Great forum here!
I'm askin',
What obvious signs of heavy use/abuse should I look for and where?
My Colt DS could show signs (cracks) @ forcing cone I understand; but what about these Kahr's?
Gotta love'em but; what are the obvious signs of wear or abuse?

Local shows coming up.
Many thanks,

Look for slipping grades, listlessness, loss of long time old friends replaced with new, change in attitude, secretiveness, keeping new and odd hours, that sort of thing. Can happen anywhere.

I thought this was specifically a Kahr K9 forum, not a mental health website, I'm lookin for the wizened, not the "wise guys"! :+)
Just how old are you anyway? Respect your elders! :+)
Ahhh, the good ol' days. ;)

Seriously though? evident cracks or breaks on these steels? Due to heavy use? Where?
Cut the crap! get to the point! I'm old and cranky.

You are not going to wear out a Kahr. Our long time member, Jocko, has over 32,000 rounds thru his PM9. Other than occasionally replacing the outer recoil spring, they're good to go! Clean 'em. Lube 'em. And shoot 'em like you stole 'em! :)

Personally I would just look over a used kahr just like you would any other gun. Disassemble the gun and give it a thorough going over from top to bottom. Check to make sure mags don't have broken followers and dry fire the trigger a few times ( if they will let you) to make sure it is smooth and feels right.

Kahr's come with S's on their capes & are immune to Kryptonite. Seriously I would check any thing you would check on any other gun. Dryfire check for reset make sure the slide goes back & forward smoothly, no cracks on the mag lips, barrel hood wear that doesn't look right any excessive peening on lockup points. They are good guns I just listed some things I have read about on this forum.

There's a whole bunch of us here that are old and cranky, but most of the time we like to have just a bit of fun. And we are little

Seriously, just check a Kahr like any other semi-auto that you might be interested in. I would check the bolt face for peening as that could show use of excessively hot loads.

Hey,
Thanks folks, good to smile and laugh, in between listening to the news reports.
Yup, me too; more grey than the last time with this new growth of beard that I can only see in the mirror.

Nothing wrong with cranky, it keeps them young wippersnapper from comin so close as to bug ya!

On a serious note - if there's a problem, you'll see it upon field stripping.

Look at the rails up front, look at the screws in the frame. If they're good, and the top of the barrel at the hood is not all beat to heck (a lip formed there), then you're pretty much good to go.
