I know it isn’t a firearm but it was made by a firearm company And it is a Mauser. It’s a Mauser Vernier, any of you guys know of this tool. Two years ago when my brother in law past away my sister in law said take any of the tools you want, that’s how I got it. Just thought it was something cool to share with all of you, I did see there is alittle crud on it from the pictures that will clean up. I was just looking to see who knows anything about Mauser Tools. This is a 6" vernier
I've seen them before it done shows. I think they were made by Etlon for Mauser.

Very nice. I like old tools like that.
I'm trying to figure out the outside and inside/depth measures from the picture. It looks like the center will get you to a .025 accuracy but do the inside and outside measures improve on that? Cant figure it out with out playing with it.

You use the inside measurer and the center scale when you are using the top )( section to measure inside measurements. You use the flat rod that sticks out of the small end and the inside scale to measure the depth. Both of those use the top scale and the inside scale. When you want to measure the outside measurements you also use the bottom scale with the inside scale. You don't use both the top and the bottom scales at the same time. That was made before the round dial model.
That is a slide rule caliper.

Beautiful precision tool.
I've got a Winchester hatchet and pair of pliers. Both are kinda beat up though.

I don't need no stinkin precision tool...I just use my grandpaw's old monkey wrench and beat them parts into submission. As for carpentering though, no matter how many times I cut a board with his old crosscut saw, it's still too danged short. Then, it's get out the monkey wrench and close the gap time.

It probably has more sentimental value than actual value. You can check E-bay for prices. Yours has the patented Mauser locking wheel and was manufactured by Mauser.

Following WW1 the Treaty of Versailles placed highly punitive restrictions on Germany, especially the arms industry. It prevented Mauser from manufacturing firearms and forced them to come up with other products in order to remain in business and keep their workforce employed. They made tools, flashlights, camping gear, and even an automobile. Like the early non-firearm products by Winchester, these have become quite collectable.
