My test of the week was the new Liberty Halo Point in 9mm and 40 S&W. I called on my PMs for test duty.

Wasn't really sure what to expect from this ammo line other than hyper velocity and light bullets. This picture of the 40 S&W test shot seems to be the image that people comment on the most.

WOW, I was very un-impressed with the 9mm results. Why anyone would want a 50 grain HP traveling at almost 2,000 fps with that kind of destruction of said bullet is beyond me? I appreciate you testing these, maybe people will stay away & use a tried & true SD JHP. JMHO! :D

Read somewhere the idea behind it is to create a large wound cavity to cause system shock quicker, thereby stopping the aggressor quickly. Can't say as the theory would/will hold true, but who knows.

I saw these at my LGS and thought the same thing.. too light, too fast. I was a little more impressed after seeing the gel tests, but still not sold. I'd like to see some tests with denim, glass, and drywall. One of the selling points the clerk made to me was "they make your gun lighter".
So is slow and heavy better than light and fast? I like the test results I'm seeing from bigger bullets. Why I choose the 180gr PDX1 at this time. but I also have some 165gr Hornady Critical Defense in another mag (I like choice). And I picked up a box of new improved Winchester Silvertips at 155gr. Where am I going?? I know Jocko's opinion on this and I agree, that's why I've already decided (for now). I just find this ammo tech stuff sort of interesting. We all know hitting the target is all that really matters anyway.

I'd like to see some real world test results, but I'm open to just about anything. I can see where being shot by one of those bullets would tend to be discouraging, but then being shot by any bullet would tend to be discouraging. Good work as always, Ljutic.
