I have Tetra gun grease. Do you think that's good stuff for the rails or is there better stuff? What do you think about using anti- seize?

What? I think anti- seize would be good. It works from -65 to 1600 F degrees

Here's the best thing I saw on lubes and greases.

I use Slide Glide I bought about 5 years ago. If I ever run out, I'll probably start using the Mobile 1 or Lucas Red-n-Tacky.

rdh04,... to begin, you have started a post that is going to get a wide range of opinions. I will comment from two different applications: range/HD gun vs. CC gun.
If you are intending for your gun to be for range and/or home defense use, then use whatever works for you and, most importantly, your gun. I have used Tetra Lube in the past and it is an excellent grease that holds better than oils or other lower viscosity greases. If you gun runs perfect with it, use it... it is great stuff in my opinion. Just keep in mind that you will need some other lube (oil or synthetic) to protect your gun from rust and to lube smaller wear points.
If you want a lube for a concealed carry gun, then I highly recommend Frog Lube. Aside from it working just fine as a lube/protectant, it is a "drier lube" than other conventional oils/greases/synthetics. When holstering a gun on your person, your body emits heat and I have found that conventional petro-base lubes breakdown and run onto your clothing/holster. This is the main reason why I have gone to FL... less mess. And I also might add that I have gone to FL for all of my guns (HD, Range, and CC) because it just plain works. And honestly, I had a few fickle guns (mostly .22s) that would occasionally FTF/FTE when I used oil/greases,... but when I switch over the FL, they have been running flawlessly ever since.
So in final... just use whatever works for you and your gun(s). Guns are like tools,... take care of them and they will serve you for a lifetime.

Man if you don't use xxxx you're nuts! :) I've been using TW25 from the beginning just because Jocko said to. It seems to work well and I like it. Hickok45 uses Balistol and says it's good. I don't think it's terribly critical to use a specific brand but read up on whatever you consider. Well, I didn't do that but if you can't trust Jocko who can you trust.

dsefinitely a sheep guy, that goat shop was in my earlier days, when I was just gettin started. alot more goats around my area. Italians liked goats for they could be milked and eaten. Sheep as u well know, wellI won't get into that.
Ihad my calling early i live getsome, I took a test when I was a senior that kinda depicted what u would be doin inur later life and the tests showed, I was born to be a sheepherder, so I went out west in my earlier years and worked as a sheepherder in the muntains. lived for 2 years in one of those covered wagons, very lonely. ended up marrying 6 sheep (it was alllowed back in those days). Had a dog named horny. He later ran off with 4 sheep. Lil bastard...U can't trust a dog around 6000 sheep. They think they own um all, Lil bastard.

The Frog Lube sounds interesting but I think you have to bake it in the oven if I'm not mistaken....There was a question asked if Anti Sieze can be used and that is a big ole no because 1. it's not a lube and 2. it would make a huge mess with everything it touches...
Just for the info to the forum and I'm not sure if they are still offering it but several months ago "Weapon Shield" was offering a free sample if you went to their web site...I did and many others here did too and they sent me a nice little sample bottle with an needle dropper and I still have some and it's good stuff but not so good that I would pay big bucks to order their product...Try their web site and see if they are still sending out a free sample, it's worth it to get the little refillable needle dropper they send....
I will refill the little tube with Mobil 1 motor oil in 0 w 20 weight and it works just as good as any of the other high price stuff out there.....One quart bottle=lifetime supply....
You can spend a bunch of money on stuff like Gunscrubber but go to NAPA and get the same stuff in a bigger can for less than 5 bucks....
In reality here is all you need to keep any handgun clean, lubed and happy...
1. A can of NAPA Non Chlorinated Spray Brake Cleaner
2. A jar of Hoppe's #9 bore cleaner
3. A small dropper of 0w20 or 5w20 Synthetic Motor Oil whatever brand you like to use in your car...
4. If you like to use grease they pick up a syringe of Shooters Choice red gun grease at any Walmart for less than 5 bucks and when its used up refill it with synthetic automobile chassis grease and again 1 tube is a lifetime supply...
Gun cleaning isn't rocket science and you can spend a bunch of bucks on high priced fancy marketed super duper ultra lube and it wont do any better job or make your pistol work any better than the items mentioned above...
Now this is just my opinion and if you like to experiment with the latest greatest scientific gizmo stuff then feel free but all I'm saying is that it just isn't necessary....

I never priced that frog stuff but if its real expensive they can keep it. I agree that the auto stuff will work the same.

Just like any other product out there it's all marketing and lots and lots of people believe it and buy into it....It's Madison Avenue Advertising and like P.T. Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute"

Anti Seize is great stuff for what it's designed for like putting on spark plug threads before installing in an aluminum cylinder head so you can get them back out 100,000 miles later without breaking them but I wouldn't use it on a gun...
Have you ever gotten that stuff on your hands???...It's like black graphite and very difficult to wash off, wouldn't look too good on a pair of khaki pants...

Using white lithium auto grease ( purple tube O'rileys) and mobile 1 synthetic. Just did detail strip and polish, and wiped those parts with tuf-cloth. The tw oil is fine but the grease seems runny. Pick up some 'monoject' plastic syringes at a pharmacy or home medical and load the oils and grease in those.

The only lube a real man needs is a little maiden oil.

I've had some really good experiences with unicorn s#@t. However, it has been hard to find lately as it seems like it is being horded by maidens (something about the rainbow color for eye shadow). So if you can't find it in the local gun shop, auto parts store, Walmart, etc., try some unobtainium. Works just a good and half the cost.

Just lube the gun. Seriously, just lube the gun. Unless you are in a battlefield and your weapon is going to see thousands of rounds before you can do anything to it, it's going to be fine with just about any decent lube on the market. The important thing is the practice of lubing it.
I personally use Wilson combat's oil (I forget which specific one) because a lot of tests have shown it to be superior to others. Would it matter if I used a cheaper brand that didn't do as well in those tests? No, it's just what I like. I also use Remoil on my guns that I use for hunting, simply because hunting season takes place in low temperatures and Remoil is a thin lube. No tests to support that logic, just makes sense to me.
AGAIN, I stress, just clean and lube your gun, don't worry as much about the semantics

I'll tell you what, I put some weapon sheild on my pm9 and it did make a difference! The action feels and sounds much smoother! I would have not believed it if I didn't experience it first hand! And it smells good too!
