I just bought a PM9 and noticed that Kahr offers a ported barrel
for the CW9 and the P9 but not for the PM9.

The offered ported barrels are 1/2 inch longer than the stock barrels
so I ordered a stock P9 barrel which is 1/2 inch longer than my stock PM9 barrel.

So is this the way to do it?

Get a barrel and have it ported?

Any recommendations?

I noticed that jocko said his PM9 was ported and I sent him
a pm but has anyone else have any ideas?

You don't need a new barrel....What you do is send your existing PM9 slide and barrel via U.S. Postal Service (save some shipping money) to Mag-na-Port and for about $125.00 they will port your slide and barrel and have it back to you in a couple weeks or so...

My PM40 is Mag-na-Ported and it works and looks great....They invented the process and IMHO nobody else comes close to the quality of their work....

Kahr offers ported barrels for the p40's and p9's but
the extra 1/2 inch barrel length is not desirable?

Could someone post a usable link to jock's custum PM9...

Here's my post on the ported barrel for P9/CW9. Those DO NOT fit the PM9. The barrel shroud is very different and they don't interchange. Lockup wouldn't work if you did stuff the larger one in there somehow!

No the Kahr ported barrels aren't usless, they are different in that they vent straight up and they stick out of the end of the slide where as Mag-na-port vents in a V shape off to the sides...They both do the same thing and tame recoil and allow a faster 2nd shot on target....I like Mag-na-Port because it doesn't add any length to the pistol which is important in a CCW firearm...

You are not a moron, the only stupid question is one not asked...Glad Wyntrout's post helped you stop the barrel order and you won't be out some bucks....Do look at the Mag-na-Port web site, they are great to do business with and will do an excellent job if you choose them and decide to have yours ported....

You're welcome. We've discussed all of this stuff, but it's a good idea to ask someone when you have questions. Be mindful that some people on here don't know but might give you their "opinion" that it's okay!

My mag-na-ported P40 is my favorite EDC. And I like the P9 with the ported barrel.

You send them your barrel and slide for under $10 USPS Priority and it costs $140 + $20 shipping, I believe... just a tad more than the barrel plus shipping from Kahr... IF they made one for the PM9.
