Hi All,

Have about 800+ rounds through my CM9. My only concern is very sporadically the slide will lock open with rounds still in the mag. Only 2 or 3 times with absolutely no pattern. Last outing fired about 100 and on # 101 locked open with 3 still in the mag.

I know nosedives and stovepipes are often due to limp wristing but would this also be caused by that? I did notice this happened after firing abut 300 rounds.

Thanks,

Craig ...

I would start by checking the slide lock spring's condition and see if the
Torx#6 screw holding the washer over the spring is tight... don't just torque the screw... it's a steel screw into plastic threads, easily stripped!

There is the manual with a very good description of this as well as an important take down video showing proper procedures for insertion and how these parts work.

If all of this is good and you're not inadvertently actuating the lever with your thumb during firing, then maybe the actuator may need a little fine tuning with a whetstone or small file... cautious minute changes to keep from overdoing this and ruining the slide lock's capability to keep the slide open after the last round is fired from the magazine. There are links describing this, too, under Kahr Tech.

I use my weak hand thumb to hold my gun hand thumb down and out of the way of the slide lock lever AND the magazine catch... not only to not actuate those, but prevent my injury during recoil, especially with the .45 and the .40's.

also be ur thumb is engaging the slide stop lever and not knowing it. U can shoot it left handed to test it out but it so seldom of an occurance, that might not be fun. It is a possability, being it is so rare to occure to.Limping has nuttin to do with ur issue, something is engaiging that slide stop lever. U might also check to see if by any chance those rounds could be hitting on the inside of the slide stop lever to, Propper pret thread addresses ths.

also wyn photo is what ur little spring should look like also. I would think if it was outta whack it would occur more than what u have stated. Keep an eye next time on that thumb when shooting. Sometimes a tired shooter does things he does not know is happening..:Amflag2:

Wynn:)

What Wynn describes here is an issue I had with my P380. When he says "cautious" and "minute", heed the warning. I took a bit too much off my slide lock pin and now it occassionally doesn't lock open on last round. I do have a new pin, which was only $5, but only take a bit off. You can see it when you insert the loaded mag and look at the round clearance.
