Is anyone else having issues with s&b?

It is the only brand where I have had light strikes.Does s&b just have harder primers?

Have about 400 rounds though it, 250 on old frame, 150 on new frame, issue occurred with old and new frame.

I don't remember having "many" but have experienced a few in thousands of S&B rounds fired... a really small amount... always fired on next strike. My last .380 buy was for 2K at under $12 delivered... my best deal on .380. I use it a lot when I get the price I want. It's usually my best deal for range ammo in most handgun calibers.

Yep. I just posted this yesterday on another thread where others are having the same issue.

They used to have a red sealer around the primers on the .380 ammo. Lately the red seal isn't there. I don't know what the difference is. When I got my first box of non-red, I carried a mag full in my Kahr for a while because my gun likes S&B. I went to the range and on the first shot, I pulled the trigger and click. I put that round back in the mag and it did it again. It finally fired on the 4th try. I'm glad I was shooting that 1st round at the range and not at an attacker.

That's my main RANGE ammo. I wouldn't carry it for protection, though. I want a bonded HP bullet with more OOMPH, as in my avatar! I also have Speer GD's, Win Ranger T, BB +P GD's, and now Underwood +P GD's. I also got a bunch of the BB +P 95-gr FN FMJ for colder climes and more penetration.

doesn't really matter. if all others work ok then sh!t can S & B and move on to what works right.

MyP380 does not like 102 grain golden sabres. No big deal, I just moved on to anutter round that the gun liked.:Amflag2:

I just checked my last batch. I still have 1 case unopened... 605/12 on the outside... matching the inside stamp on the individual boxes. The primers are heavily sealed with red primer. I got these from SGA in May last year... $479.50 delivered for two cases, including $25 shipping and $4.50 for insurance... $11.99 a box delivered!

Ya, I've moved on, have a half box left. Just wondering if others are having the same problem.

So what's the purpose of the red stuff, trout?

It's a waterproofing sealant, I think.:) They use several colors, but red on .380 ammo.

Weird thing with S&B in my P380. I've over 700 rounds through my P380, with so few issues since the "breakin" they're not worth mentioning. But this morning was the first time I've ever run S&B hardball through the gun. In 100 rounds I had 2 fail to fire due to what looked like light strikes. They fired after rechambering them. It has to be very hard primers. No big deal; I'll just stay away from them. Just thought I'd share my experience.:)

I think they changed something with their primers last year. Was there a red liquid sealer around the primer?

My p380 does not like the s&b with the red seal .I had a couple FTF
with that ammo. Works good with the mag tech.

Mine did. I wish they still made them that way. I got Mag Tech last but haven't shot it yet. I hope it works well.

:eek:I've still got 4 boxes of the stuff so I just looked and didn't see the red "laquer" that others have mentioned. I think the things just have real hard primers. I've never shot S&B through my 9MM, but I'm curious to see if others have experienced the problem with other S&B calibers.:)

Yeah, my P380 misses the the old S&B reds.

U know my little P380 hated golden sabrea 102 grain hp, so once I got um all shot up. I never went loking fgor them again. to many good rounds ouyt there. I now run Corbon powerball. they feed smooter than an egg coming out of a chicken.

I've run just about every brand and bullet profile (NO LEAD) through the little BUGger, and except for a few fail-to-feed issues with Winchester white box flat nose, this is the only ammo issue I've had. Like jocko said, if she doesn't like S&B so be it . Just won't buy any more.:)

Yup....had problems with S&B :(, but it ran fine with all others I've put through it. :)
