videos FIRST! These videos can point out possible problem areas and emphasize correct procedures!

There are many links on fixing problems listed in several places… under the New Member or Kahr Tech sub-forums.
A very handy one is the Kahr Lube Diagram:

Many of your questions can be answered in these areas and you can learn how your Kahr works and not damage it with improper handling.
Frequently asked questions: http://www.kahr.com/faq.asp?
There are many helpful members here most of the time who might be able to help you, but as anywhere, there are many opinions and not all are correct. Be mindful of this before doing anything drastic to modify your pistol!

For the slide removal, have you tried wiggling the trigger or trying to move the cam in the rear down for the slide to clear it, as you move the slide?

Thank you all for answering back. my problem was i put the slide release pin on top of the spring. i wont be doing that again. i still cannot get the slide off of the frame.
like a dummy i was trying to see if i could trouble shoot my problem and ended up making a new one. still cant get it off.

That's one of the things I "champion"... besides reading the manual, watching the video where there is great emphasis on inserting the slide lock pin. Either or both sides can be dinged or bent, besides the insertion of the pin forward of the barrel lug hole, or getting the actuator on top of the spring!

gun totally back together, now rack the slide a few times and while racking jit then pull the trigger to see if it clicks , now remove the slide lock pin lining up the witness marks. One the lever is out ull the slide forward and at the same time pulling the trigger, give it a yank need be, but it will kthen come off. It won't just slide off by itself, it reaches a stop point thatu just have to force it past that. Ur harming nuttin in the process. Just sayin
