Hey folks. Names rob.

Just got my first handgun. Ive shot a few before. Many shotguns and small rifles... always had an interest in handguns and in the last year i have been paying much closer attn to the current market. Been shopping for 2 months. Spent an afternoon last month withba nice s.a. emp .40 and a ruger lcr. Even spent 30 rds throo a glock 23. Mhmm tasty...

Fast forward ....

Monday a local gun store had a well used k40 for 399$. Held it loved it bought it. ( after spending the last month trolling your board and u tube learning about it simce i spotted it there last month... ) grabbed 100 rds of am eagle bluntnose too.

Last night a nice innocent teardown/inspection/cleaning session turned into " hmm i should sand and polish the ramp..... then that immediately led to hmmm barrel and hood would look cool eh? " . And then zakk handed me the emp... "do this one too. " anyway had around 6 hrs total at the bench makin nice of barrels and inner slides.

Heres what i came out with :) . Still havent fired it... had to change it up a lil so its "my" gun..

Now.... range time today.. 126 rounds..

It ran 4 diff kinds of ammo.. 100 am eagle 180gr. 26 variety of win bonded hollows, hornady TAP and critical defense..

Not 1 single failure. It ate everything like butter. Ride it in. Sling shot it. Slide release, didnt matter it was 100% functional . Period.. after reading all the stickies etc. Mines runs true and strong. For an old timer. ( DF 0051 ). Early run 98 is what im getting from the history thred.

Ran 357mag in the LCR for the first time ( 40 rounds) .... what a hammer. Ran another 20 or so through the new XDM .40 3.8" ... what a sweethart.

So far im liking the trigger. Its way better than the lcr revolver.. but has nothing on the springfield emp.. its trigger is amazing.

Thought id say hi and share...

Hello, Rob, and welcome from Missouri to a great forum. Good people and info here!

Since you are new to this handgun, self defense arena, consider taking some good self defense handgun classes. I also recommend you check out the many free YouTube videos made by Massad Ayoob, a world-class instructor in handgun use and self defense, who has recorded training sessions in Judicious Use of Force, Shoot to Live, Home Invasion, Preparation for Home Defense, and What to Do After a Shooting. Just Google his name and these topics and the YouTubes should show up. Very good instructional information from an expert, and free.

Here is a very good technical review of self defense ammo, when you want to consider this:
http://ammo.ar15.com/project/Self_Defense_Ammo_FAQ/index.htm

This is an informative review by a doctor of different gunshot wounds effects; we all need to be aware of this real-life information:

Take care, and best wishes to you and yours!

Welcome to the forum from North Dakota. This forum and my first Kahr ( a little P380 pocket rocket), converted me from several semi-auto brands to all Kahr. PM9 is next.

Thanks for the welcome.everybody....

Geobob.. ur very correct and is my plan. Once i get good and comfy woth this pistol at the range its classtime. If im comfy smooth and confident with my weapon my instructor will be more comfy confident as well.. both bonuses. Id rather use the time and instruction advancing my knowledge and technique rather than learning my gun on his time...

Make any sense? It does in my head lol. And that aint sayin alot :D

Far as missouri... ive much family there.. matter of fact. . I belong to the hayes family. As in Hannibal :) .

Again
Thanks for the in.

The wife and i went to island lake range yesterday for quick stop... Popped her cherry on a nice cold sunny day . For never shooting before she did well. She took my instruction and put rounds on paper. Target was maybe 25' away. Im proud of her... first time shootin and a compact 40 cal didnt scare her off. We burned a quick box of 50 . She needs to work on grip. After only 3 6rd mags it got a little sore for her. But.. thats what happens on your first time

A couple pics.... shes this dirty after 50 Federal brand am eagle 180gr. Range rounds.
